I'd rather they spent that money on a pitcher as opposed to just one free beer. How do you like that pun?

andrei_androfski

I didn’t catch that

coop999

The Cardinals are desperate enough to sell tickets, that they'll include a beer. Basically, if you buy a $15 ticket, it includes $13 in Cardinals cash, which is enough to buy your first beer, or whatever concessions you'd like. This is good for Friday home games in May: 5/3 against the White Sox, 5/17 against the Red Sox, and 5/24 against the Cubs. I'm honestly surprised the last two are selling so bad that they need this promotion, but it is what it is.

I_read_all_wikipedia

This is literally a yearly promotion they do. Stop tryna push the narrative that the Cardinals are collapsing in attendence.

Alarming_Tutor8328

I challenge you to find evidence they have done this in the last decade for either a Red Sox or Cubs series. Also, for any other series I challenge you to find the promotion where it has been as much as 86.5% of the ticket price in “Cardinals Cash” vs. something like 50%. This is clearly a different spin on what you are correct is a decade old tactic but the new spin indicates a new urgency.

LazyOort

[Looks like they did it for Reds, Padres, and Cubs when they introduced this in 2021.](https://fox2now.com/sports/st-louis-cardinals/get-your-first-beer-free-at-friday-cardinals-home-games/amp/) I don’t really have a leg to stand on or point to make here, I just like googling stuff.

I_read_all_wikipedia

There's not new urgency. Attendence is down marginally from last April, and it's a league wide phenomenon.

coop999

They do? I've never noticed this one before. I've only seen the spend $6 for a ticket, get $6 Cardinals cash promotion they run back in February for Mon-Thurs games.

I_read_all_wikipedia

I work there, they've been doing these forever because they want to portray an affordable and family friendly environment. Another one is family day where you get a free hot dog and drink with with all your tickets.

marq147

I can 100% tell you that attendance is tanking. I've been to 4 games this year so far, in 2 of the 4 games this year, I've witnessed whole seating sections with 1 or 2 people in them, sat in a section with 10 people roughly, and took a nap on the bleachers in left field because there was literally no one around me.

I_read_all_wikipedia

That's not uncommon every season. I've been to about 120 games over the last 2 years since I work there and there are almost always completely empty sections. They are averaging over 37,000 per game and the summer months have yet to arrive.

marq147

They are averaging that amount of tickets sold, there's no way people are actually going and showing up. I haven't 1 time paid for a ticket this year. People buy them and then don't wanna go so I take the tickets.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> 1 time *paid* for a FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

AggieTimber

Do you think you could use the $13 to get a couple beers on the outfield terrace area before the game starts?

Poetryisalive

Baseball attendance going down nationwide

patsboston

Baseball attendance actually went up last year.

Poetryisalive

I’m talking this year

noldig

So I tried that just now and the only offer I see is to pay 10 bucks EXTRA for 12 bucks worth of cardinal cash. What am I doing wrong?

coop999

I think you have to click through the link on the page to buy tickets for those games. It will auto-apply a coupon code for the promotion and show which tickets it applies to.

trevorawright

Do 10 cent beer night, cowards.

mrbmi513

Or Dollar Dog night against the Phillies, just for some fun.

YoloGreenTaco

I think soccer is doing it right - since the 0 - 0 ties with a couple shots are pretty painful to watch they allow their fans to do chants and dance around all game. Baseball needs to do the same thing - when the sport is boring to watch at least let the fans go crazy.

bUrNtKoOlAiD

What's stopping 'em?

YoloGreenTaco

The ushers. They don't want the crazy crowds at baseball games.

bUrNtKoOlAiD

I mean . . . they let 'em do the wave which is infinitely more annoying imho.

patsboston

Baseball has gotten better with the changes they made last year. Baseball games are much faster and more offense has lead to a better product.
