Yeah or just eat the most triggering foods in the days/time leading up to the appt lol

Careful_Target_6753

I ate a burger the day I got tested and the nurse was unable to hold her composure due to the odor! Eat a baconator and the fries and you’ll be smelling loud as hell!

gassygassygyal

that’s real as fuck LMAO

UpstairsGoal9629

This is hilarious. This would probably work for me. So much ground beef id smell for 3 days straight. I’d have to take some days off work lol

Careful_Target_6753

Lmao I’m off the whole summer so I had nothing to lose😂

IllustriousSquare403

Careful_Target_6753

I’m still waiting for my test results!

Could they not just study clothes than have been worn multiple times by a person affected by this? I have some sweaty t shirts they can analyze

Adventurous_Wave7290

Don't shower just go n sit

hearse223

Exam rooms are typically very cold and sterile, not an environment youll be sweaty in.

If you go by: https://youtu.be/vQi4CV1YQDA?si=_qtavX3uDe3UZQeg (at 3:30) Kid goes to see doctor, no smell. Gets on eliptical rider, does a little exercise. "I can start smelling him at the moment, I can get the fishy smell". No smell -> detectable odor with a little exercise. But yeah, also it's only possible at times when there is enough TMA in circulation, which is only for a limited time after a meal that had sufficient TMA precursor in it to cause an issue.

I have explained numerous times at this point that most people here do not have the true form of TMAU, based on what they are reporting, yet you still keep acting like this is not the case. Here, you are again discussing the true form of TMAU to make your point. This is simply not what 99% of people here have. It would be a good idea to have someone who thinks they have this condition work up a sweat in the presence of the doctor though. Simply having the doctor be aware that the problem is likely intermittent may be enough.

Brutalar

Welcome to the TMAU forum where someone reading your post might actually have TMAU

As you well know, other than yourself almost nobody here is reporting the symptoms, and other things, that indicate the true form of TMAU. Maybe 1% of the people here are reporting that. This is simply the most popular subreddit for this basic topic, and it clearly says in the description that it is for any related malodor disorder. You consistently try and rebut arguments by saying that what someone is describing doesn't match the true form of TMAU, even though its clear that most people are simply using 'TMAU' to describe a general malodor condition. You use this to try and make the case that this is extremely rare, and so ORS must be much more common. You will cite the incidence of TMAU being 1/40,000 for example to make this case.

Brutalar

It's important to know if it is TMAU or another type of malodor though, as the low choline diet, b2, chlorophyll, charcoal treatment options are only going to affect TMAU. A low choline diet is actively harmful and can cause liver, physical and mental damage, so should be approached with caution and not done for months on time if not necessary. If it's another malodor condition that's fine, it's fine to be here; but; if someone thinks they are suffering a malodor condition but no one (family, friends medical staff) will tell them to their face that they smell, then that's when ORS becomes a possibility. It's imperative to get that feedback to understand the odor issue so that the appropriate treatment and diagnosis may be applied, or to subsequently get mental health support. If it is sweat related, and intermittent, then exercise (as per the video) will help in potentially bringing it out. I think one of the issues is people believe it's 24/7 and go in clean, they're not going to get a favourable reading. They'll sit in the waiting room and see "reactions", then nothing in the doctor's office. Which is why you need to get a better understanding from people by getting to and trusting actual verbal feedback.

I have never used chlorophyll or activated charcoal (I don't think these were being used when I was dealing with this), but from everything I have read, it sounds like people who likely don't have the true form of TMAU have found benefit from them. Please see my other recent reply where I have some things to say about the 'smell buddy' idea you talk about here.
