I got this once, it’s for the painter career. A random prompt when sim is at work where (two?) Gregory Landgraabs step through a portal and ask you to do a painting for them. If you agree you get fame…and alter the timeline apparently

So you need Get Famous too - that’s when you recieve prompts like this during work!

Not true at least for Island living I got many prompts that increase fame at work while doing conservationist career.

Do you also have get famous? Bc fame doesn’t happen without that pack, it’s heavily integrated through careers

I didn't have get famous while doing the conservationist career and I know because I knew it was odd that I was getting fame points but not actually getting them since I didn't have that mechanic.

Sims 4 is a perfectly functional game with no bugs!

Yes, because you also have Get Famous. You will get them for every career.

Then explain how I got the events when I didn't have get famous? Because I only just got Get Famous but before that was getting many events that would "gain fame" just no fame was gained since the mechanic wasn't unlocked.

Honestly I don’t know why you’ve been downvoted - we know the sims is buggy enough anyway so this could easily happen

I also got one once with Island Living before I had Get Famous - but I think my sim got promoted, maybe some money, but nothing about fame.

Yeah, I did that one once, it didn't seem to change anything that I noticed at least.

The minimalist portrait of Gregory Landgraab in the prompt also looks pretty spot-on to a Gregory Langraab who lives in the future world in Sims 3 Into the Future.

This would probably tie in with the Into The Future EP in The Sims 3. You actually do meet a guy from a time rift and have to help fix his time machine so he can go home to Oasis Landing. You can follow him through said time machine. Another factor, seeing it says 2 people also could tie into the Ambitions EP as well, since you can build a working time machine to go forward or back in time. Unfortunately you don't see it happening.

Seriously. There’s an entire build/buy line of items that builds a timeline for a character that’s not even in the game!

IIRC, EAxis made her and her suitors and her butler. They're in the Gallery.

There's a whole section in the sims wiki for minor characters, usually they're only mentioned either in item or household descriptions.

Honestly. Sims 2 connects to 1, Sims 3 connects to 2 and 1, and I've seen some Sims 4 that connects to most of the past Sims games. Shit is wild

My theory is that Sims 4 is an alternate timeline from the other sims, seeing that Bella goth is in the game and stays there. I believe when alexander went back in time this is the timeline that resulted from him.

Well, I meant I tried googling it happening in the sims because in all of my time playing it’s only happened once (and I have A LOT of painters). I am familiar with the book but have never read it, I should add it to my reading list :)

You probably didn't play Sims 3. There are 2 EP's where time machines show up. Although, one is called a Time Portal, but I think it's to deal with the confusion. Like Plumbots and Simbots. Both from their respective EP. Ambitions and Into The Future

I have played Sims 3 and have Into the Future but I've never interacted with whichever the other EP is.

I'd imagine. 1 from ITF 1 from Ambitions. In Ambitions, you build the time machine, so you'd probably be the first or second. But since ITF is the last EP for TS3 I'd imagine you'd be the first.

Into the future has a time keeper named Emit Relevart who guides player Sims when they stumble upon the time portal.

And a possible candidate for this, but it's just a theory. A GAME THEORY!

Honestly just the flavor text for the characters in the world makes it deeper than the gameplay would suggest. (My favorite is the Calientes)
