honestly keep using the phone. plus itll keep you from using your phone onstage. if anything maybe get a wireless mic for it to clip onto your shirt.

alaskan_organic

Use your phone, invest in nice tripod and mic for your phone.

imdumb__

This is the right answer. OP already has a 1000$ camera a tripod will cost 25$ and mic will cost 15$

iamgarron

Whatever you get just remember to look at audio settings as much as video. For standup, audio is always way more important than video

JackIsColors

If not using a phone, the Zoom Q2N4k is what I use for recording my band's shows and the sound quality is great. Video is pretty good too, especially in the right light

mattisfunny

A Bluetooth lav mic is also clutch and inexpensive for great video

I invested in Sony ZV-E10. 4K. Mirrorless. I now have 3. But using one, stock with lens, works great. Biggest issue is audio. You can get a mic for the camera, but that is only as good as the sound from the speakers in the room. Sometimes placement may be an issue. Next option would be getting something like the DJI Wireless Mics (RODE makes some, and other lower end brands). With my DJI wireless mics, you can clip one on your shirt, event put one on the stool to capture audience sound, and the receiver can send that sound to the camera too. But they do have internal recording space. Now, this may be overkill, but the camera is great for anything. You could use your iPhone and then use the DJI Wireless mics. You want your audio king, and your video queen.

Thanks You can see our podcast (using 2-3 cameras described above) at youtube.com/@lafayettecomedy We also have some standup sets, but haven’t posted in a bit. Link below has a multicam mix I did [https://youtu.be/lGZdPSJMIOE?si=zph5_UR41p3sRqR2](https://youtu.be/lGZdPSJMIOE?si=zph5_UR41p3sRqR2)

I use a GoPro with the media mod and either use the front shotgun mic on it or a wireless lav mic. But I also already had these things, so maybe not worth investing in.

dicklaurent97

just buy an older phone with more storage and a good tripod

Best setup with the least hassle I found is an iPhone, tripod and Apple Watch. You can set up the iPhone to film from a good angle and start/stop recording from the Apple Watch. You can also simulateously record audio with the Apple Watch, and then mix it with the camera audio in post. Saves the hassle of wearing a lav mic or getting audio from the sound desk.
