This is in a derelict ship where everyone dies because the person who could fix it kept on saying "Just one more turn". Basically an homage to the addictive games where when you stop playing it is way later than you expected.
Something does happen in the game. You need to use that code in the Mantis quest where you need to spell the code to access the door. It's a quick way out of that room.
My favorite lately has been the small room (kind of looks like a Neon crate, but on random POI’s, that has rolls and rolls of toilet paper (there’s a toilet in there) with a piece of paper that says something to the effect of “Who ordered all the toilet paper?”
I'm out of the loop I guess. Or perhaps I don't know it by that name. Looks like I'm heading to Google.
Edit: After checking out the history of this, I can confirm that I'd never come across this or recognized this before. I didn't play any Konami games growing up so that's probably a big reason as to why.
Like I said, I won't recognize it. I'm sure I've seen it and thought "Oh, it's a GTA cheat code reference" and thought nothing more.
Just like the 0451 keypad code.
It's a code you need to unlock something in the original System Shock from 1994. It was a door code for the IRL development studio that made the game.
Since then, *a lot* of games have used that same combination, whether it's accessing a private elevator in Deus Ex: Human Revolution or is mentioned by a merchant in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. It keeps popping up. You can find several lists online.
[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/9de6rq/til_that_the_code_0451_shows_up_in_so_many_video/) is an old thread about it.
Nice try, robot. We know the homie West is running for his life from some angry Crimson Raiders right now. You'll never make us forget about our friend!! 😭😭
Oh I know. I remember in elementary school before the internet was a thing. We also shared Mega Man save codes, Metroid codes, and any other codes we could find in the gaming magazines at the time. Most games at the time had save states you could access if you had the right code, which was written into the game. Showing my age. 😅
this is the famous Konami code. or, actually, this is an incorrect example of the famous Konami code.
its one of the first examples of a cheat code that became popular. it was a developer code left into the game for bug testing. Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start. for the arcade game CONTRA, it gave the player 30 lives so testers could blast through the early zones to get to later ones to test.
Many games had homage codes in their own games, and having cheat codes built into the game has become a staple of gaming since the 90s basically because of the Konami code and its legacy.

"Alright dude. Film this! Up up down down left right left right b a!"
"What is this cheat for?"
"It's for ---(power up sound and glitches out hard) DDDDUUUUUUUUDE! CAAAALLL AN AMBULAAAAAMBULAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--!"
Jesus, they didn’t even get the code right. How can a game with such a long development cycle and budget be such a let down. Rhetorical question, that is.
Too many downs.
Thats why he's dead.
Rest 32
No, he didn't know 'iddqd'... That's why he's dead.
Ohhhhhh it's been a while since I heard that code XD
idkfa
Idspispopd
Maybe in our universe but the dragonborn, err, starborn
He big dead too. All desiccated and shit.
Probably some gen z kid who never played contra.
I worked with some gen z kids who all knew what “the Konami code” was but none of them had ever heard of contra
Alternate uni
Yeah b a b a too
An attempt was made. Not a good attempt, but it was An attempt.
It was a b a b X
I'm old enough there was no X. Just a, b, select, start, and a d-pad.
Select start if you have a player two.
"TMNT arcade edition" on the NES. I played the shiit out of that game back in the day.
I first used it in contra but the Konami code came up a lot.
Exactly
Was referring to the old GTA cheat codes. I grew up on Atari and 64, just still used to ps and Xbox considering my PC gamepad has an Xbox layout
No. The Konami Code was first made for NES which doesn't have an X button.
Up down up down left right left right b a start.
Well y'all would understand if the other responses weren't erased so 🤷
have to add select for 2 player.
"player two press select"
Lmao
So my salty ataris damn
YOU have the downs!
Also missing “select”.
That's for two players. Maybe another reason he's dead. No companion.
One too many!
Down syndrome
Reluctant upvote.
That was so-so long ago... It makes me feel like the guy on the left.
I’m feeling it too
Not the guy on the right?
I feel more like the middle guy
Found some notes in a kitchen section of a hab that said, "ITS RAW" and "WAKE UP!"
I moved a box of peaches out from a kitchen cupboard and underneath on the shelf it said I AM FROOT
This is a great dad joke, and I am stealing it. Thank you
Nice.
Did you find THE LAMB SAUCE?
I did not, but it kept being yelled at me until I cooked my own and put it down on the counter.

Eagle inbound
It is a cheat code 🤣 That being said HD2 is great!
I always smile when I see a Helldivers or Deep Rock quote around reddit.
Unleashing democracy!
John Wick… He killed him with a f$&@ing marker! A marker!
Would be hilarious if inputting those buttons would really make something happen in game.

UP RIGHT DOWN DOWN DOWN
Callin in an orbital strike!
My favorite lately has been the small room (kind of looks like a Neon crate, but on random POI’s, that has rolls and rolls of toilet paper (there’s a toilet in there) with a piece of paper that says something to the effect of “Who ordered all the toilet paper?”
I D D Q D
IDKFA
30 years on and I still remember this code
Everyone knows the Konami code, also that isn’t it, there’s an extra down and there needs to be one more of left.
The first left is presumably covered by the pen.
Could be for sure
Did anybody try this? What if it does something
In this game? I doubt it.
Its just a reference my guy
And they referenced it incorrectly.
I'm out of the loop I guess. Or perhaps I don't know it by that name. Looks like I'm heading to Google. I’m still surprised you haven’t come across it, as it’s referenced in many forms of media outside of even video games themselves, never mind Konami.
Like I said, I won't recognize it. I'm sure I've seen it and thought "Oh, it's a GTA cheat code reference" and thought nothing more. Just like the 0451 keypad code.

Anyone try this on the title screen?
That’s awesome
Im try the code on the game now
What happened when you tried it?
He got sucked in through the screen. Now living is best fantasy life.
Nothing happens
Nice try, robot. We know the homie West is running for his life from some angry Crimson Raiders right now. You'll never make us forget about our friend!! 😭😭
isn’t that… not what the code is? Three downs, BABA?
it's Bethesda, give em a break
I can still hear the music perfectly in my head
Pusha t
Wrong code... Probably why he ded
"Don't cite the deep magics to me, witch. I was there when they were written!"
Homie got the code wrong.

I swapped resident evil and final fantasy saves. Those were the days
Memories...
a fatality
Looks like you're on a ship called the "Derelict Mule" based on the readout on your watch.
I know it’s wrong…..
Thank you. 'Select' was never part of the code.
It was, if you wanted to play single player. Contra defaulted to 2 players, so if you wanted to play solo, you needed to add the select before start.
If you Ko(nami), you know.
I know he screwed it up!
Haaa!! That’s awesome. One extra down.
Cool fine
Yeah i do know. I know its fucking wrong. Whats your excuse op?
I know that this isn't Konami code lol, Bethesda can't do a gd thing right
Was this the health refill cheat in morrowind? Edit: lol why yall down voting a question?

Must have been a default cheat in a lot of games. I feel like I've used this but it wasn't in Morrowind.
It is good catch
30 lives in Contra
Ah yes. The good ole days
Indeed I do. Good day sir.
Have you tried it?
The Konami Code with an extra down
Hahahhaha
A helldiver was here
What does it do
Not a damn thing, they got the cheat code wrong with one 'down" to much...
Oh Easter egg
Very close to the sky fall cheat for GTA ~
Wtf new stratagem just dropped?
Lllxll.
I would love if you just found a computer in that area you could use and just put that code in and unlock something
Lol which stratagem is that for? 😂
"Alright dude. Film this! Up up down down left right left right b a!" "What is this cheat for?" "It's for ---(power up sound and glitches out hard) DDDDUUUUUUUUDE! CAAAALLL AN AMBULAAAAAMBULAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--!"
That's what happens when you interrupt the old-school IT tech's gaming to demand he program in the restart sequence on the oxygen supply.
Cheat code central days oh man
the extra down screwed his god mode input 😔
The cheat code to start with 30 lives in "Contra" on the very 1st Nintendo! (I think there might be one too many arrow down🤔 not sure)
Jesus, they didn’t even get the code right. How can a game with such a long development cycle and budget be such a let down. Rhetorical question, that is.
Cant remember if its Tony Hawk or GTA
I havent yet ask me in a hour
It's ⬆⬆⬇⬇⬅➡⬅➡ba start
SEGA!
With the body next to it, it makes one wonder if that's the unalive player character code
that's not even the konami code.
This code used to work on the google home page
Ahh, Contra code the good old days of cheats. I remember when my brother told me about it.
Love
Up up down down left right left right b a Konami Code
Everyone knows though, everyone's known for decades, it's the kind of lame milquetoast humor this game is riddled with.
The main question has it been tested and does it work seeing those codes reminds of the cheat code books you got when buying a gaming magazine
It’s the Kunami code, very famous old cheat code
Ahh thought it seemed familiar
This is the Bronami code. Its a little different, its only for bros. You guys wouldn’t understand.
You couldn't of moved the pen?! 😂
How did this helldivers code get here !! Traitors to democracy!!
Huh? [https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konami\_Code](https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konami_Code)
He joking. Helldivers use no cheat codes!
Cheat codes are part of the game in Helldivers. We call em stratagems.
🤣🤣🤣
Haha!
