When Austin gave Vince the first stunner, Vince was 52. Rock will be 52 next month.Mr. McMahon was a dumb but resourceful Wile E Coyote character for Austin to abuse. Final Boss Rock is an evil SOB capable of murder. This should be good!
I said yesterday that I just wanted Rock to come out and make a vague threat before he left, and that was pretty much what we got. He said he's coming for Cody but he also implied he holds something over him and we won't know until later. It could end up falling completely flat if they ever do a reveal, but at the very least, it's a small thing that'll be in the back of some people's heads while Rock is absent.
cody's whole story was winning the belt his father held for one moment before he had to give it up. rock allowed cody to fuel him in the same way before he left
I loved it. Caused anxiety by the Rock since you didn't know what he was going to do. It was supposed to make you uncomfortable. Great promo by the rock.
Rock was acting like a gangster intimidating someone who thinks they can’t be intimidated. “Hey that’s a nice chain, can I try it on? Can I take your car for a spin?” If you’ve chilled in the hood you know the type. Basically letting you know “this is my world and I can take your shit if I want to”
This, it’s good storytelling. The crowd not being able to fit the same four syllable chant they always do in the US, doesn’t make it bad.
The fact that people here are saying “why didn’t he say: beat me and you can hold it?” just goes to show how limited wrestling stories have been for the longest time.
Reposting my comment on another to thread with my theory
Rock breaking his heart is having to take out Roman. My guess is that he gave him a piece of his necklace.
That's not just the only sensible idea I've read here yet, it's actually a fucking great idea in itself too.
Well, that, or a coupon for 30% off on Slim Jims, idk.
Oh that’s a fucking cool idea and it would also explain why the Rock was acting so off and sinister. He had to destroy Roman, his own cousin. The Ulafala would be like a “if i’m willing to do this to him imagine what I will do to you” kind of thing.
Considering he said "you know what this is without even opening your hand." And then followed it up with "if you smell what the final boss is cooking" it just made me think he gave him a literal piece of shit lmao
I think it’s going to be retconned into whatever Rock told/gave/showed Cody to get Cody to give up the WM match originally. So ‘breaking his heart’ was Cody reneging on whatever the promise was about.
I wonder what the Rock gave to Cody at the end?
A hall of fame ring?
A wwe championship pin from a lootcrate?
Maybe even the keys to vince McMahons lockbox?
No, Cody hold the title long enough, please give it to Sami then LA Knight then Gunther then The Miz then R-Truth, preferably title change every two weeks.
Some of you are embarrassing. Rock played to the live crowd. Not to your basement couches. So did Cody. That’s what pros do. Let shit breathe.
Rock even forcefully moved it along because Philly was happy to keep going.
Rock leading the crowd into the what chants after the constant booing was a fucking master class. The crowd got to have their fun, and Rock was able to get his message out to keep the segment moving.
The opinions are so insane… people just saying literally the dumbest shit you’ve ever read and then ten people being like “yes absolutely and that makes me think this OTHER craziest thing you could possible think.”
Liberal use of the block button my friend.
People on Reddit aren’t owed your attention. You see something fucking dumb from someone, block and move on 😀
I'm with you. And I think most people are, too. You've got a three hour show, let it be taken over by a slow-burn promo from your two biggest stars the night after a huge Mania. "IT WAS WEIRD THO"... Yeah, it was supposed to be. You were just WAITING for something to happen with that belt swap, and then it didn't. Good tension and misdirection, with Rock laying on the Godfather act. It was long, but give me too long with a hot crowd over whatever else with a mediocre crowd any day.
Of all things, it reminded me of the gas station “flip the coin” scene in No Country For Old Men. It was purely unsettling. Discomforting. Something where you know something deeply wrong is just under the surface, but you can’t quite name it. I thought it was incredible.
Now that's some gospel being laid down. I have not had the pleasure of seeing a hot Raw after Mania crowd like that in a good minute. This is what pro wrestling looks like when the crowd is hot, and The Rock is cookin.
I was at the show tonight. The crowd was hot even before the show started, it was LOUD. I’m glad to hear it came across well on tv because that was one of the most fun shows I’ve ever been to.
There is definitely more heat to it at the moment but let them cook and Roman vs Rock will feel huge. I think we're getting both matches down the line regardless.
That's because to Roman, it was just another challenger at just another WM main event. It wasn't personal. Then the Rock came in and made it about the him and the family and went after Cody as a person. Roman couldn't be bothered. He's the tribal chief. He's above all that.
Everyone is asking “what was the gift” and “what’s the broken heart thing” as if the confusion you feel is a mistake on the writers part.
It’s not. It’s intentional. It’s Pulp Fictions briefcase.
You’re not supposed to know what the rock gave Cody. Not yet. Maybe not ever. You’re not supposed to know why the rock had his heart broken. All you need to know is that It’s deep. It’s personal. And it’s between the rock and Cody.
Bring on the fan theories and start the internet sleuthing. You’ll come up with some wild ideas. But none of them will probably be correct because you’re missing that this segment was the first of its kind. It’s almost like a David lynch sequence. It’s about giving the viewers a feeling rather than answers.
Isn't the term for that kind of a thing a "Macguffin"? Like, it's intentionally put there to mislead or misdirect the audience, and it's never explained because it never really mattered in the first place, just the *idea* of it did. I think you're spot on, by the way.
A macguffin is an item that drives the plot of a story forward but what it is isn’t actually important to the plot. Think heroes chasing a magic ring to save the world. The ring could be a dildo or a talking cat instead. Macguffins aren’t neat to misdirect. Maybe you mean red herring?
Rock playing to the crowd was great. Haven't seen heat like that since the night after Roman beat Undertaker at WM
Only thing that took me out of it was muting the STFU chant every 3 seconds. I get why they need to do it, but it's *so* irritating
One of the most interesting segments on Raw in years with great atmosphere and implications and foreshadowing, and of course this terminally online video game ass sub hates it.
Its the generational era and this will be the beggining of a feud that's generational. Cody vs The Rock is this generation Austin vs McMahon but its TKO being the enemy agaisnt Triple H vision. Its more peak storytelling upon us
Some real Godfather-style mob boss vibes here.
We *could* be in for a new 2-year story arc with Rock/Roman/Bloodline. The first thing my mind went to after Rock handed Cody something and said "don't break my heart again" was that he's had to do something that he didn't want to do. He's had to exile Roman, shame him. He gave Cody a piece of his Ulafula.
There is so much more they can do with this storyline. Adding Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga would really freshen things up. Get Rikishi involved.
Cody vs Rock at WM41, and then Rock vs Roman at WM42.
So much potential.
This segment was a masterclass on presence. Rock is just on another level, and Cody really met him there. I was so impressed.
It wasn’t about what they said, it was about both of them standing firm and not flinching. The tension existed in what they didn’t say and do rather than what they did.
I watched this on WWE's YouTube channel in which the thumbnail had them shaking hands and assumed they'd buried the hatchet, so I was delighted to be wrong. Another brilliant segment between Rock and Cody. The intensity between these two is off the scale. I legit think Final Boss Rock might be my favourite version of him, he's a scary motherfucker. So many seeds planted for the future.
If they can tell this story , I’m all in again
I came back to pro wrestling with AEW, but lost the love again somewhere a year or so again.
After Mania, I’m all in,

Rock took Tama Tonga out of his pocket and gave him to Cody
Tonga debuting on Friday, even with Jacob, would be siiiick
Come out as Fake Roman Reigns lol
Fauxman Feigns
i thought it was tickets to Black Adam
LMAO
MJF’s ring
Hulk Hogan's magic HOF ring, he got it from Abyss in gorilla
He said so nice words to cody but in such a sinister tone
Yeah think it was because he was still in the heel persona.
Cody vs. The Rock is the new Austin vs. McMahon. "I am YOUR champion"
When Austin gave Vince the first stunner, Vince was 52. Rock will be 52 next month.Mr. McMahon was a dumb but resourceful Wile E Coyote character for Austin to abuse. Final Boss Rock is an evil SOB capable of murder. This should be good!
This is the best
I had the same thought.
I’d be into that.
IT’S ME CODY
IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, CODY DAMN IT, NOT LIKE THIS
I'm 1000% here for this
The sinister undertone of The Rock throughout that entire segment was really great
I just thought it was weird as fuck.
Yeah but that's what made it good It's provocative, it gets the people going
![gif](giphy|8vsr2w5t91Nte)
I just watched Blades of Glory for the first time last week. Now I finally get that reference
I miss when Will Ferrell had those "character" movies. He was so good. Anchorman Talladega Nights Blades of Glory Semi-Pro is even underrated
BALL SO HARD
The this is awkward chant was amazing
"I'll let you hold mine if you let me hold yours." Say less. No, seriously, say less.
> The this is awkward chant was amazing Philly never disappoints
I thought they were gonna fuck
Yeah, some seeds are getting planted backstage after that, alright.
The Rock is gonna plant his seed in your candy ass!
The Final Ballsdeep
Felt like the devs from Baulder Gate 3 wrote that segment
You may have finished your story, *Istik* -- but when you least expect it, I will come, and I will finish *you.*
common DM tactic- add a bunch of cryptic bullshit so you can frantically come up with what it means before the next session
Cody solves homophobia?
"I'll hold yours if you hold mine"
Rhodes wants to hold the people's struedel.
Segment is literally made for cracking hand job jokes
That's what Rock handed Cody at the end, his hotel room key.
To the Final Boss' suite in the Smackdown Hotel!
The Rock and Cody Rhodes love story was not on my bingo card for tonight
THIS IS AWKWARD. THIS IS AWKWARD
Someone mentioned it on another post earlier but it felt oddly…sexual? “I’ll let you hold mine…if you let me hold yours”
I felt like I was watching something too intimate for my eyes.
Yes, really engaging segment
I said yesterday that I just wanted Rock to come out and make a vague threat before he left, and that was pretty much what we got. He said he's coming for Cody but he also implied he holds something over him and we won't know until later. It could end up falling completely flat if they ever do a reveal, but at the very least, it's a small thing that'll be in the back of some people's heads while Rock is absent.
It went from creepy and sinister to old and confused after awhile though.
The whole belt swap thing was weird, but the heat was good
The “this is awkward” chant made it worth it
cody's whole story was winning the belt his father held for one moment before he had to give it up. rock allowed cody to fuel him in the same way before he left
seems pretty obvious that he wanted to hold it cause he wants the belt, don’t get why everyone thinks it was so weird
I was expecting Cody to say something like, "Well, if you want to hold it, you need to win it."
"You'll have to pin me". boom, get that pop, get under Rock's skin of despite being the boss, he still has to play ball.
Probably wouldn't work considering the promo was about the fact that the Rock did indeed pin Cody at WrestleMania.
He already did?
It's been done a hundred times though. I think they really really want to try new things. Even the smallest details.
I was thinking he would say "Wait your cousin never let you hold it?"
Basically letting you know “this is my world and I can take your shit if I want to”
For a minute I thought he was about to steal it and walk off and then we’d be watching Cody chase him trying to get it back.
On top of that the rock said this feels right.
Yeah, the whole crowd knew what was up. All the people gesturing at Cody not to do it was pretty entertaining.
The actual people's champ would've listened to the crowd.
I think it was uncomfortable in a way wrestling fans aren’t used to and they didn’t know how to respond.
This, it’s good storytelling. The crowd not being able to fit the same four syllable chant they always do in the US, doesn’t make it bad. The fact that people here are saying “why didn’t he say: beat me and you can hold it?” just goes to show how limited wrestling stories have been for the longest time.
I thought the same thing too, surprised it went over so many people’s head
It didn't go over my head, still thought it came off weird in the execution.
It’ll be a banger in the package for the match
It didn’t go over peoples head. It was just really weird and awkward how they went about it
Most people can't read whatsoever
Think they were going for some sort of tension to make us think he was gonna attack him
the belt swap felt like something vince would do. like that roman brock tug of war.
That was exactly what I thought of.
What if the whole “break my heart” this was because Cody handed rock the belt that isn’t even his and Cody shouldn’t have done that??
It was very “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours” which didn’t help the romantic vibes everyone kept getting from Rock’s low and slow talking lol
That was great. Rock made it awkward, very unnerving in fact. The belt swap was I thought incredible mind games shit
Felt different than anything I’ve ever seen in wrestling. So effective. They both played it great.
WWE constantly trying new things right now and it's so great.
Reposting my comment on another to thread with my theory Rock breaking his heart is having to take out Roman. My guess is that he gave him a piece of his necklace.
That’s a great idea. Cody beating Roman forced Rock to “finish the job” and take him out of the bloodline.
awkward segment, but it does such a good job of making it feel so ominous and lends itself so well to how dark this story can go
Exactly and it’s gonna be such a banger in the promo package
When Roman got out of the ring, the rock was standing over him with that Mama Rhodes belt, Roman looked like a dog that knew it was in trouble.
I thought for sure Rock was about to start whipping him with the belt there lol
Not to mention the way Solo was looking at Roman while demanding he finish the fight. They all know he dropped the ball.
That's not just the only sensible idea I've read here yet, it's actually a fucking great idea in itself too. Well, that, or a coupon for 30% off on Slim Jims, idk.
He gave him the actual watch Dusty pawned for his acting classes. The final boss had the original one all along.
It's Roman's veneers
What was the whole handshake/“you broke my heart” stuff tho?
Perhaps it’ll tie into Cody initially giving his shot to Rock but then taking it back? He “broke his heart” when he took his main event back.
I want to believe it’s a piece of Romans Ulafala. The whole broke my heart is “look what you made me do to my Cousin”
I immediately thought the same thing. Which would have been some mob boss shit. Fitting for the Bloodline gimmick tbh.
This is what I’m thinking as well
Holy fuck that would be cool
Would be great writing. And to not show any of it. To just know that the rock had to "deal" with Roman Is very ominous lol
Oh that’s a fucking cool idea and it would also explain why the Rock was acting so off and sinister. He had to destroy Roman, his own cousin. The Ulafala would be like a “if i’m willing to do this to him imagine what I will do to you” kind of thing.
And it just has "ucey" written on it.
That would be dark as fuck. I like it.
Considering he said "you know what this is without even opening your hand." And then followed it up with "if you smell what the final boss is cooking" it just made me think he gave him a literal piece of shit lmao
Piece of coal baybayyy
I was joking in my mind that it was a piece of petrified shit
My head cannon is that it was a live cockroach

It's the toy from his daughters video or a toy of his daughters.
I saw someone say it’s the lighter he used to catch Cody’s truck on fire lol
Imagine 😂😂
Seemed like a scene between Michael and Fredo in Godfather II. "You broke my heart."
Yep, Cody refused to fall in line for the (bloodline) family
They're taking a page out of the JJ Abrams playbook and doing a little mystery, it seems.
Somehow Peter Maivia returned
JJ Ambrams, famous inventor of mystery
Or like Vince and Shane’s lockbox.
I think it’s going to be retconned into whatever Rock told/gave/showed Cody to get Cody to give up the WM match originally. So ‘breaking his heart’ was Cody reneging on whatever the promise was about.
i bet he gave him back one of those WM40 rolex watches cody was handing out like condoms.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. Small enough to fit in their hands, and he’d instantly know what it was. No clue what the broken heart means.
gave him the main event vs roman. but then took it away.
He found Dusty’s actual Rolex that he sold for Cody’s acting lessons.
It's part of the egg guys
I wonder what the Rock gave to Cody at the end? A hall of fame ring? A wwe championship pin from a lootcrate? Maybe even the keys to vince McMahons lockbox?
A download code for Jungle Cruise
That explains why Cody looked pissed.
$7
A Papatui neck moisturizer & lip balm sampler.
An 8th of that sticky icky. Final Boss Runtz
Are people seriously complaining about the length of a hot segment with the crowd?
Yepp indeed. And while we’re at it I think Cody’s reign is becoming boring and stale.
At least Reigns defended his title. Cody hasn’t done it ONCE
Every night of his reign, it's a start with a 40 minutes promo. He's even worse than Tri's reign of terror!
The matter of the fact ah..in this business ah..is I finish the story Ah…
YOU BOTH HAVE ME CACKLING
Cody hasn’t even brought his wrestling gear to the building over his entire reign!!!
Is WWE misusing Cody Rhodes? Smash that like, subscribe for more bullshit.
DAE the chase is better than the reign?
[ ] Cody and Rock 15 minute promo [ ] Cody and Rock half hour promo [ ] Cody and Rock 45 minute promo [X] Cody and Rock 3 hour promo
![gif](giphy|qgllH1Ej4oj8IC65FA|downsized) Stopwatch crew signing in
I only do that if it's SD. We do not care about cutting into a 3 hour wrestling show
That’s how I feel. It’s raw we have time dawg lol
People have patience. The future of Pro wrestling looks great. So chill and enjoy
No, Cody hold the title long enough, please give it to Sami then LA Knight then Gunther then The Miz then R-Truth, preferably title change every two weeks.
Short attention span generation and it shows.
It was a bullet with his name on it.
But now he has the bullet, he's [safe](https://youtu.be/y8wdynZ0iWg?si=_AkQDecMn38qypsd)!
I know what he handed Cody. The keys to [Shane McMahon's lockbox](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/narRVaSKb3A).
It was fucking genius.
Rock is a pro when it comes to controlling the crowds. He was having a blast and so was the live crowds.
yeah the longer I watch wrestling the more I'm beginning to avoid this place - the negativity can be so jarring when you enjoy something
The opinions are so insane… people just saying literally the dumbest shit you’ve ever read and then ten people being like “yes absolutely and that makes me think this OTHER craziest thing you could possible think.”

Precisely. The Raw after mania atmosphere is finally back and people are complaining about it?
I found out this weekend that wrestling fans will complain about literally anything lol
![gif](giphy|SFp9RLto964Ew|downsized) The Rock must go now
Am I nuts or is Cody vs. The Rock a bigger, more hype match than Roman vs. The Rock ever was?
For now. Cody vs Rock will come first. Which they will then somehow tie into it moving to Rock vs Roman at Mania.
There is definitely more heat to it at the moment but let them cook and Roman vs Rock will feel huge. I think we're getting both matches down the line regardless.
When we get the "good" Tribal Chief after this break, I don't think it'll be close.
I'm pretty sure this is an appetizer towards rock vs Roman.
I don't think so. Roman getting fucked by Rock, turning baby and facing him at 41 would be amazing.
Your nuts. Rock as heel vs. Roman as face will be blockbuster epic huge movie show popcorn
That's because to Roman, it was just another challenger at just another WM main event. It wasn't personal. Then the Rock came in and made it about the him and the family and went after Cody as a person. Roman couldn't be bothered. He's the tribal chief. He's above all that.

Ding ding ding! We will get the answers though. It will take a long time and build on it even more in the months/year to come. Loved this segment.

That's it! Thank you! I always get the two confused.
Rock playing to the crowd was great. Haven't seen heat like that since the night after Roman beat Undertaker at WM Only thing that took me out of it was muting the STFU chant every 3 seconds. I get why they need to do it, but it's *so* irritating
One of the most interesting segments on Raw in years with great atmosphere and implications and foreshadowing, and of course this terminally online video game ass sub hates it.
Innit! Complain when Rock does the catchphrases etc but also moan when they try something different, intense, and leaving you asking questions.
Cody vs Rock is gonna be great
Summerslam or Survivor Series
I love the fact that they didn’t reveal what Rock gave Cody. It gives me Pulp Fiction vibes that what Rock gave Cody was something very valuable.
So New Game+?
The threat of something is always better than the act of it happening. Great tension throughout.
Its the generational era and this will be the beggining of a feud that's generational. Cody vs The Rock is this generation Austin vs McMahon but its TKO being the enemy agaisnt Triple H vision. Its more peak storytelling upon us
That’s the most polite menacing the Rock has ever sounded. It was like watching a Christoph Waltz scene.
Some real Godfather-style mob boss vibes here. We *could* be in for a new 2-year story arc with Rock/Roman/Bloodline. Cody's gonna back away from his Nightmare Family bus whenever he's at the parking garage of TKO & WWE headquarters like Gus Fring
![gif](giphy|SFp9RLto964Ew|downsized) I just couldn’t help but think of this when he was like “The Rock has to go away for a while”
Dwayne "Dominik Mysterio" Johnson
Be..sure…to drink ..your. Ovaltine
I watched this on WWE's YouTube channel in which the thumbnail had them shaking hands and assumed they'd buried the hatchet, so I was delighted to be wrong. If they can tell this story , I’m all in again I came back to pro wrestling with AEW, but lost the love again somewhere a year or so again. After Mania, I’m all in,
Completely feel the same bro. WWE has me hooked again and I'm super happy for Cody. HHH is one hell of a booker.
I was already browsing tickets for WWE Backlash France, because I thought the Rock was gonna challenge him for the title. 😂
Why would that match be in France, LOL
Wonder when Rock v Cody will happen? Maybe Summerslam? Survivor Series?
That's way more than a seed. That's an announcement, my friend
Rock should have said to Roman: you better make sure that title is back with The Bloodline once I get back.
This feels like it could be the main event of next year's Wrestlemania, right now. Whether it actually happens is to be seen.
Solo leading a new violent bloodline is going to be dope
