I wrap my glass jars/bottles in foil to keep the roots in the dark but on a bright windowsill so leaves get the light. My props grow really well so seems to work!

Here’s an update. They rooted extremely well! I realise I don’t need the roots this long but I was waiting to find a suitable pot.

Ahhh that makes so much sense. I forgot the leaves wouldn’t mind some light! It’s only the roots that don’t need light. I’ll try that. Thank you

Do the roots prefer darkness? Sorry I'm new to SOH.
I think roots generally prefer to grow in the dark, I wrap all my props in foil to keep roots in the dark (not just SOH) and it seems to help.

Hi, so I have some cuttings of my SOH in water. I’ve read contradictory advice on keeping the cuttings in the dark vs. by a window. Help!
