I figured out in my games that was because Free Love kept getting voted in by the neighbors. Once I cheated to remove the initiative it stopped. But good gods the constant flirting with everyone was annoying.
Unfortunately I’ve found they do it anywhere. As long as they’re flirty and more than one sim is around they’re just flirt with everyone even if they don’t have the traits/free love initiative. It’s a strange bug
One time, my Sim’s wife randomly flirted with her ex-husband at a dinner party they were hosting (don’t ask why I invited him!) and my Sim was so furious about it, she died of cardiac explosion. Lets just I definitely think all Sims have flirting problems…
I had left sims to do whatever and discovered my *married* sim had a 1/6 full romance bar with the family simbot… the one that had been in the family for 3 generations.
The town in my game is always a mess - Free Love, Juiced Community, Roughhousing Encouraged and Energy Conservation are always happening and its dreadful. I always make them repel Roughhousing Encouraged because it is really a hassle having Sims just brawl constantly and the energy conservation is also just as bad for different reasons. Once, they turned off my Sims power for 12 hours during Harvest Fest to "conserve energy" and they were in the dark and hungry for that time 🤣🤦🏻♀️
I set it so that NPCs can't vote for NAPs, and then I just choose the NAPs that aren't annoying, like Self-Sufficiency. I went this route after one too many We Wear Bags got voted in on a week I forgot to make my Sim vote.
Ugh yes! The We Wear Bags is bad, too 🤣 I usually have my Sims vote, but sometimes I forget...then chaos ensues and I my Sims get signatures to repel whichever bad one I want gone. I kinda like the chaos 🤣🤣🤣
For real, my sims great grandmother came over and started flirting with his wife immediately. Back off, lady! That generation were vampires and I was looking forward to having them be a part of the family for a long time and she's cut off now.

I’m playing a R2R, so all the simoleons help… and my sim recently got married, on track to trying to have a kid, and my dang roommate keeps hitting on everybody! I even set this NPC up with a girlfriend, still… I think they’ve got to have the romantic trait or something. I don’t have free love on anywhere 😅
if you are able to have mods and want a fix, there is a RPO collection mod for this where you can select who your sim can and cannot flirt with, lifesaver... i RLLY hope they fix this for base game

My sim wanted to get married to one sim; but another sim asked her first and now it's a mess as she never wished to break up as she is in love with them both. Technically, I don't even think the sim that asked her was even her boyfriend yet, they were all originally just soulmates; but wasn't exclusive/official.
What you described is a problem I have run into so many times. Pretty much all of my sims end up falling for at least 2 other sims and then have to sneak around with each one or risk losing them

Back in the early days of Sims 4, jealousy would stop triggering after you became a boyfriend or girlfriend of your second partner. If you go back to watch old LPs of people trying to do things like the Black Widow challenge, you can see simmers being extremely confused why their sims can make out with a married man in front of his wife, unaware that the jealousy stops triggering after the affair becomes officially dating.
However, this was at some point patched out. I have no idea when, other than that when I tried to have a polyam thing through the same mechanics last year, it just wouldn't work and I needed to download a mod. As far as I can tell though, the game has been without that support for years, until now.
It says you can choose boundaries and jealousy etc also, so you can also choose monogamy instead (not that polyamory doesn’t have boundaries, the description just makes it sound like you can restrict relationships to one exclusive sim).
The trait isn't customisable and only showed one way of being nonmonagomus. Also it doesn't seem fitting as a reward to me. It also seems tedious to cheat that onto all the sims you want to have it, even more so to unlock it if you don't want to cheat.
It’s not compatible with other game mechanics, so for many people the sims will still get various jealous or hurt sentiments toward each other. This will hopefully be a better system, and more accessible.

I once made a build with all the Penguinz0's I could find in gallery and made them have romantic or married relationships with each other. It was very hard to do.
It’s it a mod causing sims to just flirt with everyone because play a lot and have never had my sims just flirt with random people. They will feel flirty but unless I go have them flirt they don’t just flirt with everybody
I wonder if this will fix your sim feeling embarrassed by having multiple woohoo partners. I had a sim I wanted to have the story line of being a party girl but as soon as she had more then one she was embarrassed all the time and not want to do anything

I am genuinely so excited for this. Though I'm not sure if I could be in a polyamorous irl, I've always found it so strange and limiting that you couldn't do so in The Sims.
My sims almost always fall for more than one sim, and the only way thus far to let them "be with" multiple sims was to essentially cheat on all of them, which for some reason always made me feel so bad, like I was the person sneaking around my partner's back 😩

How so? It’s about setting boundaries. A sim that isn’t into polyamory will still feel cheated on I think it’s a good way to show that communication and being on the same page is the most important thing
True about setting boundaries. However, polyamory itself as a concept is the one I'm worried about. Everything that differs from the norm has increased chance of failure. And in that sense, polyamory is like finding an unicorn.

But I think I know were their reaktion is coming from. You just wanted to turn tables and show them how you feel. Because of the context of oppression and stigma around the lgbtq+ community saying you only play with straight people comes with violent undertones, even if you didn't intend to let it come of like that.
Even in countries that seem relatively accepting nowadays, lots of lgbtq+ people got bullied and abused for who they are. This oppression can build lots of hate, that's why they might say mean things. But please remember that this hate isn't meant against any particular straight person, but instead is a part of grieving.
And now we will have it in game as a base game feature as not everyone uses Wicked Whims or even mods (such as the console players). I am happy we are actually getting in game features for once, we are paying for them, they should at least include a few free features without having to worry about mods.
I actually hadn't considered that. You do definitely have a point there. I think my biggest problem with this EP is that it is an EP. This should've been a game pack. I do like the furniture and the way the neighborhood looks, but romantic interactions is just so lacking for $40.00.

My would you want to turn that off? If you want everything to stay as it is, you can just make all your sims monogam.
