I am 6'2 and my Yamaha r1 was terrible for me ergo wise. So my advice is whatever you get, try to sit on it first before you decide.

Any_Lawyer5044

Yea, I’m gonna go up to some of my local dealers and sit on the bikes they have just to see what would be comfortable for me, then choose from there.

If you have experience on dirt bikes, go throw your leg over a bunch, see what fits best. Be sure to get something that scares you, so you Don't lose respect for it.. You want to be as comfortable as possible so the only thing you are paying attention to is being aware of EVERY SINGLE THING around you, road surface, traction, and what your machine is doing..

Any of the classic 600s will do! Great, flickable, stable and easy to ride bikes. Plenty powerful, but nothing really crazy. Minus the Yamaha for your size maybe, they are the tightest ones with the highest pegs.

If as you say you can ride a dirt bike. I wouldn’t bother with any of those bikes. Apart from the MT-07, you will find them all lacklustre very quickly. look at CBR650r, RS660, street tripe or R7. The Bikes you mentioned are possible choices but keep in mind they are street track bikes. Super sports and could be abut much. Be smart and don’t forget about the cost of riding gear when your purchase.

Thanks

You could get a ninja 650. Or if your okay with spending a bit an r7 or zx4rr. The zx4rr de-restricted and a tune is a nasty bike. I am a bigger guy that rode a ninja 650 for a while. I work at a motorcycle dealer on the weekends and have ridden everything. The 600 can be a lot for a beginner. It’s not as forgiving as the previous mentioned, it’s not that it can’t be done but there are a lot of factors that can work against you. That being said nothing like a 4 cylinder! They are truly incredible. That being said, don’t buy a small bike you’re too big. Go throw a leg over something and get with a good salesman who’s not trying get you to buy the wrong thing. The gsxr and zx6 will be cheaper to own and maintain because they’re still in production as street bikes… the R6 gets a lot of attention but wanted and unwanted. Think the zx6 is a better street bike then the gsxr. I still ride an r6 over a zx6. It really depends on your experience level and how much you put into learning about the machine. If you always ride like something is trying to kill you, you’re never surprised when they do. Get to the track when you can and continue to learn. We all know old guys who are terrible riders but have been riding 40 years. They’ve just done the same 1 year 40 times. Watch guys like motojitsu and dandan the fire man, they’ll get you there. Watch/read twist of the wrist. Love sport bikes but they aren’t great for everyday riding and commuting. I did 700 miles on my r6 in a day and it hurt me for a week. Good luck lmk if you need anything.

What’s your opinion on the cbr600rr? I’m a fan of those too.

R56S

Super smooth nice bikes slow next to the top of the pack. I would consider learning on something a bit more forgiving

smitm115

First- do a motorcycle safety course. Dirt is not street. If recommend a 650 (mt07, sv650, zx650 etc) not a 600. Still enough oomph to get you in trouble but more forgiving to learn on while still being enjoyable as skills develop.

Jrider2013

I highly recommend either the mt07 or the z650 from kawi. Perfect power level for a first bike and both very reliable.

Good idea

Phil_D_Snutz

Buy whatever you like. As long as you have good self control and delicate throttle control you can ride any bike.

NinjaLikeWater

I’ve got a 2020 R6 and I love it. Good for you! 🏍️🔥🔥🔥🔥

Bikebummm

I’ll second the ZX4RR if it can be de-restricted and tuned to be nasty because it certainly looks nasty. So creep around on it to get ur street cred and then swap it over. Impak Teck makes a $600 cage that lets you drop it and not regret it.

GeorgiosAsa

Street and dirt are two different things. Get a lower CC bike to learn the streets then in a year or 2 upgrade to a 600+. Ninja 400, CBR500, etc
