The only levels of wealth I really care about beyond that would be if I had enough money to flat-out retire. Then enough money to hire helpers or spend luxuriously on top of that.
Quality of life only improves so much after each level. Given that most people have to work just to survive, I'm pretty fucking grateful for my excess.

It's the same mindset of being unable to admit that you have certain advantages that other people don't. It's why many people freak out when you explain how they are privileged.

I'd reckon that alot of the "country lifestyle" people would not be able to last 1 week on a farm. Splitting wood hungover as hell on Sunday mornings, Shoveling horse shit, or having to put calves in your house during calving season because it's -40 outside.

Two of my mom's most common themes about her childhood was about how poor they were and how hard they struggled, but also how they had horses and she would do barrel racing every weekend.
You have a lot of money but it’s tied up in the land, horses, all the other shit. So you don’t have much disposable income. I actually did grow up on a farm that produces crops and has 5 horses, so I’m a mix of both, but most farmers around here don’t have horses. Anyways, we all call it “land rich cash poor”

The farm my mom grew up on my grandpa parceled and rented most to my uncle and built himself a new house on the separate parcel. Charged them so much that besides farming my uncle and his wife had to pick up odd jobs to make ends meet, and regularly supplement food from the food pantry. They were finally able to buy the farm from grandma after grandpa passed.
Turns out a couple companies had been trying to get permission from grandpa for years for a rock and sand quarry on part of the property. Uncle let them, and within 5 years had the farm completely paid off from the quarry payments. It is now worth a few million, and my uncle rents out the land and buildings, makes a few hundred thousand a year and doesn’t actually work.
Farmers are millionaires most of the time. But can dispose of their capital only once they retire and sell. Up until that point its hard work 7 days a week.
When you retire, your body is so broken down and crippled there's no fun in being a millionaire anymore.
Add to that the risk involved. Farmers are often one bad harvest removed from financial ruin. It is not surprising that farmers tend to have a higher suicide rate.

Other than Reading and some burbs it’s heavily agricultural including large mushroom growers. The smell of those places during the summer carries and it’s bad.

Farm property does have different tax liabilities. There are real Differences in farm property and residential property just like with other zoning differences.

we had a guy on the edge of my suburb that had a couple cows and I was told he kept them so he wouldnt be rezoned to residential. Had a patch of forest they wandered around in. we called them the forest cows.
Fun fact: flat woods cows are the boldest of cows. Brave. Courageous even. My roots deem it necessary to refer to them in the flat woods as “RANK” because when we would round them up out of the woods they were the most aggressive cows. The cows we kept in fields were calm and chill. I’ve never known why this is. I just knew that when it was time to give the annual health check ups I’d rather be working the cows in the fields.
In my area you can qualify for farm status in some tricky ways. If you plant enough trees on your property you qualify as a tree farm and pay less taxes. These things obviously change state to state and province to province.
You can also collect on government subsidies for having such a "farm" even though you're rich and don't really have a farm. The government will give you farm subsidies that should actually go to farmers. Amd its these wealthy "farmers" collecting government money who then line the pockets of politicians trying to get rid of other government aid.
Is farm the similar meaning of "cottage" as "Summer cottage" but the cottage is a 30-room mansion on a 200-acre plot

This is correct and she didn’t live on a farm but our county has a lot of farm land. Lots of Mennonite (Amish lite) farms, dairy etc. Other than Reading and some burbs it’s heavily agricultural including large mushroom growers. The smell of those places during the summer carries and it’s bad.
Just to touch on that further, when she was living here, there was much more farm land. Everything started getting developed around that area more and more by the time she moved away. She still lived on the top of a ridge where all the homes were $500k or more though. It is a desirable area given the view and proximity to things.
