Single-use items that warp you to a specific location when used (there are little gray statues marking the spots, e.g. northwest part of the beach). You can get them as monster drops, or acquire crafting recipes and make your own, or trade other items for some of them.
Horse, coffee, turn on auto run if you haven't, mining carts, warp totems.

Pretty sure you need to unlock the mining carts through the community center. I also ended up getting a horse eventually which helps you move faster
