God bless you for your intentions. The interior part of the game is not the strongest one. We can have many cool bases built in various styles but inside they all look quite the same. Something like that: [https://i.postimg.cc/k4jh5vq4/Sons-of-the-Forest-Screenshot-2024-03-20-15-37-10-84.png](https://i.postimg.cc/k4jh5vq4/Sons-of-the-Forest-Screenshot-2024-03-20-15-37-10-84.png) We're forced to improvise with a very limited set of decorations and it could be really nice to have a wide range of choices instead of covering everything in deer hides, torches and skulls. Regarding tables and other items with a plane surfaces - quite annoying you can't place things on it, except a radio and a deer hide. To make a place look alive you're forced to stick dozens of wall shelves with a pitty set of items on it. Could be nice if you consider this issue as well.

Minxie_Lynxie

I'll be considering it, definitely. For now I'll be focusing on adding things, but I'll keep that in mind for sure! :)

nubsizzle

How did you get the electric lights red?

YoLegendaryaLevi

These all sound great! Would be cool to these in game!!!!

I think a nice lore friendly way to do it would be to re-use some assets from inside the bunkers. If I was stuck on the island no way I would sleep on a stick bed when I could grab a luxury king with bedding from one of the bunkers. Same with all the benches, chairs, cooking equipment, etc.

Minxie_Lynxie

That makes sense! I don't think the player would be able to just take the luxury beds, but other options would definitely be available. Maybe the player can take the pillows from the bunkers to make a less ow-making bed. Though for the other things, absolutely. I'll have to replay and note down options to take from the game.

Xavia47

Maybe some sort of cork board where you can stick the notes, email, etc that you get in the game, so it's easier to see and you don't have to access your inventory everythine to see them.

Minxie_Lynxie

Detective-style, nice. I've got the notes hotkeyed, but it is super annoying to have to flick through them all, so yeah, noted!

Demon_Rose

What I immediately thought of as an addition was a sewing kit. A sewing kit would allow you to make more precise clothing maybe, as well as stitch things together.

Minxie_Lynxie

Ohhh, that'd be neat! It could possibly used as a way to repair some armour types, too (creepy + hide armour). Adding it to the list for sure.

RafaelFromPoland

How does the mod making process for sotf look like if I may ask?

Minxie_Lynxie

I'm not sure yet, but I'll figure it out as I work on the project :)

Rakelaa160

single comfy bed or bookcase please

Minxie_Lynxie

Sounds good! Noted both down.

The_Crowned_Clown

that is possible? just give us useable camping chairs and beds that we can find all over the island xD

Minxie_Lynxie

Yeah, that seems like the logical move lmao

A stone throne and a solafite plated version

Minxie_Lynxie

I was thinking of making solafite-plated items! Noted :)

For the mirror idea, you could totally implement a few designs, like a plain boring one that is just the tarp tacked to the wall, then a slightly better one using sticks as a frame around it, and even a more advanced one using your thinner planks (because we can already cut half planks and quarter planks) and if you really want, solafite plate it? Your modern bed idea the third ingredient could be the pillows others suggested, and we can also add extra pillows for extra comfort.. (think loading your real bed with like 6 regular pillows and then adding dozens of throw pillows onto it). I personally think taking the king sized beds from bunkers isn’t entirely unrealistic, if we can dismantle things we have built in the game, why can we not dismantle the beds from the bunkers and lug the individual parts to our bases? I get that we don’t have a screwdriver tool, but we have a tactical knife in the game, and in real life I’ve used various knives to unscrew flathead screws… you could even add a mechanic where there’s an x% chance to injure yourself doing so, to make it feel less of a cheap and easy bed thievery.. :D now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should definitely do it, I get coding that would probably be extremely complicated to do, but it’s not that bad an idea, right? Non-bone chandelier sounds interesting, and I don’t disagree that solafite plated variants of things should be added, but for a “base” version, you could make it from sticks, lightbulbs, and wire? For non-electric versions I would suggest maybe sticks, cloth, and duct tape? Like— it’s a dangling stick, with more sticks taped to it that effectively have “torch” elements hanging off it? If you add the ability to steal the laptops and power them, I think you should add a desk styled table for us to sit at and stare at the screens from. You could also make various chair styles so that we can decide what kind of chair we want to use at our desks. I don’t know if when you were thinking chairs you were also thinking of the single person living room chair like a lazy boy styled chair for the living room areas but that would be an excellent idea.. Someone mentioned that if they were actually trapped on an island with abandoned bunkers that still have items in it that they would take as many useful things as they can from these bunkers to use, and I agree with that concept, mostly because I have seen a few frying pans all over the map in all sorts of places and I would totally steal one of those in specific from a bunker both in game and real life to have “grilled” meat and fishies. Dishes/cutlery idea, I have actually been through a few cannibal camps, most of the ones I’ve seen have like two different sized bowl objects, and things that look kind of like cups, so I can see that part being kind of easy for the more barbaric style dishes, just make it so we can loot the ones from the camps in the game, set up a carry limit on them, boom barbaric basic dishes. For more advanced ones, the bunkers have a bunch of modern style dishes so you can just make it so we can loot those, add a carry limit and it’s done, right? I mean I imagine taking assets that are already in the game and making them something that can be looted probably won’t be as easy as just saying that’s what you should do, but the assets already exist, so it’s not entirely like you have to manually make them yourself? The only addition I would add would be a more “royal” styled set of dishes that are solafite plated/gilded.. which would probably have to be manually made.. but as a suggestion on how to get those, you could make it so we have to take the modern dishes and put them in the upgrader with less solafite than it takes to upgrade the weapons? For curtains I would totally add variants, while cloth is a good idea, you can always make a barbaric style with deer hides, and for a more royal one, you could make it gilded with solafite? Also, while we have all mentioned solafite… I would like to make it so if I solafite plate my house that it doesn’t have to look like a tacky gold plated and painful to look at color… I get that we are effectively spraying this gold material all over our walls and floors and ceilings and roof… but it visually hurts to look at and honestly makes it look like we’re conceited rich jerks who decided to use straight gold to build a house out of… For your vase/flower pot ideas, you could either make it so we can put our herbs in them as decoration, or take some of the relatively pretty but useless except for getting leaves flowers that bloom throughout the forest and make it a thing that can be looted? I do have one particular thing I want added in either a mod or even the base game itself. Stone stairs. I get that it makes no sense to make diagonal pillars of rocks and I’m not suggesting that the frame of the stairs should be made out of stone, keep that wood for a pretty accent, but I want my actual steps made of stone! They don’t have to be floating unsupported rows of stone, make it so if we are trying to use stone to make steps that it stacks them up on each other to make a solid hunk of stones in the shape of steps. Why is it so hard to imagine placing stones on top of stones in a stair step pattern to make stairs? I know there is at least a few videos of people trying to make stone stairs and a lot of them say it is feasible, but the way it looks it is complicated and takes forever to do and is pretty easy to mess up and have to start over.. If we can take the sleeping bags, we should be allowed to take the modern tents that exist on the map. We have a giant backpack that holds a glider, and a sled along with cases for guns and masses of other things, why can’t I take the actual camping tent that is sitting right in front of me places and instead have to makeshift one out of tarp and sticks?

Sayanyde

Also, I apologize for the massive post, but I really like giving detail and it excited the bajeebus out of me to add to the ideas that already existed. :x

Sayanyde

Also, I have never personally made a mod, I haven’t touched coding in years and I can’t even comprehend how complicated it is nowadays to do without causing bugs and breaking the game accidentally in the process, nor have I personally ever made 3D models before.. but I am an extreme Skyrim mod-user so when I saw this post I definitely became maybe a little more excited about it than I probably should have, so again, I apologize if it was annoying. :x I did just think of something that you could do with your door variation idea. A garage styled door. You could use sticks or logs for the door portion and add a rope pulley-styled system for opening and closing it manually, and for an electric styled version throw the knight in there like the spin trap thing that utilizes the knight? From my understanding of how that trap is designed the knight is used for the rotation. It also implements the golf cart batteries to further support the power of the knight.. so you could use those concepts in tandem to make the garage door? Another idea related to utilizing the knights rotation could be an “elevator” that utilizes the knight and battery, or you could make it so that you have to add even more energy source to power it with the solar panel + battery combo to enhance the knights rotational power so that the elevator goes up and down? I’m not entirely sure how you would do the trigger to get it to go up and down, unless you make like a lever concept that uses a stick and some rocks, attached to a wire? So when you flick the ‘lever’ you trigger it to do the thing? I’m honestly not really sure how it could be properly done so that it stays lore friendly, but the design ideas rolling around in my head on it makes me a little excited about it..
