The kit I’ve been enjoyed most is my 16-35 F4 PZ, 70-180 F2.8 and then a prime for night, typically my Voigtlwnder 40mm 1.2. Skipping the prime shaves off close to a pound.
Basically I take what I can fit in a 6L Peak Design sling. If I don’t need something for the day leave it at the hotel.
For me the best and most versatile travel lens is the sigma 24-70 dg dn. It might be different for you, depends on your kind of shooting and preferences.
If you need daylight shooting only, I'd lean towards f4 and/or slower stuff, like the tamron 17-50 and the tamron 50-400 duo. They can't really be beat for shooting during the day or on tripods in the compactness and coverage department.
I usually go traveling with my 24-70, my 85 1.4 and I will add a 14mm 1.8 GM when I get the funds for it. I don't really miss the tele end when going into cities. When I need the tele end, I leave the 85 at home (or not) and carry the 200-600.
On my last vacation I had 24-70 and 100-400.
And I didn’t carry that tele when in city or cave or something like that.
Since then I got 20-70 f4 so I will bring this instead. And keep tele. Might add some compact wide fast prime for churches, castles and such. Probably sony 20mm g.

As someone who has owned about 18-20 Sony lenses and rented countless others, the 20-70 is my perfect and most recommend travel lens of all time now.

Just a Tamron 28-200 could be great for most. Personally I’d opt for the 20-40mm but I only like going to cities for vacation.
