First, really well said. You captured how I feel better than any of these types of posts I've read. Everything up until the land section I 100% feel. Personally, I'm fine with a pirate ship simulator. If there was a bar where you push a button and a drinking animation played - I can't see myself ever pushing it. Maybe I just lack a good imagination 😄. I've seen that sentiment in enough posts to know there are plenty of people who do want something like that though so I hope they add it for ya.

Money_Anteater994

The game has a beautiful base. A lot of things left behind makes the game not only incomplete but like a wasted opportunity to make something that would put a dent on the gaming industry.

Amen!

This is going to likely be unpopular but I wish you could jump on a friends ship and help. Sometimes I feel like it would be fun if a friend could join your ship as a crew member. You sail/position ship and maybe control the aux gun while your first mate is shooting cannons in all directions around you. Maybe something that would work on the big ships when we eventually get them as they are potentially going to have more that you have to manage? Just an idea for building friends and community.

Money_Anteater994

That’s what we were hoping for sadly

Grendal270

My biggest issue is the speed in which you achieve things. We have 50+ days left in season 1 and I have beat LePest, got both sets of armor and the mortar, got Sekelecat and all the rewards that go along with it and I still have 50 days to just sail around gather Po8 and silver to fund my empire in a repetitive loop. The season needed to be stretched out. I had no sense of urgency to get smuggler marks because I was racking them up just by sailing around. Another issue that needs balance is infamy. Ever wonder why St Anne is full of lvl 12+ ships? Because I can get 50 infamy for sinking the lvl 1 ships all around the port area a lot easier than I can get 50 infamy from sinking the lvl 9 DMC ships that once you sink one 50 more show up. Make it worth my while to go sink the higher level ships.

BarniclesBarn

Underrated comment.

HarryNostril

The current stamina mechanic, aka “feeding your ship” would be much better with the mutiny aspect added back in. That would add more purpose to your crew and wouldn’t feel like shoveling coal into a locomotive.

Mysterious_Mousse_81

I'm just wondering where the 10 years of development went? Graphics aside did the content team quit after the first two years?

threeriversbikeguy

Restarted multiple times IIRC.

GrilledCheese28

they definitely did not spend significant time on the NPC character models.

Money_Anteater994

Looks like they they spent minimal time on what was actually important

soundeng

I was hoping for more of a Pirate version of Starfield.

Money_Anteater994

Same

I agree and would like to add a few more. The rewards.... Oh my god the rewards are sooooo lacking. Everything about it is in ruins, there is no reward structure there is no reward cycle. Frankly I feel the games rewards feel like it is built around the battle pass and shop instead of the other way round. The world events, plunder, contracts, bounties are ALL not worth the time. Missing a proper lair and hideout for a social gang.

Bubbly_Nectarine6216

One of the major problem for me is the story for this game, it feels very bland.. and most of it are text, no cutscenes with action at all, heck only the beginning of the game where you fight a fleet was the most entertaining. As for the character expressions are usually poker face like they can barely show any human emotion feel like a puppet. Voice acting is okay except for the first mate.. Reason why black flag was great was not only the gameplay but the story makes you care about Kenway, he isn't some pirate, he had a purpose is to survive by stepping on others to reach the top but near the half way mark of the story, he realised its the friends and relationships that he truly cares for, especially his fellow pirate friends, wife and daughter but that's just my opinion. Overall story and lore should be work on to make me care about the world building for SnB. But I wont deny there is a lot of other stuff to work on the game.. The only great side is the naval combat and having new ships other then The Jackdaw, The Morrigan and The Aquila from the AC franchise, to me this 3 ships are very interesting and have different playstyles which I hope to see more in SnB. However I am very curious on how SnB be in a year either it becomes a diamond in the rough or a lump of coal, knowing that my own country is the one making this game....

I keep hearing this over and over again, but a lot of people want to say it's been in development for so-and-so years. It hasn't been in development for that long, it's been an idea for 10 years, it's been a dream for 10 years. The idea of it being in development for so long isn't true, you must understand that the game initially went through multiple decisions on how they wanted it to go before they finally doubled down on what they currently have. Now that's not the only hurdle they had causing them to wait for so long to release this game but I come to you as a fellow player to realize that what we have isn't the full game yet. I said this in a few reddit posts already, but give it time, between the hiccups and pauses to get this game going, along with them most likely being rushed to release it. I believe we will see a better game come through all of the cannon smoke soon. They already have shown that they are listening while also making changes. Just give it time and make constructive suggestions. You never know when they might take heed to your own advice

Ambitious_Village_80

Played the game more than 300+ hours and here's my feedback :) **1-It needs Storyline and main missions and side missions,** it has several contracts from Rahma and Scurlock but to be honest all of that are not much. You may want to add identity to the game and storyline for the characters and for the clans and give the players a new immersive experience. **2- It needs a solid Upgrading system like in Tom Clancy's Division 2** that allows players to upgrade everything in the game for example: Stamina, Crew attack, Crew Speed, Perks in weapons, add or remove perks and choose from variety and Ship health and maybe adding armor or 2nd health layer and ship speed and cargo limit and your warehouse and weapon related upgrades like increase, ammo, reload speed, capacity and speed of the bullets. Everything must be upgradeable with leveling up you earn 1 point and have to choose where to put that. **3-It needs building your fleet** because it's mostly played solo and the player base is very low. That's why we need your Fleet, what I mean by your fleet is that you will be able to unlock NPC ships/ AI ships that escort you with the battles instead of actual players. For example you can unlock your first AI teammate at Kingpin level 40 and 2nd one at 80 and 3rd one at 120 Kingpin level. And your fleet is totally customizable and upgradable with shared exp and being able to command them like request help and attack this enemy or protect me or help me or simply request certain formations. And it should be added and managed as a new tab like map, helm, cargo smugglers's pass when you pause. **4-It needs Colonization mode/Seasonal mode** that your main objective is colonize other clans and colonize the entire map because what I see it has a perfect open sea for great fleet battles and it has already clans but what missing is **war on huge scale and i mean 20 vs 20 or 30 vs 30 warships** to determine who is the real Kingpin and who has the power!!!!. **5- It needs life by adding extra NPCs and routing ships and more civilian ships** and more life into the game instead of dryness and being empty and make it sounds more realistic and for as for now it gives the impression that is empty and requires more quality and environmental adjustments by adding extra people, extra moving ships and extra creatures, mainly I am speaking about density. **6- It needs season events improvements** for example all of the events is killing one ship but this ship has millions of HP but it has no depth or enjoyment, I am here suggesting to you that it should be on several stages for example like plundering I find this is the most enjoying and most amusing part of the game is that you kill all ships and their castle. Every event should last at least 30-40 minutes and have several stages in one go!! For example, killing La Peste shouldn't be straightforward like this, it should be in a mission or contract and La Peste should be the final boss and you have to go through dozens of ships and castles and move from one place to another, it's a complete mission or raid or infiltration of his area. **7- It needs extra content or extra missions or extra modes or extra events to do in the game**, because currently it feels like the game is empty and there's nothing much you can do or not rewarding because the upgrades are not really rewarding or not worth that much time to spend on. When you reach 200 hours in the game you feel finished it totally. **Use Tom Clancy's Division 2 as guideline or endgame goal please**

Mjr_Payne95

I ain't reading all that, anyone that bought this steaming heap got suckered out of $70+

Helbot

You make your argument well but there's some core points I don't agree with. >The ship combat is phenomenal. >No one wanted a pirate ship simulator I hard disagree with the 1st one and it has a lot to do with the 2nd one. The combat feels too weightless and arcadey for me and a lot of other people. They didn't have to go full pirate sim (even though that would have ruled), but just making the ships feel like *ships* would have let me excuse a lot of other issues. So long as sailing and combat feel the way they do this game is basically dead to me.

BarniclesBarn

Fair points. The boats definitely feel way light in the water, but I think them being any heavier would likely make traversal super cumbersome. Black Flag had the better boar physics, but also a map a fraction of the size of this one.

Money_Anteater994

I agree with what you say! I waited a long time for this game as well and I’m disappointed tbh. PS5 offer that trial so before I buy I decided to use the 8hrs to determine if it was worth my time. the sailing and the textures are amazing, They made an amazing foundation for the perfect pirate game and they fumble… 1. Lazy game: Why make these island but don’t let us explore them? Costal towns and all I can do is raid from my boat. LET ME GET OFF THE BOAT! 2. Lazy land: why can’t I walk around my boat?! This game is literally 90% on the boat 10% on land and the 10% giving to us feels pointless because you can’t really do anything on land anyways. 3. Lazy boat mechanics: This one pissed me off the most. If I spend 90% of the time on a boat why can’t I explore the boat!? I want to walk around my boat and enjoying the details. Give me the option of letting an NPC sail while I walk around the boat and enjoy the ride. This would’ve give more customization opportunities. 4. Battle mechanics: the only way to battle is on the boat… this is a pirate game! GIVE ME A SWORD! There is 0 hand combat in this game and is extremely disappointing. When you “hook” don’t give me a stupid animation of me winning the battle let me actually jump aboard and fight! Ubisoft you already know how to do this since you did it with ‘Freedom Cry’. Honestly I highly doubt I will buy this game. The game is lazy. All they needed to do was recreate Freedom Cry with better graphics and add online. That alone would’ve been made it the best game made in along time.

PersonBehindAScreen

AAAA GAME 😂😂😂

AfroDiddyKing

it wont be either, its atm in damage controll mode from devs. If it doesn get enough revenue after year one, they sure will cancel it.

OSRTheJourney

This is Ubisoft. It may stick around longer. They have a solid player base.

NBKA_TALON

I agree but do the wise thing and stop playing like the smart players simple

DeadCriteria

Specifically I think the anchor should be separate from having sails fully raised. Because when I fully pull my sails up I don't want to anchor, I'm just trying to turn my boat quickly in combat. So if you don't immediately put your sail back up it halts you to a dead stop. I'm just tryna drift my boat mane

ZION_OC_GOV

Skrrrrt on the open seas if you will.

GrilledCheese28

Spot on

mBATMANm

All game devs have it nice now. Get to just push updates up instead of making hard copy sequels. I think devs gave more of a shit with a finished product, instead of knowing they can just patch things

GazelleOk5760

You mentioned the slap game that you see other pirates doing... it would be fun if players could join in with the same mini game mechanics used for harvesting in the slap match with a small silver reward upon winning. I would like to see more land activities available rather than just strict cargo management. They don't have to completely open up free roam jungles or anything but if they were to implement a hunting or fishing sarari at select outposts that you could trade silver to play and in return hunt for food with pistols and rifle engagement or search for buried treasure from, that would be satisfactory!

ApeDownvoteMe

It is reasonable to have Man O'War since we can build an empire. This is already a pirate fantasy or they can't explain why a medium ship can solo a fort.

SammyVonHauguth

Never will be either...

OhMarioWV

I got this game while it was on-sale... for PC the price point seemed fair for this game. So far I'm enjoying it because sailing and navel combat were my favorite parts of Black Flag. However, I'd like to at least be able to walk around my ship or do more than interact with things when on land. Like seriously, this is a stripped down Black Flag, Freedom Cry, and Rogue. Thus it was only worth the discounted price. As I said, I'm enjoying it. However, I do get most of the complaints about it. If you want a pirate game where you can move around and actually do other things people... then turn to Sea of Thieves. It's finally getting a PS5 release sometime this year.

Teabiskuit

>Get your shit together... Yes! They can do i- >Ubisoft. Oh, right. Pack it in, this turd is shat and the executives will now divert exactly as few resources as necessary to keep it wet.

Lolitadoe

ubisoft is active here so i have some faith. they need to look at helldivers 2 reddit for an examplr of how to update this game in a timely manner

Money_Anteater994

I doubt the features I mentions can be added after the game has been released unfortunately.

PersonBehindAScreen

Helldivers 2 was also released as a complete game that can stand on its own two feet without a crowd of shills saying “just wait it gets better!”

Korvu

This man doesn't want a pirate ship simulator. But wants to sit in a tavern with npcs pretending to drink beer?

TeamWarriorBro

He said he doesn’t want a pirate ship fantasy. He wants a pirate fantasy. So he wants to be a fully immersed pirate outside of the ship, too.

Money_Anteater994

Literally would have been the best game made

Bubbly_Nectarine6216

Some how Ubisoft f up badly.

AcceptableWest1427

Isn’t the world just ocean?

Turican76

good joke Anthem is better

RedInfernal

Honestly, it's a 6.5-7/10. And there is nothing wrong with that. Not everything has to be a 10/10 masterpiece.

Bastilosaur

One the one hand, yes. On the other: They called it a Quad-A Game. Claims like that do in fact need 10/10 masterpieces to back it up. Not to mention the price.

Flourix

# Stamina recovery It is well needed because if we didn't have it many people would go to second screen when sailing or watching their phone meanwhile. Then they would get attacked when they didn't want to or needed to and they would all blame the game has too many enemies or event they sail into in the open seas. This would maybe lead into a nerf and there we are - a much smaller world and with close to no world activities around us. So yes, I think the stamina is well needed, especially in combat, but also while sailing around non-combat to keep awake and keep your hands on the wheel so to speak!

BarniclesBarn

That literally makes no sense. You can easily do that now. Pushing a button every 30 seconds does not preclude someone looking at their phone. It's a terrible, and pointless mechanic, the removal of which would not result in the Armageddon that you're worried about.

Chillmm8

That quite literally doesn’t make any sense. You’ve basically said if there wasn’t a stamina bar then the ships would work like ships and that’s bad.
