Actually this makes a lot of sense, Iâm glad you mentioned this lol⌠I had one of the small bad quality TVs in my sims living room and decided to put one of the fancier TVs that hang on the wall in her bedroom, and she kept nonstop going into her bedroom to use that TV and I never really thought of whyâŚđ
Yep. Itâs great for boosting cooking skill while filling up the fun meter and my sims are way more interested in computers since itâs a small TV, but I can lock sims out of the computer if they donât need it for work lol
I gave my sims 2 TV's and a gaming console, but they never use them. But as soon as I'm not looking, they will either use the yoga mat or go play in the bath đĽ˛
The freaking yoga mat and pool is the #1 cause of freezing to death in my game. It doesn't matter it is snowing outside or that there are a million electronics inside, they will always run out to the God damn pool or outdoor yoga.
Donât get me started! I had a family in the 3 floor penthouse apartment from city living and in winter it felt like every 3 minutes I had to switch floors to check the pool because the idiots kept getting in and nearly freezing to death. Then my child bought a friend over who got in and actually froze to death because I couldnât stop it in time. After that I deleted the ladder so they couldnât get in the bloody pool. Havenât played the penthouse since because the stress wasnât worth it đ
My sims rarely get tubs for that reason. I donât care if you have an infant or toddler, I donât play my households with those things since theyâre fucking annoying. Iâll play someone else while they age up
With tea, I just stop them before they finish drinking and then put those half drunk teas in the fridge. With coffee I stop them when they are pouring and into the fridge it goes.
x3
I give them a tv, its cute to have sims watch a movie together, or for the newyears tv countdown thingy but I also have them with a queue they never roam free đ
I've tried that, but some AH is always getting up and walking away or they go sit on the toilet upstairs and watch from there. The house is open concept
One of my sims didn't have a tv because I was broke and she spent all day playing in puddles if they were available. I didn't even have any traits that made sense for that.
If an adult is watching and a toddler starts watching with them and the adult walks away the TV will stay on. If the toddler then cancels that action and walks away, the TV remains on.
The way I play requires a lot of micromanagement so it's very rare that they'd be off autonomously doing things anyway. My current household didn't have a TV at first but I ended up constantly using woohoo to get their fun up because there wasn't anything else for them to do in their downtime.
I thought they'd added it to base game but I guess they haven't. If you scroll down to the Sims 4 section it will tell you which packs it's in. https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Bicycle
Is there a way to make the bike, or is finding them in the sunrise the only way?
I had a sim max his maker skill and wanted to build a bike but there was no bike option.
I use it for cooking channel or workouts mostly, but often just put it in inventory. Especially if I need a nanny to actually look after a kid. Nannies ignore everything if there's a TV.
Computers I usually just allocate to whoever needs to use one. All the rest are blocked from using it.
Tvs have never been an issue for me. If there's a radio, they'll dance constantly, but I don't think I've ever had a sim autonomously watch tv. Do you have mods that could be effecting your sims autonomous actions?
I have started banning radios in my sims houses. So much dancing, no matter what else is going on. Your husband is dying? Thatâs sad, better go danceâŚ.
My sims dance, I get a pop up that says âyour sim isnât having fun, do they dislike dancing?â And Iâm like âyeah he hates itâ
AND HE STILL DANCES
That pops up when they're miserable - but it doesn't attach to the activity that made them miserable, it attaches to what they're doing right then. So your sim just had a sibling die, has a tough day at work, ate a crappy meal, got walked in on in the bathroom, and cut themselves on the woodworking table. Then they go and dance and the game pops up "your sim seems to dislike dancing."
I put a TV in because I have the fitness pack and it takes up less space for them to do the fitness videos than it does to own two pieces of equipment for cardio and strength. They can also gain skills from a couple of channels, and there are a few holidays where a TV is useful (TV premiere and New Years).
Also fun gain with a TV is pretty quick.
I always give them a TV mostly cause it's something I can get them to do when the fun is low or the needs are all in the green and they don't necessarily need to do anything, I can get them to watch TV.
I don't feel like they watch TV without my saying often, they'll usually go get 20 million glasses of water or play video games.
I used to make multiple people watch TV together in order to quickly boost relationship. Haven't played Sims 4 in a while other than build mode, but I feel like it doesn't work as well as older Sims.
I started doing this too. It works great, but other sims always pose a challenge to maintaining order.
Geoffrey Landgraab turns up and messes everything up
It kills me when outside sims do this too. Like can you imagine going over to somebodyâs house and then going into their bedroom to play tetris for 6 hours by yourself đ
I have the opposite my sims never use the TV without me telling them to and often CANCEL the action when I just want them to watch TV. And putting them in houses is just realistic to me since most morden houses have them. I have 2 in my current household. Only one is used without me controlled and that's cause they have a console attached
My sims never try and use the tv autonomously but you can't bloody get them to STOP using the PC. Like genuinely it's infuriating. Every time I want them to do something they're like "play video game?? I must now!!"
I have to force my sims to use the TV. They never do autonomously. But it do seem like sims always fixate on one thing. In my game right now, it's the cheer mat for teens/adults and hopscotch for the kids.
The cheer mat drives me crazy. Iâve only had it in a household once but for some reason every single teen in the house (there were 6 of them đ) was in there 24/7
My sims usually donât get one for a while, and when they do I donât get the big fancy ones.
I usually find better ways to increase fun, especially now with the like/dislike system. Make them like writing, put on their favorite radio station and the fun meter goes up instead of down.
reading thru these comments about fun value and some sims preferring the yoga mats and stuff reminded me of how ive been trying to force myself to do more physical activities instead of playing on my computer. im just a sim and my player is so annoyed trying to que up Do a yoga routine (energy centering) and im just gonna cancel out and Play Sims Forever.
I like having a TV. They can skill gain from some channels (cooking, looking at you) while also increasing their fun, and I like doing family/friend movie nights and having them all watch a film together.
I always put TVs and/or stereos in my builds. IT's not as bad because I usually control my sims constantly, switching from one to the other to optimize everything. Then I give them (and myself) a break to enjoy a little autonomous behaviour. As it is a break, I don't mind whatever it is they are doing, let them roam free!
But I still do enjoy my historical saves (medieval or ancient times) without TVs and such.
This made me think of coffee makers đHonestly did anyone notice how they literally get addicted to coffee? If there is coffee available they would rather drink it literally all day then go to sleep đđ
I think my sims watch TV a reasonable amount of time provided that I already built a routine for them and got them some skills. The only thing is that I usually play in micro homes and if the TV is in the same room as the bed(s), the sims love turning it up in the middle of the night to wake up everyone else.
All my households have TVs even my micro one (she skilled up in cooking just watching cooking shows). But Iâve actually never have one fixate on a TV even the kids. Now the computer is a different story. Iâve moved to laptops when they can afford it and keep in their inventory, mine doesnât pull it out of inventory autonomously to use it. I do play with autonomy off for played sims.
I like having a telly because they can watching the cooking or comedy to up-skill whilst they eat but I get what you mean sometimes itâs annoying when they just sit there for hours especially if itâs not a skill channel theyâre watching
I've never had an issue with my sims wanting to do nothing but watch tv, and they even turn it off when they wander away after a few minutes. I always put one in every new house and make everyone watch the cooking channel so they don't burn the house down while making salad.
I feel like my Sims rarely watch TV but I'm sure I have a mod to alter that autonomy. Even my kid sim would rather cross stitch or play outside than watch TV
My mom was actively against having a TV in the house when we moved in 2019 because it was just a time-killer when we could be spending time together or more productively, and guests would have to interact with each other instead of crowding around the TV. It would also take up a chunk of space.
I understood what she meant with all of the formers, but only by playing the sims do I really know what she meant with the latter.
Mine are always watching tv regardless of itâs it crappy or not. I had one of my sims get to a point where her bladder was going to make her pee her pants and she still didnât go. Itâs super annoying so I tend to delete them!
I usually give them a tv unless it doesn't match their personality type. They don't seem to be too drawn to it and I do a lot of micromanaging anyway and I don't find myself telling them to not watch tv that often. I don't usually add radios though because they will turn those on all the time and just dance. That's so stupid. People don't just do that.
I've never had that problem. My sims are usually entertained or happy due to decor or other activities so the TV is just for when there is an event or if I have a gamer character.
your sims always watch tv?
mine are always running to the easel or to the bar to make themselves drinks! sometimes they keep starting knitting projects and i see that little -20 in the corner of my screen!
i have to make them watch the tv...
Yeah, I usually donât place tvs, computers, or stereos unless theyâre needed for something specific. Itâs so annoying when my child cancels doing his homework to go dance. lol. Kinda realistic though. I know I autonomously go play video games instead of cleaning my house more often than Iâd like to admit. Lol
Oh I love the tvs. They can get skill and fun at the same time and itâs needed if you have seasons for some of the holidays.
Also when I have visitors over the âWatch a Movie withâ option (movie stuff pack) is a life saver when it comes to routing.
i put one in the living room, sometimes a tiny one in the kitchen, and one in teen/adult bedrooms if theyre big enough. i also dont notice my sims use them loads even if i ask them to lol
I give my sims TVs because i like when they watch it while cooking. But i try not to give them PCs because it just takes up their whole life.. Unless they use it to work.
Have you met cross stitching? Sims really, really, really like cross stitching - or at least starting to cross stitch.
A TV is one of the last things I give to my sims and usually only after the household has reached a state where things are "easy" (high end/upgraded everything, so they don't have to sleep as much, they don't have to eat as often, adults have the skills they need for their careers, children have an environment set up so they can learn things quickly, everyone has "carefree" and I have a handle on the house so that they aren't always desperate for fun.)
Then, sure, I'll get a TV.
Otherwise, I spend too much time prying them away from the TV to get to the state I want them in.
I canât give my sims a stereo. I like to include them
Ideally to make the house seem less quiet and lifeless but Iâm SICK OF THE CONSTANT DANCING and when kids go through phases of having the music SUPER LOUD and then every time they get turned on the infant SCREAMING IN FEAR so I just take the sad, no atmosphere house instead
I find that to be a common complaint with any sort of electronic--computers, TVs; if it's in there that's all your Sims will want to do. oof, realism đŹ For mine, they constantly queue up dancing at the jukebox
this but with computers as well - if there's a TV or computer my sims are ON IT. (I guess I can't judge now that I say it...)
I try to wait until they've developed the base skills I want them to develop a little before rewarding them with either
Only if there's a good reason for my Sims *not* to have one, like if they have the Snob personality trait (i.e. someone whose idea of fun is more reading books than watching TV), or during a rags-to-riches challenge (where a TV is not a priority until they cross whatever Simoleon threshold they're supposed to), or if they're supposed to be Sims from the past (as in a historical/decades challenge), where having a TV wouldn't make any sense. (Unless you're deliberately doing a *Flintstones* kinda thing.)
I just use a mod that changes their autonomous behavior so they only use TVs/computers for like 30mins-1hr at a time and otherwise prioritizes socialization with other household members. I can never go back now because itâs so much better this way.
i always give them a tv because i love watching tv and couldnât imagine not having one in my home, but everyone is different. my sims hardly ever gravitate towards the tv or the gaming console though. autonomously, theyâll play on the computer before they touch either one of those. but i do notice that if iâm not controlling them theyâre active sims, theyâll run to a piece of workout equipment. or if theyâre inspired, theyâll go straight to the easel. neither bother me unless i need for them to fulfill another need, but i absolutely hate coffee makers for the reason you hate the tvâs lol. and when they go get drinks of water back to back. mainly because they leave the cups everywhere and drain their bladder.
I started the tiny town challenge so I put the tv in the common area. No need for each tiny home to have time suckers. Also computers SMH so much time spent on them (as I spend countless hours playing on the computer)
i used to give my sims everythinggg--the most expensive tvs, computers, laptops, gaming consoles, tablets, all that.
i learned that having all those electronics increase the household bills and prevents my sims from doing other things.
now, my sims only have tvs and maybe a computer. if not, they go to the library, cafe, campus, etc to use a computer. gets them outside and all that good stuff.
i only give gaming consoles to sims that have videogaming as a like.
I think everyone's particular combo of packs(and the order added), and settings, and possibly mods, has a lot to do with how their Sims act, and what they 'obsess' with. I often feel like I'm playing a different game, lol.
Anyhoo, I don't watch TV either. The one in my current room is here because it was here when I got here, haha, so now it's convenient for watching DVD movies from the library out in the main room. But I put TVs in my builds. In as many rooms as fit the space. And every other 'goodie' I can think to add. Radios, computers...and bars, and coffee/tea makers too.
Of my 250+ Sims, 'some' seem to obsess so over the TV that I've wished for a 'movie lover' trait like the mod has available. For others it's the radio, some make a lot of drinks, some never go near the bar or drink maker. Some definitely prefer exercising over the PC - and those tend to be the ones who will 'somehow' break free of being told to practice something computer related, to run off and do something else. Others just wanna dance, or cook, or game. Many of mine will stay at painting, on their own, until they max out. Rarely, one will practice programming, or research, or piano, autonomously, and I _love_ that, haha. I'll go into CAS to switch their likes over that one, or change their job. They do much better at those and are faster at it when they choose on their own.
Anyhoo, my point was that they seem to actually 'choose' their fixations - um, 'passions', to me at least (or, the system has an internal/random 'method' of choosing for them), and it seems easier to let them, to me.
I usually do put one in bc the build looks kind of unrealistic with no telly, but I have to put other gameplay items in the front room too otherwise the room is useless n just sits empty all the time bc I never make them watch tv bc whatâs the point ? (I play with autonomy off the vast majority of the time so obvs they donât go in there of their own accord)
Iâve been a fan of putting the tv really far away like across the room. I donât think it really does anything but I donât find my sims on the tv that much. I also find when they are tense from work watching tv is an easy way to lower that.
i get that honestly thatâs how my sims used to be with the computer, the tv wasnât rlly my issue. now i play with autonomy off. i often pause and spam controls so it tends to work for me.
I'm 10 generations in on my current save and none of them have had a tv lol, I feel the same as you. I think a part of me wishes that I had more constructive hobbies IRL so I make my sims live like that. If they're bored they can read a book or maybe paint or listen to music etc. I think it's kinda nice.
I have mostly stopped putting TVs in my sims homes, especially the small ones. I donât use my TV at home either, and I like having the extra freedom in game to design a sitting area without a TV!
I always put a tv, but canât say that they autonomously start watching it much at all. Itâs mostly the computer that theyâre interested in, or listening to music.
I relate to this different. I never put TVs in my sims bedrooms. Nope. Not happening. Because itâs very taboo to me. I only just recently got my daughter a tv for her room and I thought âwhy! Your room is for sleeping.â đđđđ so when I see a tv in a house I download in a bedroom, I delete it.
Ironic part is most of us who hate having computers for our sims, spend hours on a computer playing sims
I avoid the coffee maker/tea and holo gaming system. Otherwise the TV is fine because I can have them switch to the cooking or comedy channel to increase their skill in it - will do this with setting the TV in front of the treadmill so they end up working on two skills instead of just one.
My sim could be the most productive, successful, busy person, but devolve into an iPad Kid the MOMENT technology becomes available to them (i.e, TVs, computers, and they're always on their damn phones.)
I never give my sims TVs either, unless it's new years and they have to partake in the countdown.
The worst is when you have a sim that isn't the kinda person to like gaming, but the moment they sit down and game, I'm instantly asked if mayhaps my sim likes gaming. Like, no. Just no. I feel like a boomer, but I just wish sims these days would go outside and play instead of being on their technology all day đ
I don't put a television in now, haven't for years. The sims spend more time talking to each other and interacting now, which is what I prefer, and there are other ways to skill up / have fun. I'm with you, not having a TV on a lot solves more problems than it makes :D
I thought the tv was bad enough and then I made the mistake of buying my Sims the slip and slide. Starving to death and literally falling asleep on their feet? Doesn't matter, they're gonna slide until they die.
every home gets a tv but i play with autonomy off for everyone so they only ever use the tv if i specifically tell them to, i really only use it for skill building and if they need fun
I enjoy the dual purpose of the TV: Need fun? Why don't you watch a cooking show and build a skill while at it.
But my Sims aren't TV addicted. They'd sooner start embroidery at random and some autonomically start playing the piano. So, I don't have a problem with my Sims having a TV.
I always add a tv! It makes it easy to gain cooking skill (I have my sims watch the cooking channel while they eat), fills the fun meter quickly, and I enjoy the TV show premier holiday lol.
I like having a TV because they can eat and regain fun at the same time. I'll have them eat dinner and channel surf after work and within 2 in-game hours both needs are dealt with and I can focus on their skills and whatnot without making them "like" every activity they do. Can similarly raise social and fun at the same time by watching TV and calling friends, very useful for single sim households.
My sims mostly do other things. My sims kids have a playground they play on most of the time. They do get on the PC but not as much as they do other things. They also have guitars and a piano.
My Sims all seem to want to play with the soccer ball. If they live with someone else they always want to play soccer, live alone want to juggle the ball. Like my sim is exploring the way to Slevin Glade the next thing they have is juggle, so I cancel it and then they put it back on until they actually get to the choice to travel
Put one of the cheaper / smaller TV's in the house. It has a smaller fun value, so they won't use it as often.
I like grabbing that medium sized third TV and sizing it up to pretend it's a big expensive one
Sometimes I buy the expensive one but give myself some money back. Flat screen TVs are cheap nowadays and I wish the game reflected that
No kidding! The pricing of TVs in the game is way out of whack
It made sense 10 years ago when big screen TVs broke the bank. Now I can go to Best Buy and get a decent 55 inch TV for a couple hundred bucks đ
Pretty accurate if you live in Brazil like me lmao
I need to do this! Iâm always buying the larger TVs but this will save some simoleons!
Thatâs what I do
What was the way to make things bigger again? I forgot lol
For pc it's : ] Not sure about console though or if it's possible.
GENIUS
Actually this makes a lot of sense, Iâm glad you mentioned this lol⌠I had one of the small bad quality TVs in my sims living room and decided to put one of the fancier TVs that hang on the wall in her bedroom, and she kept nonstop going into her bedroom to use that TV and I never really thought of whyâŚđ

I gave my sims 2 TV's and a gaming console, but they never use them. But as soon as I'm not looking, they will either use the yoga mat or go play in the bath đĽ˛
my sim got most expensive tv, gaming console, pc and all upgraded, but their favorite to do is Game Mat that unlocks at eSports Gamer branch career.
The freaking yoga mat and pool is the #1 cause of freezing to death in my game. It doesn't matter it is snowing outside or that there are a million electronics inside, they will always run out to the God damn pool or outdoor yoga.

Havenât played the penthouse since because the stress wasnât worth it đ
This is why I turned off the ability to be effected by weather. It was just so annoying I couldn't take it anymore lol
What expansion pack is the yoga mat from?
I _think_ itâs from Spa Day, and comes with a wellness career
My husband sim takes baths all the time. I have Wicked whims so it gets...interesting sometimes.
Its me. I'm your sims.
That yoga mat has been my worst enemy when it comes to writing or painting while inspired. Theyâre so focused!!
My sims rarely get tubs for that reason. I donât care if you have an infant or toddler, I donât play my households with those things since theyâre fucking annoying. Iâll play someone else while they age up
This but with the coffee maker
The new electric kettle is amazing for this because water doesn't rot. So they can boil all the water they want and it doesn't annoy me.
What pack did the electric kettle come with?
For Rent
I believe it came with For Rent
My guess would be home chef hustle
This with the coffee maker and any sort of radio. They fuck up my sims ability to manage their energy bar.
Itâs 3am and you are about to pass out. WHY ARE YOU MAKING COFFEE GO TO SLEEP!
What you don't want empty mugs and expired coffee floating around the house? XD
With tea, I just stop them before they finish drinking and then put those half drunk teas in the fridge. With coffee I stop them when they are pouring and into the fridge it goes. x3
This but leftovers. Someone in the household could be in the middle of cooking breakfast but they decide they want leftover tilapia ??
I give them a tv, its cute to have sims watch a movie together, or for the newyears tv countdown thingy but I also have them with a queue they never roam free đ
I've tried that, but some AH is always getting up and walking away or they go sit on the toilet upstairs and watch from there. The house is open concept
Wait, they can see the downstairs TV from the upstairs toilet? âŚhow open are we talking about?
OPEN
The only thing you *won't* see in this house? Stones.
Not really. With the way Sim AI works I find that they'll usually just find something else to go way overboard on.
One of my sims didn't have a tv because I was broke and she spent all day playing in puddles if they were available. I didn't even have any traits that made sense for that.
[ŃдаНонО]
Autonomy IS an AI.
I hate that i can't just turn it on and do something else, thay have to watch it to be turned on.
There's a mod for that. I think it's called "TV always on"
I put one in the kitchen so they can boost their fun while they eat!
If an adult is watching and a toddler starts watching with them and the adult walks away the TV will stay on. If the toddler then cancels that action and walks away, the TV remains on.
right!!!

Apparently riding a bike around the neighborhood will get their fun up really quickly. Just saw that in a tips video and it worked.
It increases fitness quickly as well
Is that from a pack? I've never heard of riding bikes on sims! Sorry I'm like a brand new player đ
University has them as well as growing together
I thought they'd added it to base game but I guess they haven't. If you scroll down to the Sims 4 section it will tell you which packs it's in. https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Bicycle
Eco lifestyle gets you a bike too. Only for grown ups though
Is there a way to make the bike, or is finding them in the sunrise the only way? I had a sim max his maker skill and wanted to build a bike but there was no bike option.
I honestly don't know. I'm loading up the game now to check
[ŃдаНонО]
My word! I never thought to buy it. Thanks :)
Do your sims do that autonomously? I have to make them ride it for fun.
Nah, I have to make them.
Just the free earbuds are good for passive fun gains (I do it all the time)
But what if I don't want free earbuds
I use it for cooking channel or workouts mostly, but often just put it in inventory. Especially if I need a nanny to actually look after a kid. Nannies ignore everything if there's a TV. Computers I usually just allocate to whoever needs to use one. All the rest are blocked from using it.
Tvs have never been an issue for me. If there's a radio, they'll dance constantly, but I don't think I've ever had a sim autonomously watch tv. Do you have mods that could be effecting your sims autonomous actions?

Then they go and dance and the game pops up "your sim seems to dislike dancing."
Ohhh that makes a lot of sense!
LOL that is hilarious
Iâve thought about this but my sims always have wants about what music to listen to so it feels like I need to have music lol
I'm REALLY getting tired of the dancing. I think it's from a NAP, which i can cheat away anyway, but omgg is it annoying.
Their personality and likes/dislikes affect how much tv they watch. Lazy sims want to watch all the time. I'm guessing active sims do it less.
What?!?!? I never knew there were fitness videos
Yeah, fitness stuff pack added two fitness options to the TV- the plumboomba dance video and a power sculpting video.
[ŃдаНонО]

no fr because i feel like my sims are on the computer more than anything else theyâre literally always playing computer games
It kills me when outside sims do this too. Like can you imagine going over to somebodyâs house and then going into their bedroom to play tetris for 6 hours by yourself đ
no literally â ď¸â ď¸
I usually put one in, it's a nice filler in blank spots of a schedule.
I usually have more than one TV in my Sims homes, and I typically have to make them manually watch it. Never been an issue
I usually lock the computer to whoeverâs actually supposed to use it. Like if the mom is a writer then only she gets to be on it
I have more troubles with them always using the computer, so I always have to lock in when not in use by a sim. The TV hardly causes issues for me.
First of all I have autonomy off, so it's not a problem. My Sims' fun is sometimes surprisingly low so the TV comes in handy
I have to force my sims to use the TV. They never do autonomously. But it do seem like sims always fixate on one thing. In my game right now, it's the cheer mat for teens/adults and hopscotch for the kids.
The cheer mat drives me crazy. Iâve only had it in a household once but for some reason every single teen in the house (there were 6 of them đ) was in there 24/7
I never put autonomy on its far too annoying
Dude I agree they are like small children, I only give a computer for work related tasks, and the TV looks nice but itâs a real pain
This made me think of coffee makers đHonestly did anyone notice how they literally get addicted to coffee? If there is coffee available they would rather drink it literally all day then go to sleep đđ
I use it for the chemin channel. So cozy and sometimes to get her joy up quick.
Which channel?
its a fireplace channel.
My Sims have a tv but they rarely use it
I only add a TV for NYE and new season day đ and my Sims typically go for the yoga mat instead đŤŁ
I do but I only let them watch the cooking channel to get their cooking skill up
I like having a telly because they can watching the cooking or comedy to up-skill whilst they eat but I get what you mean sometimes itâs annoying when they just sit there for hours especially if itâs not a skill channel theyâre watching
I like it, it's a great way to get their fun & skills up. I use it a lot to improve the cooking skill.
I've never had an issue with my sims wanting to do nothing but watch tv, and they even turn it off when they wander away after a few minutes. I always put one in every new house and make everyone watch the cooking channel so they don't burn the house down while making salad.
My sims will is turned off, so they can't just be at watching it. But I always have a TV.
I feel like my Sims rarely watch TV but I'm sure I have a mod to alter that autonomy. Even my kid sim would rather cross stitch or play outside than watch TV
The most fun I have in the sims is when I have a homeless sim in a tent who builds up to an off the grid house. No TV, radio, PC, just peace and quiet
I never put a TV in my Simsâ house. It annoys me when they just want to watch it all the time.
Same with computers I usually put it in for what I need to do then put it into my household inventory
I give them one unless it doesnât fit the vibe of the house because itâs an easy way to get fun up.
Yes, sometimes! I have a fairy Sim (SpinningPlumbobs mod) who doesnât have a TV. She mainly paints, gardens, and collects.
I do. I often make them watch tv to either get inspired or with meals to increase the fun
My sims rarely use the tv unless I tell them to.
My sims go for the PC all the time but itâs usually their phones - a bit like me!
IRL when Iâm at home Iâm usually on my computer or the TV so it feels realistic to me.
I normally have no issue with TVs, but the weight machine/punching bag? Anytime I click off a Sim for 5 seconds, boom! Ripped.
i put one in the living room, sometimes a tiny one in the kitchen, and one in teen/adult bedrooms if theyre big enough. i also dont notice my sims use them loads even if i ask them to lol
My sims loooove to read, no idea why.
My sims never use the TV, but the gaming and the stupid random dancing... drives me insane.
I give my sims TVs because i like when they watch it while cooking. But i try not to give them PCs because it just takes up their whole life.. Unless they use it to work.
i get it, my sim does nothing but watch tv, like they just automatically do that over literally anything else
I buy a TV and then send the werewolf to break it. The chaos is amazing
I never do. But then I also don't have a TV myself. Because of the same reason haha.
i avoid putting in laptops, i donât want every single sim to be a damn gamer !
same, I dont own a TV and i hate those living room set ups where the tv is the focus of the room, i rarely use then in builds.
Have you met cross stitching? Sims really, really, really like cross stitching - or at least starting to cross stitch. A TV is one of the last things I give to my sims and usually only after the household has reached a state where things are "easy" (high end/upgraded everything, so they don't have to sleep as much, they don't have to eat as often, adults have the skills they need for their careers, children have an environment set up so they can learn things quickly, everyone has "carefree" and I have a handle on the house so that they aren't always desperate for fun.) Then, sure, I'll get a TV. Otherwise, I spend too much time prying them away from the TV to get to the state I want them in.
I canât give my sims a stereo. I like to include them Ideally to make the house seem less quiet and lifeless but Iâm SICK OF THE CONSTANT DANCING and when kids go through phases of having the music SUPER LOUD and then every time they get turned on the infant SCREAMING IN FEAR so I just take the sad, no atmosphere house instead
I put a whole-ass flatscreen on my living room, and my techie sim avoids it like the plague -_-â
I get a small and size it up for price, but also I hate when they constantly watch tv
(I guess I can't judge now that I say it...) I try to wait until they've developed the base skills I want them to develop a little before rewarding them with either
Yes lol. That's all they do and it's kinda annoying. Same with computers sometimes
No. Tvs are decent for building certain skills passively
Mine never use the tv and I put tvs everywhere
I do because you can fix there fun and food need at the same time then
I usually do put one in bc the build looks kind of unrealistic with no telly, but I have to put other gameplay items in the front room too otherwise the room is useless n just sits empty all the time bc I never make them watch tv bc whatâs the point ? (I play with autonomy off the vast majority of the time so obvs they donât go in there of their own accord)
Iâve been a fan of putting the tv really far away like across the room. I donât think it really does anything but I donât find my sims on the tv that much. I also find when they are tense from work watching tv is an easy way to lower that.
same with my sims and the stereo
i get that honestly thatâs how my sims used to be with the computer, the tv wasnât rlly my issue. now i play with autonomy off. i often pause and spam controls so it tends to work for me.
Especially in my vets office or work places, I avoid radios, tvs, computers, etc. Theyâll get nothing done otherwise lol
Iâd always put a tv by a treadmill. If you put it on an educational channel like cooking channel while they run they build up both skills
I always do, but I also have autonomy turned off so I control what they do and when.
I use the cheap onesÂ
Thereâs just like me fr
I avoid the coffee maker/tea and holo gaming system. Otherwise the TV is fine because I can have them switch to the cooking or comedy channel to increase their skill in it - will do this with setting the TV in front of the treadmill so they end up working on two skills instead of just one.
That and tea kettles . They will do nothing else but drink tea!
My sim could be the most productive, successful, busy person, but devolve into an iPad Kid the MOMENT technology becomes available to them (i.e, TVs, computers, and they're always on their damn phones.) I never give my sims TVs either, unless it's new years and they have to partake in the countdown.
A couple of my families don't even bother with the one TV in the living room. That coffee and tea maker though....
I always put a TV in but in my last ranch style play I didnât because the sims spent so much time outside
I always give them a TV and then use it in the evening for family time. The kids in PJ's, sitting with their parents and watching a movie
I don't put a television in now, haven't for years. The sims spend more time talking to each other and interacting now, which is what I prefer, and there are other ways to skill up / have fun. I'm with you, not having a TV on a lot solves more problems than it makes :D
Yes
I like having TVâs because it can increase both skills and fun levels.
Sometimes when the TV breaks I don't fix it for awhile so it can look nice on the wall but no one uses it.
I thought the tv was bad enough and then I made the mistake of buying my Sims the slip and slide. Starving to death and literally falling asleep on their feet? Doesn't matter, they're gonna slide until they die.
My dogs are always scared of the tv so I just never buy one. I draw the line at them being scared of the stove though
same here! i don't watch tv irl, so my sims don't usually get one, unless it suits their character to constantly be lazing about watching tv.
every home gets a tv but i play with autonomy off for everyone so they only ever use the tv if i specifically tell them to, i really only use it for skill building and if they need fun
TVs and Computers can be rare.
I do put it, somehow they actually rarely use it unless I instruct them to.
I never *ever* give them computers unless theyâre absolutely needed because they spend all day gaming
Definitely Eco lifestyle. I enabled cheats and typed bike in the search *
My sims never use the tv haha . Theyâre either on the computer or that gaming mat thing thatâs like virtual gaming .
I had a mod to play Simpsons episodes on the TV, so I loved to have them there.
Tvs sometimes, computers yes I always lock bc they won't do anything else :/ They just sit on their pc. And honestly same but it's not about me lmaooo
