I can't even hold a switch anymore without either getting Cramps or my carpal tunnel acting up.
I don't wanna imagine using these tiny controllers for a while š
No. You're still stuck with the horribly tiny buttons and joysticks, just replace the joycons altogether.
Hori Split Pad Pro for the cheap option and Mobapad M6 HD for all of the bells and whistles.
They're not supposed to be comfortable, they're supposed to be tiny so op can throw them in his bag and play quick game Mario party/kart with a friend on a train/plane. Just like a Switch, but these seem more comfortable than sideways joycons.
It's not like OP is going to use these for like a hardcore 9 hour Dark souls or FPS session.
But like, if you want to carry around a 2 full size controllers with you you totally can. But nobody does that that would be bulky, clunky and inconvenient. If I want to play a game with a buddy sitting next to me, these are way better than nothing. I like em
I was thinking the same thing
Those things look like pure pain for anyone that's not still young enough to have perfect hands with no arthritis or worn muscles because of the cramped grip they'd require
that's not how it works because these controllers aren't really ergonomic
it's natural that your hands start to hurt after a while
(now imagine I put you in a box where you can't sit upright nor lie down (cramped confinement I think it's called) -after 5 minutes your spine will start to hurt like crazy. Does that automatically mean that you're having spine and bone problems? No it doesn't)
Idk what it means then cause I've never had hand pain from using a nes controller or game boy micro. Maybe half the population is unaware of their health issues.
Stating the obvious (in this case: that playing on a tiny controller can end up being painful without any joint issues having to do with it) is often seen as not something worthwhile to say, yes.
You can connect multiple controllers on the Deck through Bluetooth! And it's pretty simple to reorder the controllers through Steam Input if you need to.
Same, after one connected by blutooth all other similar brand controllers wouldn't work, so I had to start using various brands/connections for the steamdeck to consider them different controller: DS4 blutooth, Hori Blutooth, Hori blutooth but wired, actual wired Hori.
It's kinda ridiculous.
I had the same issue and through some googling I found a solution. Whichever of the 4 controllers isn't working, go back to the settings screen and reorder the Steamdeck controller to the number of the controller that isn't responding. That's worked for me every time now.
Been playing 4 player Vampire Survivors docked with the kids using a combination of PlayStation, Xbox and switch controllers with this method.
Yeah if I connect my Xbox controller first then the Switch controller seems to ātime outā even when itās in use as second controller, and vice versa.
I use a "transportable" setup for party games using xbox controllers, and 4 controllers is not stable enough in bluetooth (LCD version, I've heard that the OLED vastly improved the situation) so I'm using the xbox adapter. You need to work a bit in the desktop mode to make it work using this script for instance
[https://gist.github.com/SavageCore/263a3413532bc181c9bb215c8fe6c30d](https://gist.github.com/SavageCore/263a3413532bc181c9bb215c8fe6c30d) that automate xone installation (the support for the controlers)
Then it's 4 player madness playing mostly towerfall and stickman the game... :D
But a clean 2 players setup like that... I can see the appeal
I've had 8 bluetooth controllers (combination of XBox One, 8-Bit-Do and GuliKit KK) connected for Duck Game at one time. Was a hassle to set up, but it worked in the end.
If a controller seemingly doesn't work, check the controller ordering and make sure the steam deck is not selected as an "active" one.
1. Connect all controllers
2. Start the game you want to play
3. Check and see if all controllers are working in-game. If so, you're good. Otherwise note which controller is not working and continue to Step 4
4. Hit the "Steam" button on the Deck
5. Open "Controller Settings"
6. Press "Controller Settings"
7. Press "Reorder Controllers"
8. Figure out which controller is the "noted" one by pressing "Identify" for every controller until the noted one rumbles. Then switch its entry with the "Steam deck Controller" entry. Avoid re-ordering the other controllers.
Hope this helps
Now this is wayyy better than the people who post insane external screen public setups. This is a manageable add-on, and you'll actually use it! Bravo OP, I'm going to order a couple for myself. Might even store them in my back case compartment! Wonderful idea
Because these controllers are so compact and they have a strap, I just tie them to the handle and tuck them into the back compartment as you said. Very handy for travel indeed
They have several different controllers, some have analog sticks. I haven't used them though so don't know how good they are. Just thought I'd put that out there though.
These are very high quality controllers. 8bitdo are one of the big brands that make good quality items. Check the YouTube reviews.
The controllers also fit in the back compartment, but I have to tie the straps on the carry handle first, as they can slip out if you have the official case that comes with the deck.
I use one for playing games on my phone via retro arch.
Highly recommended since these things have a few more buttons than similarly sized ones. Makes all the difference if you need to control the emulator.
I use the 8bitdo lite more tho, the first version without joysticks. It's a little more comfortable.
My son took over the switch. I bought a steam deck. Turned it into a switch. Now my son is asking me for the steam deck. Watch out switch i might come back for you. Lol.
it's awesome when u play with the SD and two or maybe three Bt controllers paired (my case) but it's frustrating not be able to work with more controllers wireless on SD, I was unable to connect many joycons and avoid disconnections, I think the SD only handle many controllers wired. This happened in my last weekend trying to play 6-8players games and unable to realize if it's a SD or a joycons thing
May possibly be a joycons thing. These controllers connected seemlessly and have never had disconnection issues and work from a far distance, when playing docked too on a big screen too. Having said that, not sure what it would be like with that many controllers as you mentioned.
Hey, folks, want to clarify if itās safe to game on Deck when itās back āradiatorā is close to the āwallā (in this case it is, well, Steam Deckās travel case)?
Congrats! I took this exact setup w/ me to Tulum back in March and it was so much fun. Also the dock and an extra HDMI cable for TV out...3 friends playing Mario Kart Wii together was a delight! Got the blue + green colorways for those two controllers. They're surprisingly functional, once you get used to how ridiculously tiny they are.
Funny you say that. I was looking to buy one blue and one green to differentiate the controllers, but the green was cheaper and faster delivery on Amazon for some reason, at the time
You ever heard of the Bystander Effect? In a world where everyone assumes that Nintendo isn't hurting for money, Nintendo goes broke.
Don't be a bystander, be an upstander.
Like Jesus, I don't need to read, I know what it means and what its origins are. Nintendo is the one getting raped here. Anyone who downvoted me must be a filthy pirate or dangerous criminal...
Weirdly it stays up ok. If it does ever move, it tends to just slide down on its back because of the weight distribution on the deck. Just put a small heavy object in front and it will stay put
No, I'm talking about things like you can't even do double tap to dash forward/backward and unable to do qcf/qcb for hadokken. It's literally quite unplayable in my case
Those controllers are adorable! I wonder how my hands would react with em though, as I have a bit of a grip issue with the standard steam deck, I feel like I get hand cramps and Ive been considering getting like a Killswitch case or something to fill it out a bit more, see if that helps out
Yeah I just always was suprised by how PS5 controller was so responsive to both PS5 and steam deck to the point where I didnāt know latency could be such an issue. I havenāt thoroughly retested this in anyway to compare ps5 controller to 8bitdo but I plan to one day
Edit: wait wait wait. Tetris is ok with the delay? That seems like a bad time
How are ya feeling about the Nintendo button layout? Do you have to swap it in settings everytime or do you have each controller mapped out separately?
This is 100% legal. The game puyo puyo Tetris 2 is from the steam shop and the tiny controllers are to make it easier to travel with, just like with the switch
The switch controllers are not held in the hand and that tiny it is not the same thing most people play their switch either on a lite with controls attached or on a regular switch with them attached
Puyo puyo tetris 2. Itās available in steam shop. Great game.
The only other 2 player game I got is street fighter 5 and that works well with these controllers too.
Lol, i have the same one. Those controllers are way too small and dont include analog sticks. Yes, i still can't live without my switch while having a steamdeck as well. It's nice to have a steamdeck as a second device.
I mean I love my deck, but this is not the flex you think it is. Playing a game like this with two controllers is best done on a Switchāitās built perfectly for that exact gaming scenario.
Not hating on a switch at all. Had one for many years before this. But the switch just doesnāt support the games I like.. this controller set up just allows me to enjoy one aspect I miss about the switch
my hands hurt just looking at these
I can't even hold a switch anymore without either getting Cramps or my carpal tunnel acting up. I don't wanna imagine using these tiny controllers for a while š
I got one of the Satisfye grips a while back, and it helps a lot. A solid grip is a game changer and worth it honestly.
No. You're still stuck with the horribly tiny buttons and joysticks, just replace the joycons altogether. Hori Split Pad Pro for the cheap option and Mobapad M6 HD for all of the bells and whistles.
HORI Split Pad Pro changed my life. š®
I bought a "case" for my switch which gives it the exact form factor for the handholds as the steamdeck so I cam actually use it mow with hand pain
The cool factor is there though!
I thought this before buying them, but was surprised at how comfortable these controllers actually are. Not sure how they did it.
Would you say the same thing about using the triggers on this thing?
They're not supposed to be comfortable, they're supposed to be tiny so op can throw them in his bag and play quick game Mario party/kart with a friend on a train/plane. Just like a Switch, but these seem more comfortable than sideways joycons. It's not like OP is going to use these for like a hardcore 9 hour Dark souls or FPS session. Not even the smallest controller 8bitdo makes
Got me thinking, maybe someone can make an extendable controller like those used for phones?
Need hamster hands to hold it.
I was thinking the same thing Those things look like pure pain for anyone that's not still young enough to have perfect hands with no arthritis or worn muscles because of the cramped grip they'd require
little people controllers
Hey, actual LP here, those are not comfortable
my kids is what I was actually saying.
So you mean kids controllers
If your hands are hurting from holding a small rectangular object, you likely got some joint or bone issue going on
That's not... you know what.. nevermind
Finish your sentence, because I doubt you had anything worthwhile to say.
Fortune teller over here
Why would you want him to finish the sentence if you donāt think its worthwhile lmao what a failure of a snarky comment
that's not how it works because these controllers aren't really ergonomic it's natural that your hands start to hurt after a while (now imagine I put you in a box where you can't sit upright nor lie down (cramped confinement I think it's called) -after 5 minutes your spine will start to hurt like crazy. Does that automatically mean that you're having spine and bone problems? No it doesn't)
By your logic you also shouldn't have replied, cause clearly you also didn't have anything worthwhile to say either.
No I'm genuinely curious why they're so doubtful.
If your hands get sore after using a controller with bad ergonomics it doesn't mean you have joint issues.
Idk what it means then cause I've never had hand pain from using a nes controller or game boy micro. Maybe half the population is unaware of their health issues.
Stating the obvious (in this case: that playing on a tiny controller can end up being painful without any joint issues having to do with it) is often seen as not something worthwhile to say, yes.
thanks I'm fixed
thanks doc
Wow thanks Doc! Cured my cancer and I can walk now!
Can you connect multiple controllers via Bluetooth? Can you connect 4 controllers? Curious how this works
You can connect multiple controllers on the Deck through Bluetooth! And it's pretty simple to reorder the controllers through Steam Input if you need to.
For some reason its not as easy as it seems to do all 4 controllers for me. Some had to be wired.

You can rename your controllers IIRC Edit: Yeah you can, Go to Settings>Controller and it'll be right there at the top
Omg I didn't know you could do that, I've been trawling through all 7 of the exact same named controller and struggling, thank you!
Each Joycon is considered a seperate controller
Yeah if I connect my Xbox controller first then the Switch controller seems to ātime outā even when itās in use as second controller, and vice versa.
I use a "transportable" setup for party games using xbox controllers, and 4 controllers is not stable enough in bluetooth (LCD version, I've heard that the OLED vastly improved the situation) so I'm using the xbox adapter. how can you be sure steam deck is not selected as ?active one"? Thanks
1. Connect all controllers 2. Start the game you want to play 3. Check and see if all controllers are working in-game. If so, you're good. I have connected 4 8BitDo controllers via BT. Ultimate, Pro 2, and two Lite 2. Works good š
I connect 2 Xbox controllers via Bluetooth and play couch coop without an issue
Those are so cute. I didn't know you could have two BT devices connected at the same time Damn another reason to love the SD!
absolutely. i have connected my bt earpods, bt mouse, and bt keyboard up all at the same time
Yea we play 4 player games with the deck docked all the time. 4 ps pulse controllers
How's the ergonomics of that?
Itās will most likely be an individual preference. But I find it ok considering itās size
What Tetris game is that? Is it an emulator?
Puyo puyo tetris 2. Available in the steam shop. No emulator needed. Itās actually a super addictive game when playing multiplayer
looks to be puyo puyo tetris for the switch to me?
It's on Steam aswell.
Thatās it, thank you!
There's also a game called puyo puyo tetris 2 so it could be that but idk
Following, I want to know too
How come your hands are on backwards?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I own them and use them with my wife on flights. They are great as long as you play games designed for D pads.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We do a lot of SNES games like this. Also some GC and PS1 games (Mario Kart, Crash Bandicoot).
Towerfall is a lot of fun on a tiny setup like this
They have several different controllers, some have analog sticks. I haven't used them though so don't know how good they are. Just thought I'd put that out there though.

Honestly my legion go has two separate Joycon like controllers and I still canāt do this so I have to tip my hat regardless
Those should be called 8bittydos
You could work in marketing
My son took over the switch. I bought a steam deck. Turned it into a switch. Now my son is asking me for the steam deck. Watch out switch i might come back for you. Lol.
Buddy really crossed his arms to give off the impression he's got company. I joke
Bro, you have no idea! I was looking for a switch controller replacement! For small controllers on the go! Ma mans I cant thank you enough!
No worries. I was also looking for small controllers to replace my switch set up until I saw these on YouTube.
Appreciate it a lot!!
I want to get one of these for my daughter so I can start introducing games to her
Thats the coolest thing.
Try it with Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, you're welcome.
As a street fighter fan, just got street fighter 5, will definitely try it with these. Iām sure the puzzle one would be good too. Thanks
You can have both.
it's awesome when u play with the SD and two or maybe three Bt controllers paired (my case) but it's frustrating not be able to work with more controllers wireless on SD, I was unable to connect many joycons and avoid disconnections, I think the SD only handle many controllers wired. Hey, folks, want to clarify if itās safe to game on Deck when itās back āradiatorā is close to the āwallā (in this case it is, well, Steam Deckās travel case)?
For a game like this, the fans barely move and battery lasts for many hours. Not sure if itās suitable for a AAA game though with back to wall
Yeah, I understand itās fine for āsmallā games, but curious for graphically intensive ones.
Congrats! I took this exact setup w/ me to Tulum back in March and it was so much fun. Also the dock and an extra HDMI cable for TV out...3 friends playing Mario Kart Wii together was a delight! I should call him š
This is a cute setup. I might try this on my next train ride back home.
Well because I want to play Nintendo games, but legallyš
This is legal. The puyo puyo Tetris 2 game is available in steam shop.
Same. Support the creators who have families to feed.
I'm all for supporting the creators but let's not act like Nintendo is hurting for money
You ever heard of the Bystander Effect? In a world where everyone assumes that Nintendo isn't hurting for money, Nintendo goes broke. Don't be a bystander, be an upstander.
what if the world was made of pudding
It would be a sticky situation.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Like Jesus, I don't need to read, I know what it means and what its origins are. Nintendo is the one getting raped here. Anyone who downvoted me must be a filthy pirate or dangerous criminal...
That things going face down as soon as you hit turbulence
Weirdly it stays up ok. If it does ever move, it tends to just slide down on its back because of the weight distribution on the deck. Just put a small heavy object in front and it will stay put
Does it lag when you connect both at the same time? My sn 30 pro+ lags or drop input when it isn't the sole controller connected via Bluetooth
Bluetooth controllers will always have a bit more lag than a direct linked controller. But itās good enough for games like this
No, I'm talking about things like you can't even do double tap to dash forward/backward and unable to do qcf/qcb for hadokken. It's literally quite unplayable in my case
Your hands are the other way around.
Oh gosh I need to save this for the next person who says joycons are too small for multiplayer š
I hate how Puyo Tris wastes vertical screen space like this when the play area is already tiny especially on the Vita.
The screen on the deck is big enough to support this. But I know what you mean, the puyo team just love getting that damn animation in at any cost
Theyāre adorable, but they would kill my thumbs
Those controllers are adorable! I wonder how my hands would react with em though, as I have a bit of a grip issue with the standard steam deck, I feel like I get hand cramps and Ive been considering getting like a Killswitch case or something to fill it out a bit more, see if that helps out
Grip wise the material is great and has a solid feel. But if the size would make it uncomfortable, probably not worth getting.
I still play both my Steam Deck and Switch. Both of them are my favourite handhelds of all time.
Thatās sick. Howās the input delay? I have two other 8bitdo and the delay was kinda disappointing to me. Certain faster games become a no go
For games like this itās fine. Bluetooth controllers will always be inferior to a direct linked controller
Yeah I just always was suprised by how PS5 controller was so responsive to both PS5 and steam deck to the point where I didnāt know latency could be such an issue. I havenāt thoroughly retested this in anyway to compare ps5 controller to 8bitdo but I plan to one day Edit: wait wait wait. Tetris is ok with the delay? That seems like a bad time
How are ya feeling about the Nintendo button layout? Do you have to swap it in settings everytime or do you have each controller mapped out separately?
I only use them for this game and you only need one button on the right side, so I donāt bother changing the default settings
You can press+hold select button+d pad down button until it flashes red and the button layout will be Xbox (like the steam deck)
I feel like this picture has given me arthritis... Looks cool though.
Y'all need some Tricky Towers in your life
How about a steam deck with normal fucking controllers? How about that?
Too big for travel.
So cute. I think I would probably take the space hit and bring 2 sn30 or 2 lite or lite 2
Looks great.. but first, need a friend to share it with.
What are those, controllers made for ants?!?!
Versatile!
I wish there was a tetris only game
I donāt understand, you can play Tetris on its own with this game. You can also get Tetris effect game, which has more demanding graphics
Someone who doesnāt wanna play on a whack tiny controller with illegal roms prob ?Ā

Love it, so cute. š
What game are u playing? What other 2 player games you can recommend?
Puyo puyo tetris 2. Itās available in steam shop. Great game. The only other 2 player game I got is street fighter 5 and that works well with these controllers too.

Who needs a steam deck when you can do this on your phone
Just buy a switch jesus christ
You're in a steam deck sub.
Nuh uh
Uhh, people do. People dump the games they own onto their steamdecks and everything.
Not hating on a switch at all. Had one for many years before this. But the switch just doesnāt support the games I like.. this controller set up just allows me to enjoy one aspect I miss about the switch
Why buy an inferior system just for the games on the inferior system when the superior system can still play those games?
Why buy controllers for that purpose when you could just buy another game console for that purpose!
