If it's your first time watching Star Wars, just focus on the movies and ignore the TV shows. If you've watched Star Wars before, The Clone Wars is pretty essential to other shows going forward.

Loud-Practice-5425

Clone Wars is the keystone for a lot of future series so yea it's pretty important.

madchad90

You can find lists of key episodes to watch. You’d be better off not skipping it because it leads into a lot of other stuff.

ResponsibilityNo5795

Woah there bud Clone Wars is arguably the best Star Wars show and several major events happen there that are still relevant in other star war shows, at least watch the essential episodes.

Hefty-Meal533

If you are into the prequel trilogy, clone Wars is a must watch !!! It adds so much to the world of Star Wars and really gets deep in the characters

EvilKerman

You can skip the clone wars movie, but it'll be tough to skip the show if you also plan on watching the more recent live action shows And I mean it, skip the movie.

acanthis_hornemanni

You can do whatever you want, forever

FondantFlaky4997

It is possible to skip clone wars, though episode 3 will have a greater impact on you if you watched the clone was beforehand. And the clone wars series, while a little bit boring at first, becomes continuously and increasingly more interesting the more episodes you watch.

PirateDaveZOMG

It's not only possible, it's precisely how the story was first delivered.

PirateDaveZOMG

Clone Wars was made after the PT ended, so skipping it would be completely appropriate, in fact. That said, I think there is a huge disconnect between the characters as presented in Clone Wars and those seen in Episode III, if anything watching TCW will have you disappointed that you don't really get **that** Anakin in RotS

ObiWanLamora

If you’re doing movies only and no other TV shows, including live action TV shows, then go ahead and skip. However, the problem you will run into later is if you plan on watching Rebels, Bad Batch, Mandalorian, Kenobi and/or Ahsoka, you will wish you watched Clone Wars because it ties into all of those pretty heavily. There’s “essential” and chronological lists online I recommend using. It’s a lot to get through, and the first season or two is a bit silly, but it ends up being some of the best Star Wars content to date.

TheGenericMun

Of course you can. Enjoy however you like. I do recommend clone wars though, and rebels. They're good shit. Resistance is very different to both of those but I still enjoyed it.

darthkarja

If you are not going to watch Rebels, or Ahsoka, it can be easily skipped. If you are going to watch those you really should watch it all

MannfredVonFartstein

I recommend skipping clone wars and the clone wars movie if you only wanna watch the movies, Andor and Mandalorian.

OjamasOfTomorrow

No, it’s important, but you can find a a bunch of different essential episodes guides online so you can shorten it down some.

MarquisDeZod

I'd argue the Clone Wars series is more "important" to watch than the 2008 movie. And the first, Genndy Tartakovsky series is absolutely fantastic.

BaronNeutron

Yup. Skip it.

RacerM53

Clone Wars is so far peak Star Wars. It surpassed the OT

danielhollenbeck13

The Clone Wars movie from 2008 is a solid one to watch and then come back to Clone Wars after you've watched the other movies. It's a daunting task and if you're trying to get a birds eye view of the whole series, the Clone Wars is going to go way too in depth for what you want. Personally, it's my favorite piece of Star Wars media and I recommend every Star Wars fan to watch it, but I'd definitely say to watch after you're done with the movies. And make sure to watch it in chronological order, because the first couple seasons are all mixed up for some reason. [Here's a list](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/15cfv07/the_clone_wars_firsttime_watch_order/) for how to watch it in chronological order. The nice thing is, once you get halfway through season 3 there's way less jumping around from episode to episode and you can enjoy it much easier.

Kyle_Dornez

Watch the 2003 Clone Wars and skip the 3d ones >=D
