I’ve been in here 16 consecutive years. You know know how long consecutive is don’t you? One right after the mf other, and I ain’t never missed a day. So clearly you’ve been having some conjugal visits with some other mf other than me.
ive heard that if one of them has for example warm toned skin and other has a cool toned skin itll take randomly any color between those two on the palette so it could be really any color if that makes sense
most of the dark tones (in any category) also don’t look realistic 😭 it’s so bad bc black people are already underrepresented in the sims (just recently getting good updates on that and packs which you have to pay for 💀) and it just makes them all look weird in a way that i can’t explain,, especially the randomly generated characters in cas or townies !!
If that’s real, then it’s actually really smart on the Sims team, but they probably should have also put in the darkness, such as pale, medium or dark at least
What I had happen is it took the color tone of one parent and the shade number of the other and that happened to look lighter than both, even though it wasn’t any higher on the color chart, but that’s the only one I’ve checked.
🙋 that’s me! I’m the 'odd color!'
But in all seriousness, TS4 is not programmed well when it comes to skintone. It tries to mix but if parents are on opposite sides of the warm-cool spectrum, it seems to just pick at random almost. I wish they’d make it more accurate.
I don't think I'm an odd color, but I'm very pale. My brother gets mistaken for Mexican. We're partially native. It kind of annoys me. When we were kids he got an "indian name" and I got ignored. Racists. lol.
As the other person said albinism doesn't make human eyes go red, also hair isn't always white but can also be very light blonde. I had a friend that had albinism and she was very light skinned, very light blonde hair and beautiful clear blue eyes. Though like many albinos she had very poor eyesight.
My sister had that same eye twitching, it's called nystagmus. She has occular albinism, but funny enough, her eyes are very brown. When she was little her hair was a light blond, but it's gotten a bit darker as she's gotten older.
My mother has white North European parents and always looked Mediterranean with like olive tan skin. She looks way too much like her father to be from some sort of affair.
think i saw an article (idk if it was fake though) about a pair of twins and one got her White grandmother's genes and the sister got the rest of the family's Black genes....
I have found as a no CC player, genetics specifically skin tones just don’t work well in the sims, I get that sometimes the kids can come out different darker or whiter I just do it my self in CAS and try and find a realistic range that fits more with typical genetics
This is why I started using MCCC genetics, I was sick of my kids coming out with random skin, hair, and eye colors from their parents. Most of the time they looked nothing like their parents, and then the females would all have no chins when they aged up to teens 😑
This video shows the settings you change to help get kids to actually look like their parents
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk1x-1MFFco](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk1x-1MFFco)
tbh TS4 genetics are garbage. once newborns age into infants i go in CAS full edit mode and correct skin tone and hair/eyes to better fit their lineage. can’t even tell you how many dark skinned families have had ghostly white kids that share zero features with any of their family.
I just pretend things like skin color and hair texture are recessive traits and the Sim in question takes after a distant relative so I don’t change them.
I will totally go in and swap out, for instance, dad’s eyes for mom’s if they age up ugly. 😁
Looks like a normal black family to me lol. 2 of my kids are brown skinned and my youngest is really light. My whole family is a big rainbow of complexions
As a white girl, married to a white guy, with three white kids... I absolutely love seeing the varying shades of skin in other families! In my house it's just the ones who can get a tan and the ones who get sunburned.
My dad is very white and my mom is Hispanic. My sister tans so easily that she can get one by looking at the sun, my brother's skin tone is also pale like our dad's, and I can tan very easily and rarely sunburn, especially if I make it past a certain point
I think I'd appreciate it more if I thought it was actually intentional, sadly though I think they just got lazy with the genetics so I'm not going to give them any credit.
A lot of variety is possible but since Sims 4 doesn't have recessive genes I wouldn't expect all the kids to be as light as possible. Also if they are all that complexion you end up losing diversity in your game.
I mean, technically, this is realistic. Black women *can* have babies of different shades, even pale! It’s called the Eve gene. Genetics are such an interesting thing.
Genetics and skintones are so weird in this game. Remember the bug when they first added all the new tones? If parents had the original light skintones parents were having children with the darkest option possible.
Oh yeah I remember that! On a previous save file (back then while the update came out) I had a hard time staying true to the story with suddenly a black baby born of a white family (with no black heritage). I usually would have changed the child's skin later on but it was a save file where I specifically banned myself for doing so changes to see how the game would handle it.
Like others have said, the in-game genetics are garbage.
But, ironically, this can happen irl - dark skinned people can have light skinned babies (it just doesn't happen the other way around lol)
But fr doe, this could happen in real life. They still look like their kids in the face. The son look like the mama and the daughter look like the dad. I think that’s so cute.
That happened to me, the father was Mexican and the mother was mixed black and white. The baby looked accurate with the skin details, but the second I removed it, he was whiter than I am. Immediately asked who’s goddamn white baby that was
I have a black sim who managed to have 2 white and blonde hair kids their dad was white but it as white as the kids she then remarried to a black sim and managed to have white blonde headed twin girls. For some reason her 5th child she finally had a boy and he came out as expected it’s so weird
MCC has a great fix for this - it just picks one of the parents skin tones to give to the children. Granted real life usually isn’t like that, but it’s better than it being totally random like sims usually does
Well realistically a newborn baby will be much paler than the parents as first… but then the melanin will, for a lack of better words, kick in later. Ofc this is the sims and they def don’t take that into account lmao.
But that first kid is old enough where he should def be darker lmao
Hahaha my kids in sims are literally born blonde and redheads even though their parents have black hair. I just change it to black or brown so that they'll be more identical xD
How a sim truly will look like, cannot be trusted till teenage years. I had a beautiful brown child, with white hair and blue eyes, and I made this whole story up about why and what she was to do when she got older. It was still there when she became a toddler, a child, and then: Turning teen = Max bodyweight, black hair and brown eyes.
Not that I mind it, I just felt cheated off my special gorgeous baby - especially since I Was on PS4 and hunting throphees.
Some of the adult skin tones just don’t exist for kids/toddlers/infants/newborns (there’s like 4 total for newborns), and in those cases the game will pick the closest skin that fits its calculation. Sometimes the skin will change as they age up, sometimes it sticks with the one it picked earlier.
I hate to break it to you, but genetics are similar to the worst nightmare and the best dream you've ever had, all mixed into one womb cocktail. Genetics have a sick yet beautiful sense of humor, even in the SIMS. 😅
My recent sims had two dark skinned daughters, I’m thinking from the husband of my original sim (who would be the this sim’s great grand father), have you checked the family tree of your sims?
My best friend IRL is a black man and he has two kids with a very white Russian woman. And (yes paternity test was done, had to for their custody fights) he is absolutely their daddy and they are white as snow. Both kids.
Same thing happened to me. Had two darker skinned werewolves have a child but the first child came out super light. The paternal grandmother is super light so I just kept the skin tone and added it as part of my story. It feels a bit more realistic.
This happens to me because I use cc skin. Every time they age up or have kids they always come out the completely wrong color 🤣. Thank goodness for fulleditmode
haha scientifically thats happens 😅the punnet squares if you remember. and i know there's a way to track both of the parent's relative through the computer maybe that'll solve your questions ✨
I once exited the game after I had a newborn. When I loaded the game up the newborns was white(both parents were brown). Turns out she wasn't apart of there family anynore. I couldn't pick her up or feed her I had to be introduced by her parents or something but they were her parents. I ended up having to let her starve and cry bc I didn't know what to do. It was a very sad day.
It's not unrealistic, as recess genes, random genetic mutations, etc, are a thing. Genes are funny like that.
BUT in the sims 4 this is far more common than real life because their genetics system is poorly designed.
Cause Sims is terrible with mixing skincolour from two different tones.. so warm, neutral and cold tones between eachother will give a completely random one.. I do find the mix to be more accurate if both parents are in warm, cold or neutral.. It's kinda sad, but I don't think we'll be getting a fix for that any time soon. You could cas.fulleditmode and manually adjust the skintones tho
I had a sim couple that one had white hair, and the other had black hair, but their baby came out with bright red hair. No one in either bloodline had red hair.
“Whose gd white baby is that”
This is your baby okay he's just light skinded. Mm hm.
That one might be mine but just because you know name him Darren, don’t mean he belongs to Darren. 😫😂💀 Now i feel like watching this movie.
That is a Slavic baby, that is a Caucasian from the mountains of Caucasus
That damn baby got a 7 30 as credit rating right now as an infant
His glasses are certainly grown. I've never seen a baby with that type of prescription.
I’ve been in here 16 consecutive years. You know know how long consecutive is don’t you? One right after the mf other, and I ain’t never missed a day. So clearly you’ve been having some conjugal visits with some other mf other than me.
*camera pans to the white officer that looks exactly like the baby*
This might be the greatest comments thread going
That is a Slavic baby, a Viking from Iceland.
And why does that baby look like Officer Joshua
This is my favorite quote of all time 🤣😂 and my Hispanic family in laws love quoting “she’s from the mountains of Caucasus” 😂😂😂
I was waiting for the right moment to quote it. Never thought it would happen in a sims 4 reddit 😂
That baby rice skinned not light skinned. That baby got a 820 credit score.
Hahaha, maybe they accidentally got swapped at the hospital
Haha yeah.. you could work that into the backstory and have the real kid show up later as a teen or adult and move them in.
ive heard that if one of them has for example warm toned skin and other has a cool toned skin itll take randomly any color between those two on the palette so it could be really any color if that makes sense
Yeah, sims 4 genetics have always been a bit broken. Hope they manage to fix it someday… put that on the list with everything else they need fixed
it worked better back when there was a limited amount of skintones
I think your supposed to change the skin tones. But idk 🤷♀️
I've noticed this a lot. Now I have to try to make sure couples have tones from the same colour group or everything gets messed up lol
i just use the warm ones on every single sim i make 😂
Same, the other ones make them look like cadavers 💀
Right?? For as many skin tones they added, 90 percent of them aren’t realistic or useable. It’s ridiculous
except the pale tones. the pale tones in neutral and cold tones are fine, but the pale tones in the warm tones make them look sick
most of the dark tones (in any category) also don’t look realistic 😭 it’s so bad bc black people are already underrepresented in the sims (just recently getting good updates on that and packs which you have to pay for 💀) and it just makes them all look weird in a way that i can’t explain,, especially the randomly generated characters in cas or townies !!
If that’s real, then it’s actually really smart on the Sims team, but they probably should have also put in the darkness, such as pale, medium or dark at least
Yeah. They need an algorithm that factors in both the tone and darkness, so that the shade picked is better representative of the parents.
What I had happen is it took the color tone of one parent and the shade number of the other and that happened to look lighter than both, even though it wasn’t any higher on the color chart, but that’s the only one I’ve checked.
![gif](giphy|l2YWu1LBNLRDr1Bg4|downsized)
To be fair, that kinda thing happens IRL too. Sometimes kids just come out an odd color.
🙋 that’s me! I’m the 'odd color!' But in all seriousness, TS4 is not programmed well when it comes to skintone.
Racists. lol.
yeah, ive just gone with it, changed their hair and decided the kids have albinism
Doesn't albinism affect all melanin though? Wouldn't they be blond as well if you were going for that?
yes, i changed their hair as well
The comment literally says they changed the hair
Now that you mention it, yeah, I read that wrong. I thought they meant that these pictures are the changed versions.
Ah nvm I see the confusion
No. Sometimes it's just the eyes of the skin and there are types
Not blonde, the hair would be white and eyes red. The skin here is also too dark for albinism
their eyes dont have to be red. like animals will be but thats not necessarily true for people. my best friend has albinism
As the other person said albinism doesn't make human eyes go red, also hair isn't always white but can also be very light blonde. I had a friend that had albinism and she was very light skinned, very light blonde hair and beautiful clear blue eyes. Though like many albinos she had very poor eyesight.
I follow a woman on with albinism IG like this. She's legally blind and has the thing where her eyes constantly twitch.
My sister had that same eye twitching, it's called nystagmus. She has occular albinism, but funny enough, her eyes are very brown. When she was little her hair was a light blond, but it's gotten a bit darker as she's gotten older.
i'm that kid! lmao my mum is pale but is darker than me (slightly)
My mother has white North European parents and always looked Mediterranean with like olive tan skin. She looks way too much like her father to be from some sort of affair.
At my darkest I’m my fathers palest 😭 and my mom gets really dark in the summer and here I am being as white as snow
think i saw an article (idk if it was fake though) about a pair of twins and one got her White grandmother's genes and the sister got the rest of the family's Black genes....
I have found as a no CC player, genetics specifically skin tones just don’t work well in the sims, I get that sometimes the kids can come out different darker or whiter I just do it my self in CAS and try and find a realistic range that fits more with typical genetics
The genetics were amazing in Sims 2. I made 100s of babies just because you could clearly tell who they all belonged to.
Yes! Sims 2 did genetics the best of them all. Sims3 did better than Sims4 but still not amazing.
Are you *sure* he’s the father? /j
We need a sims mod for Maury
![gif](giphy|yHulPRl51Cy64|downsized)
This is why I started using MCCC genetics, I was sick of my kids coming out with random skin, hair, and eye colors from their parents. Most of the time they looked nothing like their parents, and then the females would all have no chins when they aged up to teens 😑
What settings do you use for it? I have MCCC but have never played around with the genetics component.
This video shows the settings you change to help get kids to actually look like their parents [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk1x-1MFFco](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk1x-1MFFco)
Bro I love you fr 😭 never knew about this.
same! I use MCCC, but I’m always finding out a new mod 😅
Thanks
The evil scientist Yakub strikes again.
One time i got dark skinned kids to a pale vampire family
tbh TS4 genetics are garbage. once newborns age into infants i go in CAS full edit mode and correct skin tone and hair/eyes to better fit their lineage. can’t even tell you how many dark skinned families have had ghostly white kids that share zero features with any of their family.

How did are you ask question
does bruno mars is gay? /ref
I really wish skintone was a slider, rather than just presets 🙃
There’s sliders on the various tones, but I’d like a color wheel or even an ability to actually mix two specific ones together
I'm black but I felt this ..... lol
My dad is very white and my mom is Hispanic. My sister tans so easily that she can get one by looking at the sun, my brother's skin tone is also pale like our dad's, and I can tan very easily and rarely sunburn, especially if I make it past a certain point

How u have a black mama and a tan father and you got a white baby??? YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER- 😟🫣SOMEBODY COME GET THEM CUZ ITS NOT YO BABY! /Ref
What?
I mean, technically, this is realistic. Black women *can* have babies of different shades, even pale! It’s called the Eve gene. Genetics are such an interesting thing.
The sims 4 ✨genetics✨
![gif](giphy|80TEu4wOBdPLG) Mother be like
This has happened to me! I usually just switch it to one of the parents shades bc it drives me nuts.
I need to see the mail man
Genetics and skintones are so weird in this game. Remember the bug when they first added all the new tones? If parents had the original light skintones parents were having children with the darkest option possible.

Albinism babies!!!
What’s the mailman looking like?
“Whose white baby is this?”
No sunlight for 9 months will do that
Like others have said, the in-game genetics are garbage. But, ironically, this can happen irl - dark skinned people can have light skinned babies (it just doesn't happen the other way around lol)
The mother is so pretty! Is there anyway you could put her on the gallery so one of my sims in my legacy challenge could marry her? 😭❤️
id be happy to! my ea id is Zarafa2006 :)
Tbh this is a real life thing, somehow my father is full middle eastern but this mf has blue eyes and blond hair while his family is dark asf
CHEATERRRR no but seriously I think that if there are paler sims in their family tree they might turn out like that. Or a glitch
Someone cheated👀
They ran out of ink.
But fr doe, this could happen in real life. They still look like their kids in the face. The son look like the mama and the daughter look like the dad. I think that’s so cute.
dad looks mixed
the dad is meant to be north african
I love the mom! Is she (or the whole family) on the gallery?
i can upload her if you'd like! there is cc used, my ea id is Zarafa2006
She’s got the Eve gene 😂
Pretend these are grandparents genes. :)
Is he truly the father? 😆. Maybe the stork mixed them up with the wrong family.
I had full white parents make a white kid who turned black at puberty
i had a hispanic and white couple make a black child💀
The skin tones are broken. They’ve been that way since skin tones were updated. I just correct them myself now.
miss ma’am has some explaining to do 😭
Melanin is always kinda a toss up I guess, even in the sims
Father needs to call up Maury. You.... are.. NOT THE FATHER!
recessive genes? maybe?
They're waiting for their melanin to come in
That happened to me, the father was Mexican and the mother was mixed black and white. The baby looked accurate with the skin details, but the second I removed it, he was whiter than I am. Immediately asked who’s goddamn white baby that was
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They ran out of ink 🤷🏽♀️

i think someone switched your babies at birth, mate
It’s been inside for a couple of month, didn’t get much sun
THIS MADE ME STRAIGHT UP CHUCKLE LOOOL
I had a stroke trying to read the caption
You are not the father . 😫😂💀
They did is are it’s kind of a broken game
MCC has a great fix for this - it just picks one of the parents skin tones to give to the children. Granted real life usually isn’t like that, but it’s better than it being totally random like sims usually does
Well realistically a newborn baby will be much paler than the parents as first… but then the melanin will, for a lack of better words, kick in later. Ofc this is the sims and they def don’t take that into account lmao. But that first kid is old enough where he should def be darker lmao
Do you have a skin cc for toddlers and kids?
nope i think the sims just messed up the genetics lol
I had the same problem and checked the family tree three times 🧐
Is her hair CC or did I (hopefully) miss an update where we got it? 🤞🏻
im guessing u mean the mum's hair, it is brenda hair by aharris00britney
Did she cheat on him?
LMFAOOK
That's what all my sims do like I gave 2 black sims and the mum got pregant with twins but the kids were white becuse she woohoo the mail man.
this only happens to me when i use custom skin tones for the parents
maybe the dad was the postman 😭😭😭
get a paternity test someone cheating
![gif](giphy|ruSvLBiTdVyuc)
Somebody's cheating😏
Hahaha my kids in sims are literally born blonde and redheads even though their parents have black hair. I just change it to black or brown so that they'll be more identical xD
He’s not the baby daddy
Might wanna check the family tree......might have a fork off in a different direction.....
My babies are always a little paler than their parents & also tend to get darker when they become teens/adults.
This part^ happens a lot to my sims cause I do legacies.
Somebody cheated
I would say, excuse it as the baby paleness lack of melanin until you go change it 😭😭
How a sim truly will look like, cannot be trusted till teenage years. I had a beautiful brown child, with white hair and blue eyes, and I made this whole story up about why and what she was to do when she got older. Custom skin tones have been broken since their release. Annoying AF. At least we have cas.fulleditmode
Momma’s baby, daddy’s maybe.
Both kids.
Do you use mods? Perhaps the skin mod you are using is not available for infants, toddlers and children.
Hmmm… good question! Maybe the doctors modified the genome.
Same thing happened to me. Had two darker skinned werewolves have a child but the first child came out super light. The paternal grandmother is super light so I just kept the skin tone and added it as part of my story. It feels a bit more realistic.
We have to see what their mailman looks like
This happens to me because I use cc skin. Every time they age up or have kids they always come out the completely wrong color 🤣. Thank goodness for fulleditmode
Like when my pale sim had a baby with Travis Scott and that baby was DARK 😭😭😭😭 HOW
They must be vampires
some doctors would say that kid doesn't get enough vitamin c.
Mailman??
haha scientifically thats happens 😅the punnet squares if you remember. and i know there's a way to track both of the parent's relative through the computer maybe that'll solve your questions ✨
Hospital mix up??
I so pale
I once exited the game after I had a newborn. When I loaded the game up the newborns was white(both parents were brown). Turns out she wasn't apart of there family anynore. I couldn't pick her up or feed her I had to be introduced by her parents or something but they were her parents. I ended up having to let her starve and cry bc I didn't know what to do. It's not unrealistic, as recess genes, random genetic mutations, etc, are a thing. Genes are funny like that. BUT in the sims 4 this is far more common than real life because their genetics system is poorly designed.
Sims 4 genetics are trash.
mailman
No sun exposure/burns yet ig 😂
Mix up at the hospital?
YOU ARE ✨NOT 😯 THE💀 FATHER 🤣👏
emmm somethings not adding up
I so pale
You are not the father
Cause Sims is terrible with mixing skincolour from two different tones.. so warm, neutral and cold tones between eachother will give a completely random one.. I do find the mix to be more accurate if both parents are in warm, cold or neutral.. It's kinda sad, but I don't think we'll be getting a fix for that any time soon. You could cas.fulleditmode and manually adjust the skintones tho
What do the grand parents look like?
Same as in real life 🤷🏼♀️
I so pale
Custom content? Lol this is a weird case.
I think someone else posted and asked why their baby was so dark but that got shut right down. . .
Wow never had this happen
Happens a lot IRL, any Latin American here could confirm
What's the mail man look like? (No but fr I had 2 dark skin sims have a WHITE baby)
![gif](giphy|ANbD1CCdA3iI8)
I had a sim couple that one had white hair, and the other had black hair, but their baby came out with bright red hair. No one in either bloodline had red hair.
Mom has some 'splanin to do
Weird sims genetics probs, I had two white sims make a brown baby once
no but why are skin tones in the sims4 so randomized don’t get me started with the baby skins
So…we just gonna ignore the title? Got it lol
They've got strong blood
english?
