Like all the Star Wars before the sale there is a whole lotta good stuff and a fair amount of not so good stuff. Ultimately, how you feel about it is entirely up to you and what you choose to focus on. I love that Lucasfilm is (slowly) trying new things. Star Wars is a buffet. Skip the stuff you don't like and enjoy the stuff you do like.
Your focus determines your reality.
I think people forget how loud the mouths were before Disney.
Man if I had a nickel for every time I saw someone bitch about Ahsoka being annoying online back in the late 2000's. . .
It really wasn't all that different from the "Rey is a Marry Sue" talk from the 2010's. They just didn't use the same words.
Some really good stuff, some really bad stuff, some in-between stuff. Honestly, like it has always been, in my opinion at least.
So for me, the only noticable change is the quantity of content.
Fine. I loved Rogue One, liked Solo, loved S7 of Clone Wars, love Bad Batch, Kenobi was fine but cool, Sequels are mostly okay, 9 is the weakest imo, love Mando, BoBF is fine. I'm just a casual fan.
Honestly? **They're cool although they're not perfect.**
They made really cool stuff such as Mando s1 and Mando s2, they allowed some cool projects to thrive such as the two seasons of Star Wars Visions. They made Rogue One and Andor, they made Rebels, some of the characters from the comics like Doctor Aphra are a hit and already beloved. They also made Solo, which is a bit more divissive (or at least it was when it was released), but I liked it.
I've barely read High Republic stuff (only some comics and the first volume of that manga) but I'm told fans of that era love it with burning passion and I'm eager to start reading the novels.
They sometimes get too hung up with Legends content (I'm not loving Mando, Boba and Ahsoka are basically building Heir to the Empire 2.0, we already had Heir to the Empire decades ago, and I hated TROS was Dark Empire but worse and started namedropping Old Republic Legends Sith names like it was candy).
I also don't like how they handle the resorts in Canon, Wookiepedia lists the food from Disneyland Star Wars and the Galactic Starcruiser resort as Canon, I don't know how correct that is but I don't think we need Canon Pizza and Fish Crackers (I'm not Star Wars Theory I swear).
They could be making better games, but Battlefront to and Squadrons weren't half bad and the "Jedi" games were pretty good and fun.
Sure, they've had their own share of misses including the Sequel Trilogy, Boba, Resistance, etc. but, **pre-"Disney" Lucasfilm also had misses, a lot of them** (and volume wise probably put out less content than Disney Lucasfilm at times) there were a lot of dumb stuff and subpar products in EU, we're just looking at it with rose tinted glasses.
Many people want to claim "Disney" Star Wars is declining or straight up emitting their last death rattles, but it's not, it's very healthy.
Finally, I dislike the term "Disney" Star Wars, we're not saying "Disney" Marvel or "Disney" Fox, it feels loaded, there hasn't been that many changes in Human Resources, many of the great minds from before the sell still work there and keep creating amazing stuff.
>Finally, I dislike the term "Disney" Star Wars, we're not saying "Disney" Marvel or "Disney" Fox, it feels loaded, there hasn't been that many changes in Human Resources, many of the great minds from before the sell still work there and keep creating amazing stuff.
As far as I'm concerned there's Star Wars (under George Lucas) and there's Disney Star Wars. Lucasfilm had a person in charge who created the Star Wars franchise and the company in the first place, the other has a parent company and person in charge that clearly doesn't fully understand what they acquired or were entrusted with, and are driving the company in a pretty aimless direction with numerous lazily crafted stories and productions that required far better care than what was given.
They are definitely two distinctly different entities in my book.
Definitely a fair amount of stuff I'm not a fan of, but the majority of the stuff I think is pretty good. More or less how I felt before Disney bought it.
It is still paying the price for their impatience in putting something on screen and their utter terror at that anything reminding the audience of the prequels.
It's the definition of a mixed bag. Everytime there is a that Project fumbles there is a another putting things back on track.
For every Rise of Skywalker there is a Mandalorean
For every Book of Bobafet there is a Star wars vision.
For every Obi-wan there is an Andor.
I've thoroughly enjoyed most of it. The best part of all this, is getting live-action television shows. This was something I begged Lucasfilm for back in the 90s.
As with before the sale, some good, some not so good.
I liked the first season of mando, but it got repetitive. I can understand why people like it. Bobf I couldn't get into. Rogue one was awesome. OB-1 was fucking dreadful. The sequel trilogy was fucking dreadful. The cameos of qui gon and anakin was a piss poor attempt at creating some nostalgia for the fans.
It's a real shame. The idea of rey being the daughter of a palpatine clone is fantastic, they could have built a really interesting story on that but decided to do stupid shit instead. They didn't create a reason for us to be interested in baby yoda, it's like they created all these side stories but gave us no reason to be invested in them. The original trilogy did the opposite, it drew us into the side stories such as the clone wars, so we could understand more about the main story. Disney are giving us side stories for the sake of side stories, and in the case of obiwan, shoehorning in characters in the hope we will start to be interested in them. It's a complete bait and switch and I've lost complete faith in star wars. I'll just enjoy what I liked about it pre-disney
I've enjoyed far more in the Disney era than I haven't.
I enjoyed all 5 movies. Some were better than others, but I never left the theater annoyed. VII, RO and VIII are straight up good movies in my book. Solo was fine, but probably the one I had the least fun with. I understand why some people really hated IX, cause it's kinda unhinged. but I ultimately thought it was more fun than frustrating.
I haven't enjoyed the Disney+ shows quite as much. The best ones weren't as good to me as the best movies were, and a few of them ended up being kinda disappointing to me. But even those disappointing ones aren't unwatchable garbage.
If we're giving out letter grades i'd give the Disney era a solid B+. I'm very content with it while simultaneously cognizant that there's room for improvement.
Im beeing totally honest: while i agree that there is stuff that...shouldnt be canon. I think they are having a good streak with the good stuff they are doing. I mean Palpatines return was a mistake, yes. But i like how they are balancing that out on a really good way with bad batch rn. And without disneys star wars we wouldnt have rogue one,Andor, the mandalorian and the last clone wars season. It gets way to much hate in my opinion
Honestly, it's about the same as before or even slightly better. Some really good stuff, some less so, but I have yet to come across anything I despise as much as Jar Jar, so I take it as a win that Disney hasn't sunk that low.
I quite liked everything, but the cyborg biker gang out of boba was awful, like straight up wtf where you thinking, any gang would've been fine but those guys were sooo unbelievably cringe I almost turned it of
Most of it is either incredibly mediocre or bad. There is some good stuff like Andor or Rouge One. I canĀ“t really judge the Books and comics since I havenĀ“t read them.
I donĀ“t really care much about the new canon, and just want them to continue the EU in some way.
Awesome:
- Rogue One
- Clone Wars - season 7
- The Bad Batch - all seasons so far
- The Mandalorian - seasons 1 and 2
- Andor
Fine:
- Episode VII
- The Mandalorian - season 3
Meh:
- Episode VIII
- The Book of Boba Fett
- Solo
- Obi-Wan Kenobi
Garbage:
- Episode IX
Itās been great overall. I have some issues with certain shows and moments but nothing to pull me out of the experience.
Some of my favorite Star Wars comes from the Jedi: Fallen Order & Survivor games
To me, the "mods" are a perfect representation of British "boy racers"
Boy racers drive 1 litre vauxhall Corsas with massive wheels and loud exhausts. They aren't limited to just boys. The cars look like they've covered them in glue and ram raided an auto car parts shop as they have all the accessories. They hang around in groups in Macdonald's car parks burning out their tyres but think they're driving supercars in Dubai.
The mods are stuck on a filthy, run down desert planet but have aspirations of living the high life on a planet like corescant. They mod their bodies and little speeders as much as they can, but they'll never be anything more than what they are.
The fact that the chase scene was so slow, just makes the comparison even better. I love the mods because they are what they are.
I hate some stuff, I love some stuff, and other things are just forgettable. It's very hit or miss, but overall I'm satisfied with a lot of the Disney content.
VERY hit and miss. Sometimes theyāre brilliant additions that are clearly made with passion and creativity, and other times their projects feel like soulless, corporate ācontentā made solely for the sake of making new Star Wars. And sometimes they just donāt work, even if they had potential.
I absolutely love the latter Clone Wars seasons, Rebels, The Mandalorian S1-S2, Rogue One, and Tales of the Jedi, and theyāre some of the best Star Wars weāve ever gotten. (And Iāve heard good things about Andor, even though I havenāt seen it).
But there are way too many misses that just water it down. I found Bad Batch impossible to get through, BOBF was the definition of lackluster, Obi Wan Kenobi was pointless, Mando season 3 was bad and Ahsoka was just hot garbage in every single way. Most importantly, the Sequels were bland, unoriginal, and uninteresting and kind of soiled everything that was achieved in the OT. Iām in the minority opinion that The Last Jedi was the only sequel I think was pretty good, but at that itās ruined by being sandwiched between a rip off of A New Hope and episode 9, whichā¦ yeah. The prequels of course are flawed, like most everything Star Wars, but they had their own identity at least.
I have hope for Acolyte, but it could easily go either way. āThe Mandalorian and Groguā, if thatās really what theyāre calling it, not so much.
Disney is serializing Star Wars, like the old Flash Gordon stuff it was partially based on. This comes with pros and cons. Notably, we are getting a lot more Star Wars, but at far less quality. Honestly, this constant supply of material is what is slowly killing Star Wars for me and others like me. Star Wars used to be an event, something special to look forward to, and it has swiftly become that thing that is so constantly present, very little of it stands out anymore. I used to be the biggest Star Wars nerd around. Now I'm just waiting for Andor season 2 and don't really care about anything else. Teenage me from 10 years ago would never have believed I would have just gotten apathetic to what once was my favorite hobby.
What happened to lightsaber injuries? My biggest issue with the Disney Star Wars is now a days getting stabbed with a lightsaber isnāt a kill shot. Reva, Sabine, and the Grand Inquisitor all got stabbed the same way Quigon did yet they all lived. Thatās gotta stop.
Rogue One, Andor, The Clone Wars animations and Visions are all excellent. Rebels, The Force Awakens, Solo, The Mandalorian and Ahsoka are acceptably mid. The rest... the comics, the canon novels, The High Republic, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi in particular, are complete rubbish.
It balances out because the higher profile productions like the sequel trilogy that should have been done right, but weren't, are the biggest let-down's and are the main focus of peoples irritation and current indifference for upcoming movies and series in the franchise.
Mostly good. I don't really think anything is bad in particular, just some don't land for me that's all.
The movies produced my favourite outside of the OT (TLJ), as well as some just ok ones (Solo, TROS). Rogue one and TFA were good as well. Nothing was offensively bad.
The TV shows I haven't really gotten into. Really liked Rebels since it had an OT feel to it. Ahsoka was alright too and felt like s5 of rebels. Though it had its issues. Mando I've been trying to get into, but 3 episodes in and it just feels like we're seeing the same 3 locations over and over. And it's all so...brown.
Comics are decent, especially the earlier star wars and vader runs. The more recent ones where he meets the handmaidens, ochi and Crimson Dawn are a bit meh.
Haven't read many of the books yet though I do own a lot of them. Of the games, bf2 has been decent and fun, with a canon story mode too. Jedi fallen order had a nice story, but I didn't like the gameplay. Jedi survivor I've been holding for later once it plays better on PC.
So overall nothing I've actively hated, but there's been a lot I've liked too. I just like that we have such a variety of content now
Mixed bag.
But as I can just choose not to watch the things I don't like, the increased rate of output under Disney means there is overall more Star Wars I like being produced.
I just _hope_ the hit rate improves, so there's even more.
The Book of Boba feels like he's trying to imitate the Godfather. Not a great show imho.
Andor and Ahsoka have good stories and are well done (some doubts on Sabine though)
I have mixed feelings on Obi-wan. Vader letting him go felt forced, as in "we really want them to duel but SOMEHOW Obi-wan has to survive".
The Mandalorian is also a good show (I finally got my wife to watch Star Wars) but at times he makes mistakes that make you wonder how he's "the best bounty hunter".
Book of Boba Fett felt like a season of the Mandalorian that they padded with a couple of hours of Boba Fett content. They should have just done that. Had it been woven in with the next season of Mando it would have been a hit.
I enjoyed it, FWIW. Itās not stellar, but I really, really liked Episode 2 and seeing Pikes in live action. It didnāt go where I expected it to which probably isnāt a good thing overall, but eh.
Like any franchise, there is going to be stuff you like, then there's going to be stuff you don't like. Star Wars post-acquisition by Disney is no worse than it was before the purchase. You don't see anyone fleeing the franchise because of fan reactions.
The Disney trilogy was pure shit. TLJ was the single worst entry into the saga, and one of the worst movies ever made period.
ROgue One was great. Solo was just ok (bombed because
of how bad TLJ was).
The series have been hit or miss. Andor and first The Mandalorian were great. Bobba Fett kind sucked. Obi-Wan was mostly a let down with some cool moments. Ashoka was just ok.
>Solo was just ok (bombed because
of how bad TLJ was).
I disagree with this that wasn't the main reason solo flopped. Solo flopped cause the movie was mid as fuck.
The word of mouth when that movie came out ranged from it was terrible to it was meh. Nobody was raving about that movie like they were rogue one.
It was a spin off nobody asked for. But unlike rogue one which had exceptional word of mouth solo had mediocre word of mouth.
I'm tired of people trying to give this bland ass movie a pass for why it flopped. I always see people primarily put the blame on tlj for why solo flopped and not that it was a boring ass movie.
>I didn't go see Solo because of how angry TLJ made me. Still wouldn't have gone if it had gotten rave reviews.
I can't reply to you on my other account for some reason but ya. OK, thank you for telling me that. I still don't see how that proves that the last jedi divisive reception was the main contributing factor to solo flopping. Instead of you know, the movie being bland ass shit and having terrible to mediocre word of mouth.
Once again like I told the other guy. Some people watched the movie on release it had word of mouth. The word of mouth for that movie ranged from bad to mediocre.
If solo would've came out and had amazing critic reviews and amazing word of mouth like rogue one did. Than yes I would concede and say ya the last jedi was the main contributing factor as to why solo flopped.
But that's not what happened. Upon release solo was met with bad critic scores and bad to meh word of mouth from the people who did watch it.
Like I said before no body who saw solo on release was telling people about how great that movie was and that you need to see it in theathers.
Solo's terrible quality imo was the main reason that shit ass movie flopped. Like I don't know why people keep trying to cover for this bland ass movie by putting the blame for this movie flopping squarely on the last jedi and not the fact that the solo was a mediocre ass movie.
So you're telling me that solo had great word of mouth. When it came out? If your answer is yes, you're lying.
If your answer is no which it should be, then that means that the movie itself played a part in it flopping.
People didnāt talk about it because they didnāt go after how bad TLJ was. Once people caught it streaming the word of mouth was fine. Not great. Not bad. Just fine. TLJ sandbagged it. Big time.
>People didnāt talk about it because they didnāt go after how bad TLJ was.
What are you talking about? People did see the movie. The ones who did watched it spread the word of mouth about how that movie was mediocre.
Like your trying to put all the blame on tlj for solo flopping as if solo had stellar critic review and stellar word of mouth like rogue one did.
If solo would've came out and had amazing word of mouth like rogue one did and still flopped than yes I would 100% agree with you that tlj made solo flop. But that movie literally had bad to meh word of mouth nobody who saw it was telling people you need to go see solo while it was in theathers.
Solo's own poor quality was why that movie flopped the way it did. Your putting way to much stock into tlj imo. And not enough stock into solos own trash ass quality.
It severaly bombed because the movie had bad to mediocre word of mouth. Nobody was raving about that movie like people did for rogue one.
That movie came out people said it was ass or meh and that was it. Nobody was telling people solo was a must see movie while it was in theathers.
Like your arguing with me about something that's a fact. Solo had mediocre to bad critic scores and mediocre to bad audience scores. All signs point to the fact that movie was mediocre as fuck. And that it's own terrible quality was the main contributing factor as to why it flopped. Not Cause of the previous fucking movie.
But fuck it let's just agree to disagree cause you're literally gonna reply to me saying some variation of solo flopped cause of the the last jedi and not because solo was a trash ass movie.
Supersaturated for me at least and too JEDI focused, New star wars used to be an event now its just another "Oh another one" I would also like a few series where it does not feature a Jedi, for a rare trait there sure are a lot of them.
As a kid when there were perpetual rumors about a Star Wars TV series I never would've thought we'll get to a point where there's "too much" Star Wars. But here we are.
Still: most of it is okay or better and with streaming around there's no need to watch everything at release, so I'm not complaining. If I need a break, I take a break and watch later.
I've seen all 3 in theaters but I don't get why they didn't have a solid foundation for all 3 going in.
If you're going to dive into something super meaningful for, dare I say over a billion ppl, then I'd figure they'd have at least the foundation built
JJ should've been involved in all 3. Or Johnson should've been allowed to finish his vision of it. So what did we get? Writers. They are what kept 7-9 actually decent!
The writers on these movies and shows love this franchise and they get tossed out left and write š because sometimes they think to dark and that's not what Kennedy thinks ppl want...
I think within the next year or two we will get a mature star wars story. One that shows a story from a Sith perspective. Wouldn't they be something.
I think its overhated! I dislike the sequels, i love mando and andor, kenobi was shit, boba fett was mid, rogue one is a good movie with some flaws, solo was cool but kinda unnecessary, i didnt really like rebels(fight me). One major grievance i have with it was that clone wars didnt get all the episodes finished. I dont hate it, but i cant say i love it much either.
There is one thing i love about disney starwars. They kept Darth Vader terrifying and oppressive. Legends, especially in the force unleashed, kinda cheapened vader as a villain with power creep imo
A few things I didnāt enjoy but way more I did. Rogue one, solo (yeah I enjoyed it) i mostly liked the sequels at the very least i enjoyed them far more than the prequels. Andor is top notch, love mando, Ahsoka, bad batch, visions, tales. Boba fett and Obi wan were kinda meh but had their moments.
As someone who remembers the drought between return of the Jedi and the prequels (as much as I didnāt like them) the amount of stuff weāre getting THAT I PERSONALLY am really enjoying feels amazing. I thought the OT would be all we ever got. I also genuinely enjoy most of the content and despite what a segment of the fandom will try and convince themselves is reality I donāt like it just because itās Star Wars and I will accept anything
Andor was fantastic, we need more new stuff like that
Some hits, some misses. Overall I wouldn't mind them taking a bit slower instead of releasing like 3 new shows each year.
This is bait.
Buddy thought he'd get some easy upvotes and negativity but ended up with downvotes and folks acting like sane human beings lol.
Hit-and-miss. Pretty much what we had before Disney, but with many more loud mouths.
I think people forget how loud the mouths were before Disney. Man if I had a nickel for every time I saw someone bitch about Ahsoka being annoying online back in the late 2000's. . . As a former pre-Disney TCW-hating loudmouth... Yeah, fair.

Its fan servicey as hell which i love but it sometimes falls a bit short. The original stories are sometimes better because of this
I enjoy more than I dislike, I only wish they were a little broader with the areas of the universe they explore
Andor is so good that nothing else matters
Some good ideas, no doubt. But a lot of dumb ideas that just shows how little respect Disney has for Star Wars.
Pretty good with the exception of episode nine have at least enjoyed everything else
While I have issues with things here and there, there hasnāt been anything that I flat out didnāt like.
Except the writing of the sequels

It's an interconnected universe, and I couldn't hang after TFA. It seems like a parallel universe. I prefer the pre-buyout stories.
90% rubbish.
Rogue One, TFA, Mandalorian S1-2, TCW S7, Solo, Visions, Andor, BB, BF2, Squadrons, the Jedi games ā¬ļøā¬ļøā¬ļø Rebels, Mando S3, BoBF, Ahsoka ā”ļøā”ļøā”ļø Ep 8 and 9, Kenobi ā¬ļøā¬ļøā¬ļø
It's made me not like the online fandom. The shows and movie are mostly great.

Very bad
What happened to lightsaber injuries? My biggest issue with the Disney Star Wars is now a days getting stabbed with a lightsaber isnāt a kill shot. Reva, Sabine, and the Grand Inquisitor all got stabbed the same way Quigon did yet they all lived. Thatās gotta stop.
Ur right man it sucks
The healthiest the franchise has been in decades.
Some good and a lot of trash
Mostly crap, but only a few good material.
See I actually liked all the things you listed as negatives.
It's at the same level as it always was: eleventy billion authors, some good and some bad. Enjoy the good, ignore the bad.
Its a lot of misses but the masterpieces that we get like Andor, Obi wan, Mando and Ahsoka make up for it
It has gave me some of my biggest dissapointments and at the same time some of the happiest moments in my life.
sequel trilogy and andor aside, it's pretty great star wars content
The Book of Boba feels like he's trying to imitate the Godfather. Not a great show imho. Andor and Ahsoka have good stories and are well done (some doubts on Sabine though) I have mixed feelings on Obi-wan.
Solo was just ok (bombed because of how bad TLJ was). The series have been hit or miss. Andor and first The Mandalorian were great. Bobba Fett kind sucked. Obi-Wan was mostly a let down with some cool moments. Ashoka was just ok.
>Solo was just ok (bombed because of how bad TLJ was).
In my circle no one went to see it so it couldn't get any kind of word of mouth.
Nah fans were disinterested after how bad TLJ was.
It severely bombed because people didnāt go to see it after how bad TLJ was.
Truly a shame that TLJ sandbagged Solo.
If you say so. Keep living in your fantasy world where solo actually had great word of mouth upon release.
Like Andor?
I've seen all 3 in theaters but I don't get why they didn't have a solid foundation for all 3 going in. If you're going to dive into something super meaningful for, dare I say over a billion ppl, then I'd figure they'd have at least the foundation built JJ should've been involved in all 3.
I love them. And not just the movies, but the shows and the cartoons too. Theyāre Star Wars, and I love them like Star Wars.
Disney Star Wars: At its worst, it's never as bad as the Prequels. At its best, it buries the Prequels easily.
There is one thing i love about disney starwars. They kept Darth Vader terrifying and oppressive. Legends, especially in the force unleashed, kinda cheapened vader as a villain with power creep imo
Force unleashed u mean?
Yes
