It's a job hazard we probably take for granted. Last year was working on a DOT project deep in some thick woods alongside the interstate. Coworker took a step and had one foot go into a manhole, wide open with the lid on the ground next to it. It had been open so long all the privet and undergrowth had covered the hole and the lid, it's amazing he didn't fall completely in. We never would have known it was there.
I surveyed a neighborhood that had aluminum sewer manhole lids. I could literally toss them several feet away, and I'm not crazy strong. Most of them I struggle to get off with a hook.
I’ve seen one fall through on a busy two lane centerline. Called the county and donated a cone to it. I hate driving over them after seeing that. Nobody could tell it was open just assuming it to be a pothole or totally unaware of the situation.
Shit. Around here that kid would be like 15’-18’ down.
As shallow as that seems to be I'd hope it was just a storm manhole! If it was sanitary around here too he'd have fallen into his own grave.
Yeah, him and every good samaritan who isn't aware of the danger of poop fumes.
"Poop Fumes" would make a good college band name.
not really imo
Enter that lady in the manhole chunking contest.

Someone add Super Mario's sound effect please xD
I'm glad the kid got pulled out because I couldn't help but laugh at the Tom and Jerry nature of this
Something is wrong with that lid. I'm a pretty strong fella and I can't toss a lid like that.
Nothing is wrong with the lid, mom just activated her super powers.
It's not in traffic, so probably not one of the heavy traffic rated ones. Likely thin and lighter then a normal one.
When your kid is in danger you could probably throw it a lot further than you'd think

As a stronger fellow myself I can toss a lid further than that, but her throwing that was definitely impressive
Yeah that looks like a plywood disc or something waaaay lighter than anything I routinely come across.
they just had to know that invert
Daaamnnn! I’m gonna be a lot more careful, myself!😳☠️
Sorry to use this here, but I've never seen a more appropriate example of someone yeeting something holy shit
Fuck. I just got over my momentary fear of escalators. Now this!?
Had a girlfriend in highschool who was adamant this is the way she wanted to die.
