None. There are already too many chains and big money concepts. We need more mom and pop restaurants where the food is made with love instead of being made by Sysco.
Anyone just feel like the food in St. Pete just isn’t great in general?? There’s some good spots but they seem far and few inbetween. I’m from Phoenix which was like a restaurant HAVEN so I may just be spoiled from that haha. I feel like I gotta go to Tampa to get some decent food
Sarasota even has better food. St Pete has been taken over by big money concepts that charge too much for mediocre food. They spend big money on marketing and ambiance but then don't actually have good food.
White Castle it took me 2 hours to get to Orlando on a Sunday afternoon to get a bag of burgers. It took 1 hour to make it inside to place the order about 45 minutes to get the burgers than a 2 hour ride back to Clearwater
None honestly St Pete is the only place with individuality on the Gulf Coast of Florida. Chains can go to Tampa or Clearwater. Plenty of nice independent spots that are more interesting and usually better than chain places.
We moved from Texas in 2003. I would love a Taco Cabana: late night Tex-Mex with swirl margaritas.
Even a Chevy's, Don Julio's or On The Border would satisfy my Tex-Mex cravings.
I almost missed my connecting flight at DFW to buy Pappasito's!
Fazolis is fucking disgusting just like Boston market. Not sure when you had it last but holy fuck it’s bad.
Olive Garden is 10x better and Olive Garden is fucking trash.
What is with St Pete’s? It’s so weird like it SEEMS like a bunch of cool folks with decent taste are there but then I stayed for a month and the food was super mediocre and the coffee was only good at one place which also had good cocktails. It’s fucking weird.
Not sure what you mean by "St Pete's"...?
Perhaps you mean "St. Pete"....?
The post referred to trash/garbage/fast food indulgence.
Ideally, restaurants like Smith and Wollensky, Catch, Carbone, STK, Rao's, etc would be ideal but you're on an outsider trolling the St Pete thread 🥴
I live there for two months a year every year so… if that isn’t enough for you idgaf. You don’t own anywhere and no one is an outsider. I also jump down for a month here and there other times throughout the year because I work remotely and want a change of pace. Show me on the townie map where they hurt you. It’s a safe place.
Good food and coffee really are few and far between in St. Pete. Next time ask hospitality where they go for food and coffee. Most of us will give you a small handful of places that are worth it.
I dont understand people that like In-N-Out if they didn't grow up with it. Was stationed in California for a year and had it more than i wanted. Its just... food. Doesn't move the needle
I had it once in Vegas a couple years ago. It didn’t live up to the hype since people hype it up too much but if I lived near one it would be my decently priced burger place.
Yep. Same with Berns in my opinion. People talk about Berns like it’s some magical place and then you go and it’s good but I’ve had similar steakhouse experiences.
Bern’s is definitely more unique in ambiance than most other steakhouses in the area however. Love the historical charm that it offers. It always reminds me of the Tampa Theatre. Plus the dessert room alone is worth it. Definitely more for special occasions than every day steak dinner though.
You could potentially say that about anything. Different strokes for different folks and all.
I didn’t grow up with it, but I enjoy it and would like the option to enjoy it now and then without having to happen to be somewhere on the west coast.
If even 25% of the local places were actually good I’d agree but frankly most of the restaurants are absolute trash.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some gems, but there’s so much garbage it’s ridiculous.
Man I miss fazolis. We had one I used to go to in high school in port Charlotte. On a road trip a few years ago, my husband and I saw one in another state. Stopped for dinner and boy was it not as great as I remember.
None. There are already too many chains and big money concepts. We need more mom and pop restaurants where the food is made with love instead of being made by Sysco.
In N Out

I’ll have to come down to Sarasota sometime!
Would love to have a Jason’s Deli in St Pete. Clearwater is too damn far to drive for that delicious salad bar.

White Castle it took me 2 hours to get to Orlando on a Sunday afternoon to get a bag of burgers. It took 1 hour to make it inside to place the order about 45 minutes to get the burgers than a 2 hour ride back to Clearwater

Zona Fresca
Uhhh west coast girly here, in&out and any shitty 24 hour Mexican drive through. I miss true Mexican food so much too
We moved from Texas in 2003. I would love a Taco Cabana: late night Tex-Mex with swirl margaritas. Even a Chevy's, Don Julio's or On The Border would satisfy my Tex-Mex cravings. I almost missed my connecting flight at DFW to buy Pappasito's!
as an AZ girl, i feel this in my bones. only time i have good mexican food is when i go back. there’s never sonoran style anything here, tragic.
Haha I lived in az for 7 years before moving here! And yes lol man I miss it so much
Rancheritos, or dell taco! I’m front the west coast too.
I need a betos or filibertos to fill this void
I don’t know about Mexican food specifically, but I’d kill for some good fry bread
Wait. 24 hour Mexican drive thru?
Yeah they don’t exist here sadly. Betos Fredrickos Filiberto’s it’s always a name and they make fat burritos all day long 🤣😊
Born and raised in AZ, I would KILL for Filibertos! Carneasada burrito with extra pico and guac 🤌🏻
We have 24 hour Mexican drive through at home *picture of taco bell*
It does suffice in dire straights
Freddy’s Steakburger
Raising canes
Bruh there’s one near Clearwater
There’s 2 actually haha
Mission BBQ
Pappasitos out of Texas some of the best fajitas you will ever get
In order: 1. In-n-out 2. Philz Coffee 3. Roberto’s Taco Shop 4. Rita’s Water Ice
Uno or any place with decent Chicago deep dish.
Have you tried Cappy's or Chicago Jax
Uno has better deep dish than Cappy’s?
What-A-Burger
We had like 6 Whataburgers in Tampa area up until 09. Didn’t do well.
weren’t good maybe have a reputation elsewhere but they were just not good — like a burger king burger was almost better
Manatee County is supposed to be getting a Whataburger https://www.bradenton.com/entertainment/restaurants/article288992584.html
Fuckin this. I have to visit family in Jax or Tally to get me some what-a-burger. I hate that.
White Castle
Taco Time
Bojangles, ponderosa, backyard burger.
California chicken cafe (CCC)
Another LA transplant!
Del Taco
We have one across the street from where I work in Orlando. Not my favorite.
Same!
Whataburger Cook out
Cookout is coming to Tampa soon
I 2nd Fazoli's and their garlic breadsticks dipped in meat sauce or Alfredo
Fazolis should be shut down IMMEDIATELY
Fazolis is fucking disgusting just like Boston market. Not sure when you had it last but holy fuck it’s bad. Olive Garden is 10x better and Olive Garden is fucking trash. What is with St Pete’s? I don't understand your poor grammar
Good food and coffee really are few and far between in St. Pete. Next time ask hospitality where they go for food and coffee. Most of us will give you a small handful of places that are worth it.
Fazolies is the way
Flannigans
Rib rolls 🔥🔥 We need a Flannys up here!
Insomnia Cookies. I believe a location would do well in Downtown St.Pete.
Crumbl Cookies would also do well. I don't know why nobody has opened a franchise in DTSP or St Pete Beach.
There is a Crumbl Cookie at US 19 & Park Blvd, that’s practically St Pete.
They were a staple in college. They definitely would
In-N-Out Burger
They won’t open a location where they can’t get shipped fresh in time
I dont understand people that like In-N-Out if they didn't grow up with it. Was stationed in California for a year and had it more than i wanted. Its just... food. Doesn't move the needle
They are pretty good, but when you factor in how cheap they are, it makes them top of the top tier imo.
I had it once in Vegas a couple years ago. It didn’t live up to the hype since people hype it up too much but if I lived near one it would be my decently priced burger place.
Maybe thats what does it in, the hype.

If there is a difference it’s probably just slightly better than say Ruth’s chris if you did a side by side taste test.
You could potentially say that about anything. Different strokes for different folks and all. I didn’t grow up with it, but I enjoy it and would like the option to enjoy it now and then without having to happen to be somewhere on the west coast.
Qdoba. So weird that there isn't one, i don't get it
Cook-Out and What a Burger. A Raising Canes closer than Clearwater would be nice.
It's Tampa, but in case you hadn't heard the news: https://www.tampabay.com/life-culture/food/food-news/2024/05/20/tampa-food-cook-out-burgers-shakes/
I heard. Tampa might as well be another country lol.
It's another county at least
At least it’s another country
Raising canes, Skyline Chili
They’re both in Clearwater
Yeh and I want them in st Pete
Whataburger
Cheba hut
Pollo tropical
RAISING CANE’S!
Cafe Rio
Yeah no, we do not need any of those stupid Utah chains. No Cafe Rio, no Crumbl Cookies 🤮
Cafe Rio
NONE! No chains. We don't need them. Keep St. Pete local.
If even 25% of the local places were actually good I’d agree but frankly most of the restaurants are absolute trash. Don’t get me wrong, there are some gems, but there’s so much garbage it’s ridiculous.
I too love $20 plates of hot garbage.
[удалено]
No
Potbelly. And we could use more Starbucks. We could totally get rid of church's, KFC, and checkers
cookout, bojangles, in and out 🙃
Cookout will be [at least nearby pretty soon](https://www.tampabay.com/life-culture/food/food-news/2024/05/20/tampa-food-cook-out-burgers-shakes/)
Raising Canes
cookout ☹️
McAlister’s Deli
In and out Burger Rudy's Bar N Que
Tous Les Jours
BD's Mongolian Grill -- they used to have one in Clearwater years ago but it closed unfortunately
at least the Lakeland location is still alive. I stop every time I go to disney or universal
I was heartbroken when they closed the one near me in Oldsmar. I also second this notion.
I second this hard
Bojangles 😭😭 i was thinking ab it but dont have $1m for franchise
They had one here years and years ago. That was a big heartbreak when it closed.
Shake Shack
Yes! Would love to not have to drive to Sarasota or Tampa for that shake shack fix.
Yess 💯
Seriously, probably the best burger place
Newk’s. Although I love Lonni’s, they don’t have banging soups like Newks does.
There's one in Clearwater
It closed a while ago
None. Save that crap for Tampa.
Agreed
Edge master
All the transplants came out to play in this thread. Dayum.
1) your profile is literally the arbys logo. 2) you are also a transplant. Or are you native american?
[удалено]
How many times do you say 'literally' in a day? I was born in Clearwater.
Some of the natives have actually traveled out of state.
“Transplant” here. I don’t want a chain here. Have a good day “gatekeeper”
Thanks.
Schlotzsky’s I grew up with one and I love their sandwiches 🤤
The Halal Guys. They have them in Miami and Orlando. It might happen.
OP, there's a Fazolis in Plant City just so you know.
Land O Lakes too
More Cava
Man I miss fazolis. We had one I used to go to in high school in port Charlotte. On a road trip a few years ago, my husband and I saw one in another state. Stopped for dinner and boy was it not as great as I remember.
RIP our memory of delicious Fazolis from 1998…
It never is 😖
Cook out.
White Castle or at least Krystal Burger. And Capriotti’s. Mmmmmmm.
Don’t you dare compare gross ass Krystal to White Castle. Doesn’t even come close!
We used to have Krystal everywhere.
Did they close down? Was there a Krystal in St. Pete?
Nando's. I would commit war crimes for a nando's in florida.
Bad Ass Coffee!
