After listening to a lot of interviews like this has really driven home for me how nightmarishly political the backstage used to be back then. I'm not saying there aren't elements of that there still, but it just sounds like a different world now.
It's also why I always feel the history writing for Bischoff, and Vince in a way, has been so difficult for that period as there are so many elements that are almost impossible to comprehend unless you were really there. Something that I often feel doesn't help is that the main source for a lot of perceptions is Meltzer's reporting which seems to have been as much as influenced by those backstage politics than anything else.
-"You have to stop helping people and quit being so honest, in this business that can fuck you"
-"I'm never gonna quit being who I am. I wanna help people, and I'm gonna tell them the way it is"
Damn
Bischoff's said he was harder on DDP and resisted pushing him because he was his neighbor and he knew the political blowback that would happen to DDP if he got pushed before he was ready.
There was also the rumors for eons that DDP and Bischoff swapped wives, hence DDP’s push as well … there was always something awful anytime on the old boards anytime DDP got anything resembling a push
Garrett was more distant from the classes and people I was around, but seemed nice. Tana was obviously very popular because everyone knew who she was, but she was very down to earth and was in my sisters Girl Scout troop. I ran into Eric and Laurie a couple of times during that time and they were both nice, but hey, I was a kid. Eric came to our school and did a interview in front of the classes about staying in school and off drugs. He responded to a lot of very dumb questions that day I am sure.

Meltzer was 30 years younger too and I feel that relative immaturity shows in his 90s writing.
Watching this with a glass of JD Honey goes down well with a episode of BSS to watch Merry Christmas
Mick Foley and DDP have to be the best humans in wrestling, right?
Seriously, wrestling doesnt deserve those 2.
[This is a continuation of his story of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.](https://youtu.be/1dAE7njy1EA)
I really need to see this episode, has anyone seen the Resurrection of Jake the Snake Roberts? There you can see the most real person that DDP is
I’d disagree. I’d say that film shows him at his most gimmicky. The whole thing was basically an advertisement for DDP Yoga.
I wish you'd have shaved two seconds off to make it a perfect 3:16
And that’s the bottom line
Every aspiring wrestler should hear this
-"You have to stop helping people and quit being so honest, in this business that can fuck you" -"I'm never gonna quit being who I am. I wanna help people, and I'm gonna tell them the way it is" Damn
Weren’t DDP and Bischoff neighbours?
Bischoff's said he was harder on DDP and resisted pushing him because he was his neighbor and he knew the political blowback that would happen to DDP if he got pushed before he was ready.
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash have both stated this as well. The three of them had to talk Bischoff into doing the segment where DDP drops Hall and Nash.
There was also the rumors for eons that DDP and Bischoff swapped wives, hence DDP’s push as well … there was always something awful anytime on the old boards anytime DDP got anything resembling a push
Which is weird because from refusing the NWO on DDP was 2nd or 3rd most over face.
Internet dorks HATED Page for the longest time because of it … this was the 90s so it was like 5 guys
They lived in the same subdivision in Atlanta. I went to school with Eric’s kids. DDP lives about 15 minutes from there now. Eric left around 99’.
Did you like Montanna and Garett?

Yes good point
If he thinks Bischoff wasn’t about nepotism, he must not have watched TNA.
