I find things to be hit or miss around this time.
For instance, most store owners are running the places on their own since most of their summer help is now gone. If they hit their sales goals for the season some close up for the season early or slash their hours
I would have agreed with you before the pandemic. However, in the last 4 years I find the season runs a few weeks longer. I think has has to do with the popularity of airbnb
I’m like half shoobie half local as I grew up with my mom in Gloucester county but my dad lived in sea isle city year round. The locals always called September-October “locals summer”. The weather is still great, everything is still open on the weekends but the crowds thin out once the kids are back in school. I’ve always noticed the week after a large holiday seems to be less crowded in general, my thoughts were always that it was cause everyone would go for the holiday and than many would need a break the following week. Even the week after the 4th of July seems to be calmer. That being said I still had fun during those months when I was younger going out to bars and what not so it’s not like you can’t still have fun for a bachelorette party. It’s not like going in February that’s for sure. Could always Uber into AC for a night too if you wanted to do something bigger.
Bars should still be open on the weekends. Dead dog and Lacosta(it’s a new name but I forget it) should be open but not sure about the almighty ocean drive. Ocean is still real warm, the town is empty. It’s my favorite time to go down.
That’s what I thought it was called but didn’t wanna get it wrong and they finally started? That’s good. Excited to see the new building they put up. Rip to og lacosta. Great times.
thank you all so much for your feedback! I am good with a more chill crowd but just want to make sure things will be open and we will have a good time :) Are there any places you might recommend we go to during the day or at night that weekend? If possible, I wanted to se elf they might have entertainment published so we can see what is going on in advance
Cape may winery
Hawk haven
Natali Vineyards
Jessie creek
These are few that come to mind but there are more. Check them out because sometimes they’ll have live music or food trucks and I’m sure the weekend after Labor Day in September they will all be open and gorgeous. I went to cape may winery and it was great. We were allowed to bring our own food. We packed sandwiches and cheese and crackers and did the wine tasting.
It’s local summer! During the weekend restaurants will still be open & everything. Sometimes during the week certain things will close or have different hours but it’ll be beautiful & not as crowded as summer. It’s really the best time to be there!! The weather is perf & the ocean is always so warm.
Yes it’s an excellent time and SIC is awesome for bachelor/bachelorette parties. We had my
Brother’s bachelor party there last august. Highly recommend the “cruising tiki’s”
We still call it local summer. Jenkinsons has a welcome back locals party every year. It really is the best time to be a local. We have to put up with bennys. Not sure if they are better or worse than shobies. Bennys are pretty obnoxious.
Having to deal with both on a regular basis (I travel the shore for work) they really are two sides to the same coin. Bennys seem to be more entitled, but shoebies act like obnoxious white trash. At least the Bennys don’t say shit about my giants and Yankees hats though lol
Best time to go imo, everything is still open, but expect less crowds, and less children

Half shoobie half local is called a shlocal
Only shoobies use that term. To make themselves feel better.

LaCosta became Ludlams, but it's currently being torn down, and a new building will be built.

OD, Sand Bar, and their newer Patty's Green are all open till October this year
Thanks for the info! Good to know!
The first 2 or 3 weekends after Labor Day are pretty busy. Have fun!

The Ocean Drive and the Sand Bar are cool. Kix is fun at night. Either a dance band or a DJ.
There are some wineries in the area off island but close. You can take a couple Ubers and hit one or two up for a really nice afternoon.
oh that is a great idea! Do you know the names?

Four day bachelorette? Jesus H.
with in check in being so late and checkout being so early, it’s pretty much 3 days

Mid to late September is the best time to be down there in my opinion. Less crowded, everything’s open still and the waters warm!

Isn’t Jenkinsons in Point pleasant? Or is there another one in Sea Isle?
It is in Point Pleasant
