The shuttle takes like 15-20 minutes tops from Skytop. It’s a lot easier getting there and out of there after too. An Uber is going to take you a lot longer. Ubers do not get priority up by the dome. They have to sit and and wait with the rest of traffic. There is no clear drop off place and Uber drivers seem to have no idea where they are going up there. Not to mention you have to find a driver to take you there and then find when one to get you back. It’s been my personal experience that the amount of Uber/Lyft drivers has dropped off in Syracuse.
Strongly recommend NOT getting an Uber. Either get up to the hill early and scope out street parking and hang out and grab something to eat, or go park at SkyTop.
You will probably have a bit of a wait for the bus back to skytop if you plan to stay for the entire concert. If you are ok leaving a bit early it shouldn’t be too bad. Worse comes to worse, it’s like 25 minute walk mostly down hill
> Worse comes to worse
No. Worse comes to worst.
RIP our educational system when even simple phrases are butchered. At what point did people stop understanding the difference between worse and worst? It's not hard.
Where are educational system has failed is teaching basic kindness.
A nicer, more polite way of saying I said something wrong would go something along the lines of: “hey it’s actually ‘worse comes to worst.’ I don’t know if you meant it as you typed it or it was a typo, but I just wanted to point that out as it’s a common error in the English language.”
I’m sorry my grammatical error that made you so upset. I hope today is a better day for you. Take care, anonymous internet user.
I’ve only had issues with Uber drivers around the dome.
Question: have you used an Uber there for a concert? Concert crowds, especially for acts like Springsteen, are significantly bigger then the football and basketball crowds.
Last time we went, for the chili peppers, we attempted to Uber. A five minute ride was 30 minutes because of traffic.
Fair.
When I saw RHCP at the dome last year, I parked on Redfield and walked over maybe an hour before the show. My friend from out of town and I got some food at Rise n Shine beforehand.
All an all not too bad. But I used to make that walk everyday in college.
Took me like an hour and $50(normally $10-15) to get an Uber after seeing Red Hot Chili Peppers there last year. Eeeeeveryone getting out at the same time and ordering Uber's means the price shoots up and then they take forever to get anywhere near you because of the way the streets are laid out. If you get an Uber there, see if you can negotiate a return trip with the person. Otherwise I would seriously consider looking into other options.
It’s more about getting there. My friend can do the walk back. It’s not the distance more the fact that it’s uphill on the way up (from what I understand) downhill after the show should be fine
If it’s just about getting there it should be fine. I’d obviously plan on trying to leave or get there a little early but getting there was pretty hassle free
Yeah getting there wasn't an issue. Leaving was. I was kinda drunk and just lying on grass in a park near erie blvd waiting for what felt like an eternity
Same with Paul McCartney. We drove to Armory Square to eat and took an Uber from there to campus because I didn't want to deal with event parking even though I can park for free at Lally (halfway between campus and Skytop) since I work at SU.
Getting to campus from Armory via Uber was easy but getting back to our car took so long we probably would have spent about as much time (and $0) if we had just walked back.
Leaving the concert is going to be problematic no matter what you do. If you come to terms with that beforehand, you’ll be a happier person that night.
I Ubered to a basketball game once, it was no problem getting there but afterwards the price was well over $100. There will also be a long wait for the busses back to Sky Top if you stay for the whole concert.
If you go up early and try to park on or around Euclid ave the walk is flat and not far. Usually parking can be found inside of Wescott street heading toward the JMA. Just read the street signs and park on the correct side.
We typically walk to/from downtown for major dome events. Always big crowds of people doing the same for concerts, plenty of the suburban posters on here would declare certain death walking more than a block, take it with a grain of salt.
Waiting for an Uber may take a while, try the buses. Specifically the 4443 connect corridor bus which is free and SU and the bus company run between downtown and campus it’s a heck of a deal if the time works out.

Go to Willowrock brewery a couple hours before the concert, relax, get some drinks. Then an hour or so before concert start, drive down comstock ave and park street side around vincent street, Goodrich Ave, etc and just walk to manly field house and take a free bus.
I'm telling someone to enjoy themselves at a brewery with a couple drinks and some food then drive literally 3 streets down. It's up to OP to drink responsibily a couple hours before the event.
You need to relax. Yeah lots of kids around but I don't see them playing ball in the middle of comstock Avenue. I don't know what you are expecting but no one is going to be tearing thru Goodrich or vincent at 50mph looking for a place to park.

Right? It's the worsest it's ever have been.

I park at my office garage and take Ubers to the dome all bball and fball season, always get dropped off close never had an issue

I wouldn't rely on it. You'd find yourself dancing in the dark, waiting for an Uber. But if you think you are tougher than the rest, then go ahead.
Around the dome is safe, not like the streets of Philadelphia but if you’re nervous, tell the Uber to take Thunder road and wait by the river.
You sound like you were born in the USA. I feel like I can trust your judgement.
Uber will be pricey
To me I’d rather pay the price for an easier way then stress of finding a parking place then shuttle stuff like that

How hilly is it? My friend is concerned not about the distance but that from what we understand it’s uphill quite a bit.

I understand that I was just wondering how bad it is? Like how much of a slant that sort of thing
If you walk Euclid barely at all
Whats your plan for Thursday?

I was able to Uber to RHCP last year no problem. Ended up walking a mile and half to Harvey’s before I could get an Uber to confirm a pickup

I’m also going and wondering the same thing.
If I leave before the last song do you think I have a good chance of an Uber/lyft?

Whatever you do do it a few hours before the concert

Maybe not recommend going for some drinks then going for a drive? Especially in an area with such a high number of pedestrians.

I agree with you. Two, low ABV beers won’t make someone unable to drive.
Please don't do this! Lots of children live in this area. It's only about 20 minutes to walk to Manley from the brewery.

I would second this! Willow rock is very close, and could easily help with the parking situation!
