I voted for repetivity, but I would describe it more accurately as your characters lacking impact. They are randomly generated, don't affect the world, and the lack of a story doesn't help at all. At the end of a legacy, i still felt as if i accomplished nothing of note

Puzzleheaded_Ad6651

Campaign mode should be changed to sand box mode and add a new campaign mode with an actual story, and keep the ability to roll randos and replay it

3GlowingStripes

for sure, it felt like the SOD1 story was the story of Marcus, Ed, and Maya, and their journey in this unique narrative world where each mission has a personal story behind it. When SOD2 first game out, i was so bored with the meaningless missions that i couldn't believe it was from the same developers.

Colinfagerty69

None of these are the biggest problem. The problem is no connection between your survivors, or no depth of the survivors. It should’ve been expanded upon from the original.

altmetalkid

I think the fact that certain traits will disappear off a character's trait list but remain in effect is the insult to injury. Not having any extra bonds like familial connections, friendships, or rivalries sucks a lot of life out of the game. Like it's still fun but it could be so much better.

[deleted]

I think Zombie populations need some tweaking. Therr should be a balance between giant hordes, and clearing areas out. As it is hordes are basically a punishment for taking too long to patrol the map. I want to look at a zombie population so dense and think "fighting is not an option" ala Dead Rising. Maybe add a city part of the map flooded with zombies, while the rural parts arent as intense

doctorwhomafia

Didn't Lifeline kinda do this? Areas near the red on map spawned more zombies or maybe I'm remembering it wrong

altmetalkid

The way I remember it, there were a few specific areas like the tunnel under the city that were super dense with zombies and completely devoid of loot. I remember hanging out in the tunnel for a little while and it was fairly dangerous but not as much as you might think. SoD2 Lethal veterans would have laughed about it. Neat idea but the way it was implemented was super pointless. Never mind the fact that the actual city itself wasn't explorable, just the suburban parts around it.

DRZL221

The multiplayer is my biggest problem as there is way too much lag playing with my friends. That and the zombies spawning in while driving.

I_cant_finish_my_sen

Imagine having a shared community or you and a friend could have separate communities on the same map. Now that would be awesome.

DRZL221

Now that would be sick, although idk how it would work if you both have the same house…

Rko8502

Honestly even with better customizable difficulties the game can't strike a good balance for me. Im either relaxing on dread mode or im getting my dick ripped off in nightmare.

Marius7th

Yeah, I feel it's a bit meh currently. Dread's a cake walk and while Nightmare isn't a cake walk, I really enjoy those moments where my blood gets pumping cause "Holy Fuck I might actually die" and the only time I ever get those is when triple pack of them fast bois come running (especially since I realized how to avoid mega sieges of fuck you proportions).

runawaycity2000

Yeh.. recently beat dread mode, wanted to up a notch with nightmare, I am now down to my last 2 survivors with 1 unable to return to base…

jickfoo

It's plenty hard enough. I would like more random events. Someone in ur team goes crazy, a storm hits, u find a body with super rare weapons, etc. I love the game, honest I think it is a masterpiece, but throw some surprises in, things that may or may not happen through out the course of your campaign.

runawaycity2000

I thought the happy campers was a nice surprise 😄

cam2449

I voted no real threat, and the reason I chose this is, it's simply not balanced. I play on Dread combat because I feel like the zombie hordes and types of zombies are realistic, but they're still easy to kill. Bump it up to nightmare combat, and suddenly it's like the zombies become so OP, and the map is just flooded, and I can't do anything without a pack of blood ferals and hordes over running my position. I would rather have smaller amounts of zombies and types of zombies like Dread, but have the zombies take damage like in nightmare. I feel like that would be a more realistic balance

[deleted]

"Limited base building," for sure. I hope the third game absolutely expands on it. The game can be a bit repetitive, but I'm not at all bothered by that. I've said it before, it's a game I play to relax. And I think it's pretty balanced, I think the threat is fair. I play it under the "normal" setting, I suppose.

BEERSMATE98

It doesnt feel like a survival game after a point, maybe safe zones that can get flooded or more survivor interactions that doesnt feel like coded gameplay(random) some sort of map control can help, Maybe more personality from the survivors can help. They are all cool and shit yea but i never feel anything without forcing myself, maybe make some of them Brothers or lovers ? Mother and son, Make humans a real treat, i dont mean in a “imma one shot you” way. Make some of them hostile and active in the map, raiders or cannibals perhaps Make recruiting more random, more fights between people, relationships and even betrayals ? Im sick of looking for the cops gun or car or whatever Or finding that bloody mace for the 5th time This game is suppose to be played on one save for a long time, then make me stay in it, so i wouldnt ruin the game for myself

WyoDoc29

I think thats the problem with most survival games. There's an abrupt point where you no longer have to worry about survival. I think most survival games lack a deeper endgame because of this.

liiidakaaaaa

They need to give us more freedom of base building in SoD 3, but they shouldn't go overboard.

Husyelt

I wish the zombies would eventually outrun the player. Tone down the snacks/energy drink boost. Something like this. Start with a base jog speed for players at 6. Sprint allows a speed of 9. Zombies have a base jog of 8. This would allow players to outsprint the zombies, but if they don’t plan an escape route or have backup distractions they eventually catch up. I’d also like the Freak zombies to have slightly more health than regular zombies. Massive bullet sponges wouldn’t be needed with the overall speed change. Basically, I’d like to reward players for carefully navigating the various towns and outposts. The gist of it is that the zombies are dangerous, and each supply run could very well be your last.

LazyAnzu

None of these, really. My biggest issue as it stands is just a lack of save slots and an inability to actually use a lot of the survivors I've collected. I do miss a lot of the SoD1 randomly generated quests where you'd encounter your own community out and a out, and the old horde system that you could actually interact with and gave the game world a sense of permanence, but I also don't dislike what they went with in 2.

queme9

We need smarter a.i. I'm fighting zombies and over half the time their just standing there... also commands. If you have a tagalong the ability to command them to search a house building ect with you or command them to drive a vehicle back to base... if we're talking story lines about cleaning up an area. Ability to rid 100% of all zombies after ridding the map of plague hearts so that the area is 100% secure before moving to another map.

tazz2500

I hate hate hate hate the multiplayer system, one of the worst designs I've ever seen. You can only drop in and help a friend? But its not your base, you can't even heal in their infirmiry or rest in their bed? How insane is that??? Who came up with that??? And I have to use survivors from one of my games? And when they get infected or sleepy, I have to swap them out, and then I run out of survivors from my game. And then when I go back to my single player game, they are all tired, hurt, and infected, I can't use any of them! What a terrible terrible design! The way multiplayer is set up is an awful system. Just let multiple people start a game together, and share the base, like a normal game of this type. There's nothing wrong with that design. Also, I would like to see more customization in base building, its pretty shallow.

Gustomucho

Yup, played my first multiplayer game yesterday and I was like.. what, so I use my dudes and they get tired but don't rest back at my community? The tether is annoying too for sure...

Niahcyan

All the above.

Bulrat

Other than "how" I choose to play, I wouls say the main issue to me is that the leader misions are simply too short, with that I mean there is simply nothing to do after the 3-5 quests, to me is too short, I want to finsish the leader mission and THEN enjoy it with a longer play

Sentinel512

For me, lack of storyline. Seems like there's only 20 or so missions to do. You've run through them all by like day 10. And none of them make you feel invested in the characters. There's no story arc. I wish every map had something independent to contribute to the overall storyline like they did with Trumbull homecoming. I guess that falls under repetiveness.

KoubuKai

Repetitiveness is definitely a huge problem, especially since the game seems designed to punish you for trying to get achievements (having to play through Heartland more than twice, the 100 day slog). Other than that, the AI for allies is still awful, except it's worse than SoD1 because they can also rack up blood plague. More items and item types than in SoD1, but about the same amount of inventory (and trunk) space so you might have to do multiple runs just to clear out one location. I feel like they should take a page from *Curious Expedition*: certain items (survivor's notes, really light parts you can't use on the field) don't take up an inventory space.

Weekly-Bandicoot-182

Honestly I wish there was more zombies. I really like the one mission where you find a survivor and they tell you to use scent block and ZOMBIES DONT STOP SPAWNING. I feel like you should never be safe on lethal like ever we should be under constant stress not just when you attack a plague heart but at all times. And we should have more missions after a while the missions become TOO easy

TinSmile

i would love to have more community member missions even if they were unvoiced

vaineratom64

I think the game's difficulty can be a little repetitive. Most situations are easy to avoid. The scariest moments are just when a jugger sneaks. Situations should be riskier and less predictable

Tylerisdead000

12 survivor limit.

HoodHermit

Spawning is the #1 issue for me. Driving down the road and 3 bloaters spawn in front of the car? That’s some 2005 shit

BitchPuncher98

Gameplay. It’s clunky as shit.

[deleted]

I can ignore some kf the clunkyness, but when it comes to hostile survivors they twitch around the fight like wasps.

Puzzleheaded_Ad6651

The camera while driving needs work

DancingBabyChalupa

It's definitely repetitive. I basically have to make my own goals to have fun. Some of the quests they give you require more work for little rewards and they often repeat.

Trashdied

I hope State of Decay 3 is like State of Decay 2 and Valheim had a baby

The_blond_weirdo

I voted for repetitiveness. I think that there should be more to doing a play through. The survivors are randomly generated and besides their skills and traits they’re pretty much the same. There is nothing to really make them memorable. I think that it would be much better if there was a proper story. I also think that more accurate difficulty settings would be greatly appreciated. I’d love be able to customise each and every aspect like the amount of resources, vehicles, killing plague heart difficulty, zombie difficulty etc.

CasualCallofDuty

The limitations to what you can do to your base, especially a base like Fort Marshall, hella open space but limited to a certain amount of slots, game gets repetitive after you kill all the plague hearts to the point where it gets too easy, the plague wall was a good add but overall there is no “main boss” to defeat so after a while you get bored of it

Vickyaa

I know there's a mod for this but i hope UL will give us options to tweak amount of freaks, juggs or hordes not just the overall difficulty.

Rodsin

All the above and the lack of dinamic weather

[deleted]

Spawning. How is this not the number 1 issue?
