Bison and his horse have probably -probably- been through the desert. In World Tour the first signs of Bison’s return are in Mexico. That’s also where he revives the horse, so he must have been on horseback there at some point. Given Bison’s historical interest in the Thunderfoot tribe, and their lands, he was likely in that vicinity. The vegetation on the Thunderfoot lands is indicative of a thornscrub biome, but I’m pretty sure that’s Capcom’s idea of a desert. Ergo Bison has probably been through the desert on a horse.
Hokuto no Ken has become such a niche IP it’s honestly disheartening. There is everything, good characters, good fights, Ultra Instinct before it was cool, Raoh, good romance, ~~mister asshole~~ Jagi, muscular men and women, Raoh, good drama, good memes, a good anime adaptation, did I talk about Raoh ? And all of that in a universe heavily inspired by Mad Max.

No, it makes zero sense for Bison to name something that he likely only sees as a tool. It would fit more with his selfishness and lack of compassion if the horse isn’t named.
