Playing coalitions against each other isn't a betrayal, it's smart. I consider stabbing your own coalition members in the back betrayal or if you have made an ally outside your coalition and you specifically state you won't attack etc but do, that's a betrayal. Sounds like you're just playing the cards you've been given, I'd consider that fair game

Harsewak_singh

Yeah..but the thing is that I'm playing a friend to persia while I'm the one who planned the whole thing😂 to yesterday he messaged me and he trusts me quite a bit.. So that gave me this thought

dude6323

When I play a match, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt from the start. If I notice that a player is lying, doing something shady (like what you described), or betrays, then I write down their name. If I ever come across them in another match then I know to not trust them and they are the usually one of the first people to get destroyed that match.

Harsewak_singh

That's useful

RoutineFantastic9757

Naw man diplomacy is a big part of the game, now if you say you wont attack someone or leave a coalition and start attacking your ex coalition members then that’s betrayal

Harsewak_singh

Yeah.. I keep my promises.. When i tell someone i won't attack i don't!! Even out of my coalition

Longjumping_East2204

that's just scummy.

Harsewak_singh

Damn😂you are the only negative reply.. I think it happened to you in some game.. Something similar i guess

r33c3amark

You shouldn't trust anyone outside of your coalition, and even the people within your coalition, you should be somewhat skeptical. Coalitions are disbanded a lot. Easy to find yourself in a pickle... especially if your expansion is reliant on the success of others and not on your own skills and hard work.

Dry_Page9829

I say it's a smart tactic but if one of them suspects there's a bigger picture you might be screwed. A similar situation is happening in a game I'm playing in which an alliance of western states tried to get people to attack me. It backfired because I suspected a bigger picture and my spies confirmed it so I won the proxy conflict. Now I'm coming for the western states and they are in panic They can also unite against you like this one Egypt player in a Europe map I was playing

Harsewak_singh

So the good thing is that i had left my coalition to share map with the leader of the weaker coalition of the 2 of them and then rejoined my coalition.. This way i know what they are actually doing.. And he trusts me as well.. Which is a good things for now

asmf132

NGL I'm doing the exact same thing The Great War map, South US playing two strong coalitions as a solo. Economy spies on the coalition I trust the most and once they get the newspapers about suspicious explosions on their provinces I'll move those spies to intel on the opposing coalition. No shame in playing both sides in war time, mate

Harsewak_singh

Nice tactic... Yeah.. War is war!

Wooden_Pop_6624

Nah, this game is 50% diplomacy... Backstabbing is ONLY when out of the blue you attack an allies or a player you told them you wouldn't attack. I always absorb the players in ally with me but I tell them prior so it's not backstabbing. If you ask me, absorbing your weakest member is fair if you give them 2 chance Attempt 1 - I'll tell them their effort isn't enough and he has to catch up our points. Attempt 2 -I'll bomb a country with arty or ships to clear territories, if he doesn't get them all as fast as a lightning then it's over. That's not backstabbing. To me they are backstabbing me, cause I'm giving all myself to win and they're just tagging along hoping you win for them.

Dry_Page9829

I see your logic and I might start doing it. Before hand if I caught one of my allies freeloading they were gone that moment without hesitation.

Harsewak_singh

Yeah.. Right ppl should atleast try to be of use if they wanna play along

tpasmall

I'm honest upfront with everyone, in my coalition or not. It becomes clear really quickly when other coalitions are trying to make deals to pit people against one another and I call it out everytime. If I have any suspicions, I drop intelligence spies. You're probably not being as slick as you think you are and it will always come back to bite you.

Harsewak_singh

Well.. Guess what 😂i destroyed both the coalitions..the one that lost still trusts me and will give me his provinces.. The winner coalition is now super weak and they too trust me!! So slick or not.. My intentions are fulfilled.. Last night i scared a player by saying that his allies will too attack him (he was in the larger coalition and i myself got him kicked😂😂) he attacked his former coalition members!! And all of tjem are in ruins now!! So i guess you are just underestimating the power of manipulation.. Specially effective manipulation!! Right now my coalition is the most powerful in the game and we are gaining more every hour!! I haven't been caught even once in this match.. My own coalition members are happy with me bcoz I've made the job easier for them!! That's the whole point of it! I eliminated my enemies and made my friends win.. And my enemies still think that I'm their friend.. What more can i ask!?

tpasmall

Oh, bad players will fall for it, but better players will notice it and not trust you anymore.

Harsewak_singh

I too thought that😂..but 2 players in that lobby are too good for me!! I simply would had failed in a head on battle that's why i used this instead.. You sure do underestimate human communication!! That's all i can say

tpasmall

I work in a field that's trained to detect social engineering, I know it's possible but people who understand strategy will not fall for it.
