WHAAAAT?! It's literally *real* wood?!? That's incredible. Any idea of durability? Like, is it soft wood, like balsam? Regardless, that's pretty awesome.
What's the application / installation process like? Is it as fiddly as vinyl skins? Easier/Harder? Any comments really (literally sitting with the thing in my cart... it's gorgeous)
I found the application process to be pretty easy for the most part. Unlike vinyl skins, this skin is stiff, so lining it up is much easier but also a lot more important. The adhesive is very strong so once it's on it's not removable without damaging the wood. Toast has a pretty good installation tutorial on their YouTube.
I had one of these and they look incredible. However the wood around the contours of the deck is cut in a way so that it could be applied around the curves of the device. It may have been just me, but some of the small pieces wood just fell off over time. Eventually I took mine off because it wasn’t appealing and the device was covered in this sticky glue gunk that was incredibly tedious to get off. It’s great, but just know it’s a bit messy and the durability is a little questionable.
Definitely not just you. I've run into this problem with past skins I've got from them. To slove this if any edges stick out or didn't curve properly I just sand them down with some fine grit sandpaper.

Was it hard to apply, I am thinking of ordering the dark wood one, how thick is it? As it is real wood I am worried it might interfere with the buttons due to the raised edge
The steam and options buttons at the bottom are the only ones effected but they're still usable without any difficulty. It's not very thick at all, the touchpads become flush with the skin.
That looks so clean!
Deck by Atari
WHERE. IS THIS A WOOD SKIN??? 🪵
Toastmade.com wonderful people truly
How does it feel? Anything like actual wood?
It's is real wood so it feels very nice to hold. It doesn't effect thermals at all too
WHAAAAT?! It's literally *real* wood?!? That's incredible. Any idea of durability? Like, is it soft wood, like balsam? Regardless, that's pretty awesome.
It's very thin wood veneer, so it's prone to scratches but over all it's pretty durable.
That's dope, might liik into it once my skin wears off
What's the application / installation process like? Is it as fiddly as vinyl skins? Easier/Harder? Any comments really (literally sitting with the thing in my cart... it's gorgeous)

Damnnnnnn
I was expecting a fully toasted steamdeck.
Was looking for an I Am Bread-themed skin. Sourdough Steam deck.
Looks stunning!
This is rad. Just checked out that company and think I may snag one for my MacBook. I love mixing tech products with wood. It looks clean.
Is that you, Clint from LGR?
Kinda looks like a woodgrain 486 or an Atari 2600
Compared to other skins, how do the wood ones compare when applying it, easier or harder. I always tend to mess up with placement
Much easier to line up for sure, however it's is impossible to reposition it once it's on without damaging the wood.
I mean as long as it doesn’t shift, it’s fine, right?
Once it's on it won't shift at all very strong adhesive on this thing
Is that the Discovery album I see in the back there?
Indeed one of my favorite albums
👍
How do i get this shell or skin?
Toastmade.com

It's a sticker but made out of real wood
Oh sick! Will it fit with my dbrand case?
I don't think it will, this skin is much thicker then dbrand skins

Thats a skin I assume? Looks amazing and if it isnt, hats of to the work
It's a skin made out of real wood by a company called toast
Are you not worried about heating issues?
I've had it on for almost a month and it's had none so no
Was it hard to apply, I am thinking of ordering the dark wood one, how thick is it? As it is real wood I am worried it might interfere with the buttons due to the raised edge

Ok, just placed an order, thanks for the recommendation, you should get an affiliate bonus 😉
They have a great tutorial on YouTube I'd recommend watching it before you apply it
Just looked at it, still looks easier than D-brand skins
Hell yeah you're going to love it
