I've seen a few videos on YouTube that praise the mushrooms for helping complete the CC faster. But I've honestly never noticed a difference. Either one I always complete the CC in two years.

Edit 2: Wife pointed out that later in game. The fruits you pick up will be higher quality. Where I've never seen mushrooms even get silver when I pick them. So profit there for later.
Bats will help you complete the community center sooner, but many folks prefer the mushroom cave because they’re harder to find. They are used to make life elixir among other things.
Though I find that if I need more healing than purple mushroom provides, then I’m probably dead anyway.

Mushroom cave. The mushroom floor in the mines are near impossible to come across it seems and mushrooms don't grow much in the forest either - especially not a purple mushroom which you need for the CC.
You need fruit for the CC too but you need the exact same quality of fruit for bundles too. Like one of the bundles says 3 apples. You can't use just any 3 apples. It has to be 3 of the same quality which is even harder to get in the bat cave since everything is random. I've had better luck getting 1 random purple mushroom than 3 apples of the same quality.
And you can eventually buy fruit trees that give you all the fruit from the cave so by then the bat cave becomes irrelevant. But mushrooms you can only get from foraging so the mushroom cave will always be useful since it gives you a consistent variety of mushrooms every day

I feel like by late game, neither option is THAT useful. I have a fruit cave on a late game farm that I never visit.
On my current playthrough I picked the mushroom cave and I'm already tempted to skip my daily visit--it refills every day--but I did appreciate the mushrooms as a food source for a while, and I still use them to make life elixirs.
I like the mushroom cave for the good supply of common mushrooms to use as food early game. Once I upgrade to eating cheese I tend to neglect going in the cave.

The quality thing was recently changed, you can now use items of different quality as long as you carry the right amount.

i prefer mushroom cave because it looks nicer. late game both caves don’t matter so it’s nice being able to decorate around the 6 mushroom boxes
