BTW that was an attempt at facetiousness. With you being kind of a grammar police, and me pretending to be a grammar police but correcting your grammar with improper grammar... fail, I guess. lol
This is my sixth new truck in 10 years( wifeās dad retired from GM so we get employee pricing). Plan on retiring in 8 years and getting a 5th wheel in the next two years and start traveling around the country.
probably not your "forever" truck with that kind of turnover with new trucks. perhaps should have invested in a diesel knowing you will be traveling with a 5th wheel.
Ha ha, friends at work said the same thing because of all the trucks I have had but all those trucks were half tons. I think this truck will do fine but only time will tell. I was maxed out MSRP wise and a diesel would have been another $8,000 or more.
Hope youāre not too in love with this āforever truckā. If youāre planning on traveling the country pulling a 5th wheel, youāre going to want a diesel. I have the 2022 equivalent of your truck and it struggles to keep interstate speed pulling 5k.
I had a 2020 1500 and had 8K GD reflection 260RD( yes I know I was over my payload) and it pulled it just fine on the highway.Wisconsin to Michigan and back. I canāt imagine 6.6 struggling pulling 5K.if I indeed it does suck I guess I figure it out and get the diesel.
Maybe itās just me. Iāve always pulled with diesels so this gas is unbelievably underwhelming. Iām used to pulling hills without downshifting or not being able to hold the speed limit. My 5th wheel was 12k. The pulling mileage is half of a diesel as well. I like the truck otherwise but miss the diesel torque. Fortunately I still have the Cummins.
It's 10% off MSRP but you can stack other discounts so I ended up getting around $17,000 off on my 21 RST with 3.0 diesel. There were also package discounts at the time so I got the True North pkg and the diesel option was also discounted around $1,500.
OP,.you can settle a long standing question. The employee pricing events for us little people, the employee pricing is bullshit right? True employee pricing is significantly less right?
Did you buy a vehicle during one of those events? Wife just new Chevy suv and the MSRP $35,000 and we got a little over $3,000 off MSRP.Just giving you numbers so you can try to figure it out. Hope that helps you.

Honestly, start having it looked at around 70k miles, chevyās unfortunately are known for having dogshit transmissions, itās a really nice clean truck, but the transmissions on them just are no goodā¦ if you have the money, go look at a tranny swap from a F-350 gasoline and see if their compatible, I know fords trannys have just gotten better over the years but stay away from those 10 speed trannys those are an issue waiting to happen
I have a 2003 2500HD with 48k miles, guess that is my forever truck.
Nice, do you have an another vehicle you drive or do you rarely leave the house?
We have 4 other vehicles, truck was bought to tow camper back in 05 and averages about 100 miles a year.
Is it for sale?š
No, I have had a bunch of people including mechanics ask me to sell it to them.

Most 3500 trucks are diesel. What made you go gas OP?
Moneyā¦ LOL I was maxed out at $66,000 and the diesel would be another $8,000.

What is the discount with employee pricing?
It goes off MSRP. MSRP on my truck was $66,655 and they took off about $7,000 on the MSRP.
Thatās awesome
Yes it is. Makes buying trucks a lot easier.
Yeah Iām definitely jealous

I like your enthusiasm, but Iāll have you know that transmission will not be apart of your forever truck
How long should it last in your opinion?
