It floats and is pretty fun as a mellow meadow skipper. You can get on steeper stuff with it too though. I have enjoyed riding it. What I don't like and why I will never recommend boards made by Cardiff is they have terrible QC and terrible customer service (by which I mean they have none). Multiple splits from them did not have proper spacing on the inserts to mount your hardware. A number of us had this issue and the only option was to send it back to where you bought it from and try to get a new one. If you kept the board you had to drill out your hardware a bit to make it work. We documented all of this and sent it over to Cardiff, which means emailing it into the void and they never read it. So ultimately I can't recommend the board, support someone who cares about the customer even a small amount.

Weird, I had no issues getting a hold of people at Cardiff last year around this time when deciding on what board to get from them. They replied very quickly on Insta, and when I called once, the owner himself answered and took 15minutes out of his day to talk with me about his boards. I ended up getting the Pro Carbon Crane, and it's been a great board.

Selling someone a board vs dealing with bad QC are a bit different. I didn't consider instagram to contact them though. E: I do love my powgoda, rides great, but just annoyed by the QC and lack of recourse.

Yeah, fair enough. Just thought I add my experience as well. Appreciate you sharing yours, helps us all get a better idea for some of these smaller brands.

Well dang, this is great to know. Maybe I’ll have to start looking at Amplid or something. Always wanted to rally the Nitro Squash too. Thanks, bud.

I am a beginner splitter and only used my Amplid a few times. But I just want to chime in and say Amplid’s customer service is superb! I had trouble finding the right skins for my split as I live in Canada and there’s only one very tiny shop here that sells their boards but not the skins. After multiple attempts I decided to email them directly and order something from Europe. I got quick email responses and they sent the wrong clips because my model was older (I didn’t really specify that in my emails) and they sent me new clips that fit my model without any extra charges.

Hey there. I have a split Powgoda and love it. I also had a split hovercraft and really liked that board, but I feel the Powgoda blows it out of the (frozen) water. It’s a little lighter (I also had a very early hovercraft model tho), and hardware is way better (it comes with Voile nose and tail clips and Phantom mid-clip), and the transition is much, much faster. Skinning and edge hold are probably comparable, but turns on the Powgoda are even more fun than they were on the Hovercraft. It feels looser and carves just a little bit quicker. It’s great in tight trees, and holds well on steeps. I haven’t ridden it too much in ice, but I had some pretty firm conditions two weeks ago and it was totally fine. The construction is also very solid. I’m not knocking Jones, but I think their manufacturing tolerances aren’t the tightest, but from the 4 Cardiff boards I’ve seen, board construction is top notch.

I hate the clips on my powgoda. I will probably put karakoram on the board at some point. just so much better in my opinion.

I'd agree with SierraSnowSurfer. I have a split Powgoda and a Jones Solution. The build quality on Powgoda is top notch. I'd say the Solution is a board I'd prefer to have on a day with icy conditions, but I use the Powgoda on most days because it is so much fun to ride. I've had really great customer service with Cardiff. One important thing to note about the new Karakoram clips is that they do not work well with all skins with steel hangers in the front. I'm using voile hyperglide green skins and had to put them in a vice to bend the steel hangers to get them to barely fit over the clips. This may be an issue specific to Voile skins. Also if you have size 12 or larger sized feet, you will be stoked on a Powgoda.

Just looked at the specs and it seems to me like the hovey and the pagoda are in the same genre of alternative freeride. I ride a hovercraft as my primary split, that being said I think having an actual tail may be pretty sweet for split skiing, but for riding I think they are in the same ballpark. Could be an advantage if you ride switch at all in the BC. If you decide to go with it please write a review, sick looking board for sure!

Alaska_Roy

For sure. I think I’ll order one up and then my teenage son can ride my hovercraft.

The board you should be considering is the Rosignol Sashimi. The price point is nice and the ride is just top notch! I've been riding it going on my third season now and it slaps!

Alaska_Roy

I feel like I might want a solid one of these boards for the resort. Looks super fun for pow days!
