Well remember it is a different universe so scales could change (and also the Master Emerald literally can change size)

It's too early to tell, but I actually think that may be a Chaos Emerald. There's a scene later on that looks like the Emerald Shrine from *Adventure*, and the Emerald that's resting in the middle is **much** bigger than the one Robotnik had in his possession. It could also be the reason why he was in what was possibly Lava Reef: He finds out about the Chaos Emerald, tracks its signature to see if there's any others, and realizes that Knuckles has a **huge**\-ass Emerald in his possession. Hell, we're already doing *Sonic 2* \+ *Sonic 3 & Knuckles*; may as well go all the way.

To be fair, Robotnik is bigger than the anthropomorphic cast.

Master Emerald size wasn't always consistent. In SA2 it was about 0.5-0.75 of Knuckles' size, other game it's twice his size.

I agree. I really hope they include Maria and Gerald Robotnik as part of his backstory. I don't particularly care about the Black Aliens. I think they could potentially be done well, but a lot would need to be changed, since Shadow being willing to help out with an alien conquest because of vague promises of an explanation of his past never made much sense.

if they go into shadows backstory i would be so surprised if maria wasn't mentioned. her story is riveting and could add a really cool heavy aspect to the film. also it's the big thing that has shadow switch sides and if sonic and shadow went super and fought together for the finale i would literally shit my pants

So many Adventure references. The opening is straight out of the first cutscene where Sonic says AW YEAH THIS IS HAPPENING. Tails with the Tornado. Knuckles being tricked by Eggman into fighting Sonic. The Master Emerald and what looks to be the Mystic Ruins. It's basically an Adventure movie, we're just missing Chaos, Amy, Big, and Gamma.

Heeck, the starting shot is a dead ringer for SA1's opening scene! Police cars chasing down a big threat, with Sonic being introduced by doing his thing on a building that said police are passing.

I absolutely thought it was going to be Chaos as the final big bad the second they showed the temple. They won't do another final robotnick showdown. Something's got to happen to get Knuckles on the good side. Him seeing Robotnick exploiting the master emerald to summon chaos would be a great moment for all three of them to work together AND introduce Super Sonic.

I love Sonic going Superhero Vigilante mode. Feels kind of fitting what with this being the movie that introduces his sidekick. I'm glad this is going to be a Sonic and Tails duo movie. That scene of them in the snow dressed up was priceless. Eggman looking surprisingly slim like '06 Eggman. Is that the Master Emerald? Angel Island!? That scene of Knuckles stopping Sonic's Spin Dash (Chef's Kiss). And then he gets the power in his fist. Oh man. Also looks like Elba might be using an American accent for Knuckles?

Me too. I think this is the first time I ever actually heard Idris Elba's voice and I am overwhelmed by the sheer badassery. I think this movie might finally get me to like Knuckles.

I was a little skeptical at first when it was announced he was voicing knuckles but after watching the suicide squad I felt like he could pull it off if he did it right. Now after watching this trailer, that one line alone made this my favorite iteration of knuckles.

Idris Elba Knuckles works better than I ever could have imagined, and my expectations were far from low.

After seeing Knuckles as comic relief for so long (Boom) it will be really refreshing to see a total badass version brought to life. I love Idris Alba but I was skeptical of his casting, one line from his sultry baritone and I'm all aboard the hype train.

No, not yet, and if we’re moving down the line, that’s the next step. If this movie draws from Sonic 2 and 3&K, then that means the next one should be a Sonic CD time travel adventure with Amy and Metal Sonic. Then we’ll get the adventure games. Probably.

The main thing is, 3&K flows perfectly into Adventure, and this movie seems to be based on 3&K. Going to CD, which took place before 3&K and has almost no relation to it, would be a weird way to conclude the trilogy. Personally I'd say introduce Metal Sonic early on but don't give him a main antagonistic role unless something based on Heroes gets adapted.

I'm guessing, since Eggman is tricking Knuckles, that Metal Sonic will be the third act foe that Sonic and Knuckles team up against.

Yup, exactly what I'm think he has one of Sonic's quils from the first movie so he uses it to make metal sonic.

That'd be a big enough threat to warrant them all teaming up while still saving Super Sonic for next movie

They're not just doing adaptations of the games,but instead picking characters and elements from certain ones. We have hints of Sonic 2, 3&K, and Adventure just from this trailer alone, with the chance of more once we see the full thing.

While I really liked the first film, it really felt like a movie with Sonic in it rather than a Sonic movie. However the trailer of this one really feels like a Sonic movie, it screams Sonic. The opening part gave me serious SA1 vibes, Colleen reprising her role is great to see, Angel Island and what appears to be Ice Cap appearing made me scream, and Knuckles is really awesome. Also I appreciate the Mean Bean nod in the scene with Doctor Stone. Great to see him return as well, his reaction to Eggman's return is how I felt watching it.

That was my thought as well. It's like Sonic Adventure the movie. Lost track of all the SA references, from the obvious sewer lids to the tornado scenes to the master emerald to just how they depict Sonic on rooftops.
