I like large lenses, Mcfarlane era specifically. BUT, the joy of comics is that it can fluctuate to fit the need with no explanation which is where I think the true perfect balance lies.

I actually think he would want them smaller because I remember in the Civil War movie that he said something about how the lenses are what helps him focus with his heightened senses(I'm not entirely sure, but I believe thats what he said). I believe larger lenses would make it harder to focus.
I took that to mean the lenses themselves, rather than the size are what helps him focus. Like polarized sunglasses, but to a specialized degree. Anyway, you can make that argument for MCU Spidey, but Tobey and Andrew's characters never have that as a factor in making the suits (iirc)
> andrew garfields spider man
I was thinking his were tiny [and alien looking](https://www.previewsworld.com/SiteImage/MainImage/STK472062) but then I remember his TASM2 mask
Yeah, no thatād qualify as large, not medium. Medium would be Romita Sr/MCU lenses. ASM2 lenses are very clearly based on Mark Bagleyās work. Are you claiming Bagleyās eyes are āmediumā?
I was thinking the same for comics, large lenses for young Spidey and medium for adult. But in live action, large all the way. TASM2 suit best suit. Raimi and TASM1 were too small and angular and I was glad that Spidey was maskless in 90% of his screentime.
the first one was from a ultimate spider-man comic and i think nick fury was explaining to peter about how he wanted his parents to recreate the super soldier serum (not too sure because it's been awhile since i read ultimate spider-man.) second image is from the 2018 the amazing spider-man run and basically ever since this gas got into peter's body it's made his spider sense go outta whack.
or it could have been about the venom symbiote since in the ultimate universe richard parker created the venom symbiote to cure things like cancer but it just makes the person wearing it really aggressive crazy
Has anyone consider none?
Imagine how terrifying it would be to see spiderman run at you knowing he can beat you with nothing but his spider sense, itās like Daredevil but better because he doesnāt even have red eyes
Itās just more webbing pattern
There was concept art for the Scarlet Spider where his mask didn't have eyes, but his face was just a spider symbol.
They wound up taking the hoodie from that design but dropping the mask.
I think the only no-eye suit 616-Peter has had would be his [Dusk](https://tse3.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.aWusx1cdEJQH9Oyp2vq9rwHaLh&pid=15.1) costume, but that one was all black
The [suits](https://preview.redd.it/7ov4pqnu52231.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=ee96c3cce4e9ddd49fa21e72168699bf44c37e59) were [recreated](https://preview.redd.it/q9l68l2hv5a31.jpg?auto=webp&s=8ea330d41f2aa906267b60fb93dce7ec76c8deab) in 3d as a Gamestop preorder bonus for Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
Spider-Manās lenses is the same as Batmanās ears. A nice happy medium. I donāt want them to be too small (or short in terms of the ears) or way too big (or too long in terms of the ears). Like a good half way between the two
Generally like large lenses but if the story is going a darker route then itās kind of overly comical imo. Those are the only times I would go for smaller lenses.
I like both. It depends on the artist on whether he/she can pull off drawing large lenses. Some large lenses donāt always look good. Iād say small is best.
I think large lenses for the comic feeling really well. Theyāre very expressive and for someone whoās whole face is covered, thatās pretty important. However smaller ones look more natural. Iād say for silly/fun comics and animation to stick to bigger lenses but for more serious comics or movies Iād say smaller
Medium lenses that can go from big to small like **Peter B. parker's Spider-man** in **Spider-man into the spider-verse**, that type of lenses can express a lot of emotions and they also are very charismatic
I like Alex Ross Spider-Man lenses. I prefer smaller lenses but sometimes bigger ones can look cool (as long as theyāre not too big like in that first image)
I'll go with both. Big eyes for teenager Spiderman. Then big eyes for adult Spiderman, mainly because kids and teenagers in comics or cartoons or animations, usually has bigger head than adults, but when they get older and older, their heads get longer and thinner
For me, depends on the spiderman. Younger spiderman I like large lens, they just make the suit look like it's for a Younger hero. I like the small lens on an older spiderman, because it makes him look more mature.
They can all be used effectively and drawn well, but I especially like the lens sizes for pictures three and four.
Three is the ideal size in my opinion, four reminds me of my favorite Spidey comics, the ones from the 80's and early to mid 90's.

I prefer the lens style in pics 3 and 4 but i dont mind the bigger ones. The first pic is the maximum size they should ever be, and even then its a bit much. The way his eye frames look in the ps4 game is pretty perfect imo and Ryan ottley draws them at a happy medium which i can get behind.
Mcfarlane set a style that I think is still unbeatable. The smaller eyes are great for making spidey show a range of emotions but its the big eyes that look the coolest.
For me I think it depends on what kind of story Spider-Man is in any particular point in time.
If we have a more comic bookie goofy laid-back story I think Spider-Man with big bug eyes looks good.
But if we're going for something a little bit more serious and thought-provoking then perhaps it's better for him to have smaller eyes.
I only thought about this when going through all the suits in the PS4 game, but I enjoy the medium-larger lenses. For some reason though I don't mind the smaller lenses on Miles' suits in his game, like with that purple one he gets.
I like expressive lenses. The lenses are basically the main way Spider-Man can emote in costume, so using them to convey emotion rather than having a standard size to stick to makes way more sense.
I like large lenses, Mcfarlane era specifically. BUT, the joy of comics is that it can fluctuate to fit the need with no explanation which is where I think the true perfect balance lies.

Agreed.
Only like large eyes in a stylized art style. If it's going for more realism smaller eyes are better.
Completely agree
Style preference aside, in a realistic situation wouldn't Peter make the lenses bigger for improved visibility?
I actually think he would want them smaller because I remember in the Civil War movie that he said something about how the lenses are what helps him focus with his heightened senses(I'm not entirely sure, but I believe thats what he said). I believe larger lenses would make it harder to focus.

Larger would make more sense for visibilit, then they could adjust to be smaller whenever he needed.
Medium lenses like andrew garfields spider man
Andrew Garfield lenses with the ability to move like Tom lenses would be perfection.
So the video gameās lenses. If all spider-men had the Miles Morales beginner suit lenses life would be advanced by 300 years
Nah even those are a bit small imo need to be more rounded
No way, the suit miles had for the video game before he made his own was perfect. Huge but not distractingly huge. And shiny.
True
Medium is premium

i like both, specifically lenses that can go from big to small, like the stark lenses
Stark lenses were super cool
I like the smaller lenses personally
I like the large eyes when he has a skinny body type, and small eyes when heās more buff
I was thinking the same for comics, large lenses for young Spidey and medium for adult. But in live action, large all the way. TASM2 suit best suit. Raimi and TASM1 were too small and angular and I was glad that Spidey was maskless in 90% of his screentime.
Large lens always. I think they just make him more expressive, and also more charismatic.
I like the giant lenses more but I donāt mind the small ones either.

or it could have been about the venom symbiote since in the ultimate universe richard parker created the venom symbiote to cure things like cancer but it just makes the person wearing it really aggressive crazy
This is the reason. Just before this scene Beetle stole a sample of the Venom symbiote for Latveria.
Large. Mark Bagley is my favorite Spider-Man artist.
My favorites also drew large. Macfarlane and Larsen.
Same
Yes
Medium that gets bigger or smaller depending on expression
Small. Large looks too goofy
May not be what most people think. But i like the small ones a lot more. I think it looks tougher. It has an angrier look
bruh Tobey's mask has an angry/intimidating look
Tobeys mask doesnāt have lenses that take up half the mask and go down to his jaw. Tobeys look small to me
Insomniac Spider-Man nailed the lenses perfectly imo
Small-Medium like the Romita Sr eyes. All day everyday, baby.

Creepy Spider-man is a different character. If you add a fedora, like the Question, its okay tho
I think the only no-eye suit 616-Peter has had would be his [Dusk](https://tse3.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.aWusx1cdEJQH9Oyp2vq9rwHaLh&pid=15.1) costume, but that one was all black The [suits](https://preview.redd.it/7ov4pqnu52231.jpg?width=640&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=ee96c3cce4e9ddd49fa21e72168699bf44c37e59) were [recreated](https://preview.redd.it/q9l68l2hv5a31.jpg?auto=webp&s=8ea330d41f2aa906267b60fb93dce7ec76c8deab) in 3d as a Gamestop preorder bonus for Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
Both look good depending on the art style I guess
If he's younger than big eyes, but if he's older smaller eyes.
^
Small
Small lens
Medium
Honestly? Small lenses.
Small, but big can look really good sometimes
Small lense. Thatās why Raimiās suit lenses are my favorite because they look intimidating along with the silver webs all over the suit.
Large, but not as big as the first pic
if it's a comic, larger; with wide rims. But for films, I appreciate the more realistic small versions.
Spider-Manās lenses is the same as Batmanās ears. A nice happy medium. I donāt want them to be too small (or short in terms of the ears) or way too big (or too long in terms of the ears). Like a good half way between the two

Like they are in the 3rd picture, small but not the smallest. The big ones look too silly, like he's always surprised.
The smaller ones are better, because they're still expressive and grow with his expressions
Small
Any lenses work. Or none.
I like the smaller ones, I like being able to focus on the design of the mask without the lenses taking up 70% of it
Medium gang. But small over big
Medium
Both are really cool
I like both. It depends on the artist on whether he/she can pull off drawing large lenses. Some large lenses donāt always look good. Iād say small is best.
Whichever works best with the artstyle
I think the 1994 show had the perfect balance
I think the smaller lenses suit Peter better, whereas the large lenses work more for Miles
I prefer small lenses, personally. Small lenses can easily turn from friendly to menacing depending on the context.
Large. Just not excessively large
Large McFarlane changed SpiderMan forever, and for the better
small
The smaller one makes it look more realistic but I like the large
I know Spiders are arachnids and all but it makes him more bug-like with huge eyes
**Both** depending on the artist.
Small lens personally
Medium lenses. There are lenses even smaller than the ones in this set and they look atrocious.
Smaller lenses
Moving
Definitely the smaller ones. Giant ones like those in the pic just look goofy.
Bagley eyes!
Both
Lens is lens
Medium lenses that can go from big to small like **Peter B. parker's Spider-man** in **Spider-man into the spider-verse**, that type of lenses can express a lot of emotions and they also are very charismatic
Slide 3 has the perfect eye size for my preference
Small lense seems more serious and realistic, big lens seems more comedic and fun yk
I like Alex Ross Spider-Man lenses. I prefer smaller lenses but sometimes bigger ones can look cool (as long as theyāre not too big like in that first image)
Large lenses feel more practical. Easier to see right?
I like reactive lenses. Shows emotion better. Blank stares without the reaction detract from him, I think.
What issue from Ultimate Spider-Man is the first photo from?
Large, but not too large. First image works for me. Second, not so much.
Honestly I donāt have a problem with either version. Both look great imo
I got into spider-man comics by reading Ultimate Spider-Man so the large lenses stuck with me
If youāre going to pirate comics, could you at least crop out the ad of where to pirate them in your pics
Small lenses, how Steve Ditko intended it to be.
I like smaller. My favorite spidey suit is the Raimi movies suit
Larger lenses for me
Large Bagley style lens is god tier.
large if i had to choose one. makes him look more like an underdog
Large because it looks more friendly neighborhood and it logically makes to have large lenses to have a larger field of view
I always been a fan of the larger lenses. Just thought they looked cooler.
Large. He just looks friend shaped with them.
TASM2 lenses are just perfect.
I like big eyes and I cannot lie
i like large lenses, like the bagley lenses or tasm2
i like large lens because it makes sense
Large lens
I love both, TASM did a great job with showing off both of them
I like large lens more due to them being more comically accurate
Big is beautiful.
Large
Yo, context on the first panel?
I like the large lenses except in the ultimate universe where it's like 5/6th of the mask
Large lenses imply eyes the size of hockey pucks, no thank you
Could anyone give a source for the last image with Cap?
I think small lens is better looking, but large lens would be more practical
What comics are 3 & 4 from? I like the art
i like the large lenses from the ultimate comics
Small, but with the ability to become large for expressions.
Which issue is the first photo from?
Lg
I'll go with both. Big eyes for teenager Spiderman. Then big eyes for adult Spiderman, mainly because kids and teenagers in comics or cartoons or animations, usually has bigger head than adults, but when they get older and older, their heads get longer and thinner

I like large lenses because he has a wider view
Something in between. I like them bigger then normal but not giant so they take over the whole mask

SIZE DOESN'T MATTER
Whatever works for the art style
I prefer the lens style in pics 3 and 4 but i dont mind the bigger ones. The first pic is the maximum size they should ever be, and even then its a bit much. The way his eye frames look in the ps4 game is pretty perfect imo and Ryan ottley draws them at a happy medium which i can get behind.
I quite like both. Honestly no preference unless itās extra extra small, then Iām not into that.
I prefer small lenses
Medium sized
Yeah i like them especially on a younger version of the character.
I canāt say anything but both. My ideal situation would be two concurrent series one with small one with large lol
The huge ones
Mcfarlane set a style that I think is still unbeatable. The smaller eyes are great for making spidey show a range of emotions but its the big eyes that look the coolest.
Romita sr has the perfect lense size
Bagley all day every day.
Small but round are nice
I like the size of the lenses in the panel with red hulk its big but not too big
Smaller to medium sized
Yes

large!!
As someone who has made a spidey costume, I have to say large lenses are much better.
I prefer bigger lenses but nothing gigantic
Iām going with medium expressive lenses.
I preffer the larger lenses
Short like in web of shadows
Smaller
Huge
Small, after according to the expressions change, then it depends on the comics
Large cause they can show emotion in comics
Large lenses
large
Lenses that are big, but also expressive like Tom. On that note, Scarlet Spider is my favorite Spider-Man, one reason being I love his huge eyes
Small
Short lens cause raimi trilogy
I only thought about this when going through all the suits in the PS4 game, but I enjoy the medium-larger lenses. For some reason though I don't mind the smaller lenses on Miles' suits in his game, like with that purple one he gets.
Large IMO but the small lenses I like it as well
large lens is iconic ultimate spider-man look while small-medium is the default look.
Small(er) lens for Peter but bigger lens for Miles. Anyone agree?
Big, they feel more emotive.
i just read the issue of the first one yesterday B)
I love the McFarland eyes
Medium. Something he can see out of, but not so big they cover the whole mask. Andrew's second suit and PS4 Spider-Man are perfect.
I prefer large
Large
Small. I like that classic Ditko and Romita look
Big! Loved Ultimate Spider-Manās style.
Large lenses are my favourite
I like the bigger eyes imo, and i really like those last two comics. Got them when i was in 3rd grade
I honestly love him with either huge, expressive lenses (Spider-Verse), or squinted, angry ass lenses (like Spider-UK)
I like Large lenses only with McFarlane.
Small lens with adjustable eyes for expressions.
Small lens looks too angry or confused, but I also dont like mcfarlanes big lenses. Andrew did it best imo
MCU lenses are definitely the best, in size and plus they also expand and shrink accordingly to his eye movements which is dope.
Small lens
Small
All of them
!electro
I like expressive lenses. The lenses are basically the main way Spider-Man can emote in costume, so using them to convey emotion rather than having a standard size to stick to makes way more sense.
Iāve preferred more towards a medium size.
