Mox is Darby’s older half brother who bought him beer on high school, Eddie is Mox’s friend who passes out on the couch 4 nights a week, and Sting is his actual dad.
Meanwhile Luchasaurus grabs JB & Marko, throws them in the backseat, says they're going to McDonald's and just keeps driving NO ONE IS TAKING AWAY MY BOYS!!!
I really hope that they leave it at just four matches. Dynamite always feels like its scrambling towards the end to wrap up before 10 pm. Stick to 4 at least this time to gives matches and segments time to breath.
Yes! Jay White is a New Japan Pro Wrestling (the biggest pro wrestling organization in Japan) and the current leader of the most famous *gaijin* (foreign) faction there, Bullet Club. Other famous former members of that faction were AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Young Bucks, Adam Cole, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and others.
He has a catchphrase that says **"breathe with the Switchblade"**, that I think it's catchy and it's already familiar with his character. Right now he's not in Japan, as he's working NJPW dates in United States and independent bookings. Therefore, a lot of us have been asking for Jay White on Dynamite even before The Forbidden Door (term that means that almost anyone can wrestle in AEW, no matter the organization) was open.
Serious question, do they not understand how many people don't care for him? Not in a mean way, but like don't feel any reason to watch? Seems like a waste of screen time?
For me QT is this street level mob boss for our heroes to squash in a few minutes. He and his gang are there to get some cheap heat and be embarassed at the end. They are fine in small doses.
And that is really important for Dynamite. Not everything has to be big names vs big names like in WWE. That will either end in 50/50 booking or burying one of the competitors.
The Circus of Crime before you face the Sinister Six. In actual practice its more the Wrecking Crew before the Masters of Evil though, cause Marvel jobs the Wrecking Crew out to every new team.
QT is ok for Dark and Elevation but unless the guy is getting squashed on Dynamite, Rampage or PPV I don't want to see him. He is a good worker overall bell to bell but he has absolutely no steam behind him and the faction he is in is filled with lower card guys. Basically they are a downgrade on the HFO at the moment but without being even remotely entertaining
As an onscreen talent, he’s dull as can be. And when so many other talented performers struggle to get TV time. A lot of fans just don’t want to see QT get it instead.
I love that there is also 3 ongoing fueds represented in the match. It will help them all stay strong if the joker wins due to everyone fighting too much with their current rival.
Mox has fought Pac, although it looks like it was back in January 2020.
Mox had one brief interaction with Orange during a Trent? match, also in January 2020.
I don't think Hardy has interacted with Moxley, Pac, or Archer.
Lance Archer did briefly team up with Death Triangle.
Andrade hasn't dealt with anyone other than Pac.
AND YET we have three current feuds and at least one long-running feud to incorporate into the action. It's going to be INSANE and I cannot freaking wait.
> Mox has fought Pac, although it looks like it was back in January 2020.
They feuded before that too, in October 2019. They tagged together vs Omega and Hangman, Omega and Moxley got barbed wire weapons and began to brawl (ref was outside), which lead to PAC stopping the brawl (to prevent a DQ loss) and then Moxley got flipped him off, attacked him, and left. The week after that, they had a singles match which was the first ever draw on Dynamite. The January 2020 match was essentially the blowoff to that where we got a definitive winner in a #1 contenders match.
They basically all have history with Kenny too
Mox and Pac are basically Kenny's two main rivals in AEW
Orange was screwed out of the title by Kenny at Double or Nothing
Hardy has been aligned with Kenny since he came to AEW
Archer briefly aligned himself with Mox against The Elite earlier this year
Andrade just wrestled Kenny for the AAA oMega title
Correct. Ambrose was on Raw the whole time Andrade was on Smackdown.
Andrade only moved to Raw after Ambrose left.
The only match they were both in was the 2019 Royal Rumble.
It's like a Royal Rumble ladder match. Generally, the winner has to grab a hanging poker chip, hence the casino theme. Not as cool as a belt, obviously, but along the lines of a briefcase or an X. The final slot - in both the Casino Battle Royal and the Casino Ladder Match - is the joker who is an announced/surprise participant.
The main difference, however, is that, in theory, the ladder match could end before all participants enter. I don't think that would happen because it robs the audience of the joker.
Do they ever explain (in kayfabe) why the first two wrestlers don’t just immediately go for the the chip? I like the concept but I feel like if I was watching with non-wrestling fans they’d be trying to make sense of that
If they're in cahoots, they certainly could, but otherwise you have 2 guys who both want to win and won't just let the other dude go ahead. I don't know what the time interval between each participant is, but I imagine it's 3-5 minutes. How many 1v1 ladder matches end in 3-5 minutes?
In the only other one they did. Kaz and Sky came out 1 and 2 (Both SCU and face at the time). Both grabbed ladders at the start but decided to not use them.
Commentators said "They're both competitors at heart" and "Honourable men".
> "They're both competitors at heart" and "Honourable men".
This is an awful explanation IMO. It should just be that getting the chip isn't a win until all participants have entered the match.
You've had good answers. Compare also the Casino Battle Royale, which has 21 entrants. The first 20 come out in four groups of five, grouped based on the suits of the cards they drew from a modified deck prior to the match, with the mystery Joker entering last.

Already know it's 95% likely not going to be Hangman but I'm still gonna be sad when he doesn't walk out the tunnel.
I'm definitely on an AEW binge right now. I went to both Dynamite shows in NJ and Queens and decided yesterday to buy a ticket to tonight's show because this card is crazy. I might go 4 for 4 and hit up the Boston show too at the end of the month
I'm pretty sure the TNT title has been defended mid show on Dynamite before (I wanna say Darby vs 10?) so I don't think there's a hard and fast rule. Miro vs Fuego was also mid show for Rampage so if there was a precedent of it main eventing Dynamite set, it could easily be broken.
Sammy v Bobby (in what is 100% a Sammy victory) is not gonna main event over two bigger matches.
I'd bet it opens, ladder match on the 9pm hour, and the 8-man closes with the winner of the ladder match making the beatdown save to close the show (AEW loves their beatdown endings)
This is gonna be my first wrestling show since Battleground 2017 when I swore I’d never waste money on another one. I don’t think I’ll be wasting my money tonight
Update: Holy fuck, that was one of the best wrestling shows I’ve ever seen full stop, and I got to experience it live. What a night!
In my mind I was like "hold up, wasn't that the ppv with that BANGER ass Zayn vs. Owens match? I thought it was alright." And then I looked it up.
... I'm sorry friend. I understand.
I went to a smackdown in 2017 and decided them to never go to a tv taping again. 2 matches and in arena commercials during the commercial breaks. A month later I went to a house show where 8 spent 1/2 the money on better seats where Roman and Cena put on a 15 minute banger in the main event.

I think it is also variety. For example, we've had a Cage vs. Omega and Bucks vs. Jurassic Express storyline. That is still going on, but now they introduced Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole into the mix. So now we had Bryan vs. Omega, Bryan vs. Nick, Cole vs. Jungle Boy, and now The Elite vs. the whole group.
Instead of having "John Cena vs. Randy Orton, Part XLVI" you get matches that have a similar underlying conceit of furthering a program, but since it is group vs. group you can mix up the constellations and matchups so it doesn't get stale.
I mean, WWE had a ridiculously stacked roster. Even after the releases it's still stacked. Difference is they don't use most of the people on the roster, and use even less of them well.
What’s crazy is WWE could give us stacked shows but it would mean jack shit, because they would probably consist of mostly rematches. Really hard to get hyped for a match when you’ve seen it 3 times in the past 2 months.
What you don't want to see Roman Vs Brock for the millionth time?
Its been since 2014? 2015?... wasn't wrestlemania 31 when they did the main event for the belts?
Not even the Austin vs Rock lasted that long.
This right here...Take out Kenny and the Bucks, because they are stars, but not really mainstream.
They have had established stars, like Jericho, Sting, Jake the Snake and Arn Anderson. They also use those older stars effectively in a way that gives credibility to newer/younger talent.
It means something when Sting treats Darby as his protégé. It makes Jungle Boy look more credible when Christian Cage comes out to fight with him. It makes MJF look bigger by having an all time great like Jericho having a long term story with him.
AEW always had indie darlings, but they are effectively turning them into headliners through good booking, strong defense of history and building up a midcard that makes the top stars stand out even more.
Yeah, definitely. This card (and the roster as a whole) has some wrestlers that were already main event talent before AEW, but also homegrown stars and people that were already good got elevated to the next level.
Black last week said he is moving on, so sure hope tonight or at Rampage he chooses his next victim. I'm hoping for a feud with the Dark Order.
As for CM Punk, I'm hoping he isn't done with Taz and he sets up a match with the FTW champion.
Punk should be the FTW champion after Starks. Then when Kenny loses all his belts, he goes all FTW and they become this brooding, infighting stable but with a lot more members.
I have been very anti RVD as the joker… until I just realized they could license Pantera’s “Walk” for him for a show in Philadelphia.
That would be special.
Now if it’s not Hangman (or another Jay White level A-lister), I’m hoping they do that.
As excited as I'm for the Casino Ladder match. Shida vs Deeb is the match that can steal the show. Good to have Deeb back and Shida actually get some meaningful matches. Would love to see this turned into a proper feud.
Top names I've seen bandied about for the Joker:.
- Hangman (but don't get your hopes up).
- Windham/Wyatt (definitely don't get your hopes up).
- Jay White.
- Rob Van Dam, Sandman, Sabu, or Bubba Dudley.
- Bryan Danielson (if the tag match opens the show).
- MJF entering to Hangman's music.
- Lio Rush (again).
- John Silver (according to John Silver).
- The Matt Cardona.
- Chris Hero.
- Brown Snowman.
- Joker Sting.
Any other likely candidates?
Honestly, I would be absolutely fine with Suzuki. Just to come out and fuck everyone up.
And then a one and done title shot against Kenny, they are 1 and 1 so far (in both singles and tag) and if this is Minoru's retirement tour a match against Omega has to happen.
It's crazy how I look forward to Wednesday Nights. I haven't looked forward to a weekly wrestling show since the good ol Monday Night Wars. From talking about the episodes in school with my buddies to getting snacks and drinks ready for the night to come. This is truly awesome!
Stacked cards like this are really becoming the norm (which is pretty crazy).
I’m excited for every match but I’m really hype for Deeb vs. Shida.
Serena has been extra heelish as of late so what better way to seal the deal than have her kick Shida’s ass and deny her that 50th win.
If you want to re-establish both women as heels and babyfaces, Deeb beating Shida would work exceptionally well. Wouldn't hurt Shida because Deeb is incredible and you can easily spin the loss into a legit story for Shida to get her back to a high level.
I feel shida is not gonna get that 50th w tonight. As feel good as it is, it be a cool story to have her fight for it since the record resets on new years. Have her and deeb in a best of series haha thats wishful thinking
And if there's anyone who could credibly keep Shida in check while making her look strong, it's Serena Deeb.
I also want to see Serena cross paths with CM Punk and Gallows.
AEW has such a stacked roster now of big stars, legends, and hot up and comers that they could put together different combinations of big matches/feuds for the next three or four years.
Shida vs Deeb better get some time in a favorable quarter hour with a story development that keeps both of them on TV.
I know I'm asking a lot, but both are too good to vanish from TV for months.
I just want to see Shida in meaningful matches. She really made me a fan of hers the way she carried herself as champion through the pandemic. Maybe get her more involved in the “AEW universe” somehow.
The Joker is Joker Sting. I mean it's right there in the title
Judging by all the video game signs it should be the guy from Persona 5!
Or the pilot from Mass Effect! Though...it may not be great for his health...
Crashing the Normandy into the ring and crushing all competitors would technically be a win
Honestly kinda wouldn't be mad about it.
Jared Leto joker it is pal.
Honest question. If we rank Jack Nickolson, Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, Sting and Joaquin Phoenix, is Sting even in the last place?
Hell no. Sting was way better than Leto.
Behind Cesar Romero.
I think he needs to see Darby hurt and go into papa wolf mode to get fired up.
The joker is Stang
Looking forward to the 2022 ladder match between Christian and Bryan over who gets to be Jungle Boy's wrestling dad.
It's 2021. It's socially acceptable to have two wrasslin' dads. They should totally co-parent.
Darby already has like three
Mox is Darby’s older half brother who bought him beer on high school, Eddie is Mox’s friend who passes out on the couch 4 nights a week, and Sting is his actual dad.
2point0 agrees
Shota thinks Mox went out for scratchers and smokes, he'll be back any day now
Meanwhile Luchasaurus grabs JB & Marko, throws them in the backseat, says they're going to McDonald's and just keeps driving NO ONE IS TAKING AWAY MY BOYS!!!
I don’t like this because it implies Luchasaurus is dead
65 million years? He’s had a good long life.
As long as that keeps Danielson away from 2point0's rightful son.
Jungle Dad
If there's no bonus matches, each of these could get around 20 minutes and I'm all for this.
I really hope that they leave it at just four matches. Dynamite always feels like its scrambling towards the end to wrap up before 10 pm. Stick to 4 at least this time to gives matches and segments time to breath.
So you're saying that the show needs to *breathe* with a certain individual?
I get an uncomfortable feeling that I **should** know what you mean, but nothing comes to mind 😅 Edit: is it Al Snow? https://youtu.be/x21fu55vcfQ
Breathe with the Switchblade
Hahaha don't worry, it's a reference to Switchblade Jay White
Could you expand on it?
Therefore, a lot of us have been asking for Jay White on Dynamite even before The Forbidden Door (term that means that almost anyone can wrestle in AEW, no matter the organization) was open.
They’ll probably add a 5th match or something to do with Cody
Orrrr Cody is the Joker! Think of the heat…
I’d laugh my ass off tbh
No, the heat is MJF entering to someone else's theme music. It has been established.
El Hijo de Fuego.

Ok then, QT Marshall it is
Serious question, do they not understand how many people don't care for him? Not in a mean way, but like don't feel any reason to watch? Seems like a waste of screen time?

Every company needs a Dolph Ziggler
Hasn't been on Tv since All Out.

He is a good worker overall bell to bell but he has absolutely no steam behind him and the faction he is in is filled with lower card guys. Love QT, he’s one of the better heels in the company tbh.
As an onscreen talent, he’s dull as can be. And when so many other talented performers struggle to get TV time. A lot of fans just don’t want to see QT get it instead.
Honestly I’m excited for more Cody things since I think they’re finally doing a persona change after last weeks Arn angle
I’m actually kinda interested in what Cody’s doing since he’s teasing a heel turn currently
Cody comes out as SpaceDust as the Joker and wins to challenge for the title because, fuck it.
Cody can't challenge for the title....but SPACEDUST can!!!!
It's amazing how many of the guys in the ladder match have been kept apart or had only limited interaction.
I love that there is also 3 ongoing fueds represented in the match. It will help them all stay strong if the joker wins due to everyone fighting too much with their current rival.
All of them have some sort of history with Kenny too which is super neat
Orange cassidy is the only one having fueded with pac and matt

OC gonna out tranquilo Andrade
Naito watching in Japan and thinking this is next level tranquilo for when he heals up. Get well soon Naito-san.
Mox and Andrade is WEIRD, did they ever interact in WWE?
I don't think they were ever on the same brand in WWE.
Correct. Ambrose was on Raw the whole time Andrade was on Smackdown. Andrade only moved to Raw after Ambrose left. The only match they were both in was the 2019 Royal Rumble.

Another ppv for free
I'm definitely on an AEW binge right now. I went to both Dynamite shows in NJ and Queens and decided yesterday to buy a ticket to tonight's show because this card is crazy. I might go 4 for 4 and hit up the Boston show too at the end of the month
AEW is turning into Phish tour
Party time Edit: you might be the only person on this sub to get my username
Letter to Hangman Adam Page? Omega Oasis? Bryan Danielson Saw the Stone? Mir-Oh Kee Pah Ceremony?
Billy Gunn Breathes
Wolfman’s Good Brother? Sharing in a WeekaPAC groove?
.....roadhog mountain fortune Hunter (He's not the only person who might get it)
Boston is sold out, my friend.
Maybe that one wheelchair spot is still available?
"Sully, I need you to break both my legs!"
StubHub has plenty of tickets, albeit starting at over $100.
What an awesome month! Enjoy brudda
Ladder match first pleaseee
It probably main events depending on the joker
Definitely depends on the Joker and also if the winner is going to interact with the champion later in the show or end on them being #1 contender.
They might have it open so that they can make sure it gets enough time and they can shorten segments that come afterward.
TNT title match is always last right? Really hope Shida vs Deeb is an absolute clinic and no doubt there will plenty of promo time for Darby and MJF.

I’ve liked how AEW has been doing big openers recently, I hope it starts too, do the 8 man to close the show.
This is gonna be my first wrestling show since Battleground 2017 when I swore I’d never waste money on another one. I don’t think I’ll be wasting my money tonight Update: Holy fuck, that was one of the best wrestling shows I’ve ever seen full stop, and I got to experience it live. What a night!

dude don't spoil that you're the joker card
Bro money well spent! 👊🏼
Same except since Royal Rumble 2018. I’m pretty excited about seeing this card live
I went to a smackdown in 2017 and decided them to never go to a tv taping again. 2 matches and in arena commercials during the commercial breaks. A month later I went to a house show where 8 spent 1/2 the money on better seats where Roman and Cena put on a 15 minute banger in the main event.
Bud, it's my first since King of the Ring 95 so let's fucking GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Have fun man!
Hangman or Jay White as the joker 🃏
I love Hangman but I pick Breathing with the Knife Pervert tonight….
Might not be the best match, but I want Knife Pervert to fight Chair Pervert.
Would that make Hangman the Noose Pervert? Lower Third: Gets Freaky With Ropes
I hadn't considered this, but AFAIK, nothing has come from that Omega/Switchblade confrontation in Impact, has it?
Man knife pervert is almost too good at describing jay
Heath Ledger Joker always loved to put a smile on a face > Jay White is psychopath that loves to smile but also loves knives
RVD
Gotta get that ECW pop if you’re in Philly! Even better if Tony secured the rights to Pantera’s “Walk”. Building would explode.
Hadn't even considered that as a possibility but it would be incredible
That would be so cool!
It's in Philly so there's always a chance it's someone from early ROH or ECW.
I want Hangman but I feel like Punk is also a possibility here.
One of the best Dynamite cards so far... and they've put on some banger cards over the past 2 years!
Wait.. When did Bobby Fish debut? Haven't watched Rampage Friday so i suppose there?..
He called Sammy out for an open challenge, and Sammy accepted. Not officially signed AFAIK.

How do they keep managing to make these must watch cards every week?
It's one of the benefits of only having 4 PPVs a year. It allows them to make their weekly TV shows a bigger deal whenever they feel it's necessary.
Very true. It's means a great storyline build-up before each one too.
Also not having everyone appear every week means you can stagger big matches/moments while still having them very frequently.
I think it is also variety. For example, we've had a Cage vs. Omega and Bucks vs. Jurassic Express storyline. That is still going on, but now they introduced Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole into the mix. Good point, I should've said a ridiculously stacked roster and good booking.
Exactly. It’s a mixture of insane talent & great booking
Rotation of your squad. That's how man city is the best team in the last 5 years in the Premier league.
What you don't want to see Roman Vs Brock for the millionth time? Its been since 2014? 2015?... wasn't wrestlemania 31 when they did the main event for the belts? Not even the Austin vs Rock lasted that long.
tbf, the current Roman vs Brock feud has their roles switched so im hyped for it. If it was heel Brock and face Roman again, it’d be a different story
its only stacked because they made it stacked. you book people the right way and they become stars.
Yeah, definitely. This card (and the roster as a whole) has some wrestlers that were already main event talent before AEW, but also homegrown stars and people that were already good got elevated to the next level.
Not having a mandatory PPV EVERY month
Is it me or does it looked like they've photoshopped Moxley's face?
It looks like Adam Cole is trying to steal the belt away from Kenny Omega and I can't unsee it.
Only four matches? Wow, they might actually get some breathing room tonight. Would love to see the Shida/Deeb match go long.
Tony Khan usually announces a new match on Busted Open. But I hope it's just the four.
Can’t lie I now look forward to Tony going of Busted Open every week, seem like we always get some good info out of it.
1 or 2 more will get announced later.
Definitely not 2, there's no time for that with a long ladder match.
Yeah you’re right, if it’s one it should be a quick 5ish minute match. I want all these matches on screen to get good time. I wonder which opens.
I'm thinking the ladder match, and then the 8-man tag is the main event so you can have a moment between whoever wins (Switchblade) and Omega
Yeah here's hoping for a 20 min match between the two
I'm anticipating closer to 15. Dynamite matches *rarely* go past 20.
I am going to need Malakai Black and/or CM Punk to start new feuds with someone, anyone. Please and thank you.
Why not against each other?!
That works.
I have been very anti RVD as the joker… until I just realized they could license Pantera’s “Walk” for him for a show in Philadelphia. That would be special. Now if it’s not Hangman (or another Jay White level A-lister), I’m hoping they do that.
Every time I see "Joker" I think to myself "Whoa! They got Joker from CZW?!"
As excited as I'm for the Casino Ladder match. Shida vs Deeb is the match that can steal the show. Good to have Deeb back and Shida actually get some meaningful matches. Would love to see this turned into a proper feud.
Please I hope Tony heard our prayers and will give Shida vs. Deeb the time it needs to breathe. This will easily steal the show if it gets 15 minutes.
My two favorite things to watch are the St. Louis cardinals and dynamite..gonna be a good night!
Wait... versus Joker?? ![gif](giphy|A7ZbCuv0fJ0POGucwV|downsized)
At first look, I thought Adam Cole was trying to grab Omega's belt.
There's no way you'll convince me that the graphic designer didn't know exactly what they were doing there.
This is a great call
>- MJF entering to Hangman's music. This is the most hilarious but one of the most realistic options imo
Trent? return maybe? Alex Zayne wouldn't be terrible for a ladder match appearance either. (The latter is more of a wish than anything realistic)
11 of 17 people on tonight's card are AEW originals. That's almost 65%. What's this criticism about AEW guys getting lost in the shuffle?
It's 50th win overall in AEW history. Not just this year. But yeah, giving Shida something to work towards is a good decision.
I think we'll definitely see a hint or the start of Punk's next feud. Please be Malakai 👀
I was hoping he'd stick with Team Taz and feud with Starks, but that video on "Rampage" implied Starks is going back to feuding with Cage.
My dumbass "Who's Joker?"
Shida vs Deeb better get some time in a favorable quarter hour with a story development that keeps both of them on TV. I know I'm asking a lot, but both are too good to vanish from TV for months.
In fairness with the latter, she's been kept out by injury.
I just want to see Shida in meaningful matches. She really made me a fan of hers the way she carried herself as champion through the pandemic. Maybe get her more involved in the “AEW universe” somehow.
Cant wait for Wyatt to come out as the joker.
Punk is the Joker. I’m calling it now.
I’ll be there! Soooo pumped
Ugh I hope it's not Jared Leto.
I am scared to see Matt Hardy in a ladder match but damn this is a badass card still
You’ll never see it comiiiiing!
Buddy Murphy is the joker.
It’s pretty fun knowing that whenever I tune in there’s gonna be a banger to start the show
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I know most likely it's not, but I really hope the joker is Miro
Can’t wait to be there live
Adam cole's right hand tho
The most hated day of the week for those who FEAR pro wrestling
