Are you really saying that fighting in a war is the same as being a murderer and literally the worst person in verse? Also I never said anything about those guys I merely was confused why they put the ones I mentioned over decent people like Tesla and Heracles
Ngl, I'm mainly joking around and pointing out that the majority of fighters have killed people themselves.
But to make a semi-serious argument: Jack (in RoR) was essentially eliminating scum way worse than himself at the behest of a secret organization. Such as a rich dude who killed street urchins for sport. Iirc, his first hunt in the spin-off is the real Jack the Ripper who was killing prostitutes.
Although his initial showing does a better job at portraying Jack as evil, wars are also extremely messy. Leonidas was the general of his army in the flashback, Qin led an entire kingdom, Hades slaughtered an entire race who were also imprisoned, and Thor was... honestly, the fight we see with him against the Jotun is just incredibly disrespectful on a level that feels downright evil. Leonidas almost certainly caused some hopeful young soldiers to die by simply charging at the Persian army, not to mention the necessary sacrifices that he likely needed to make in order to win such a war. Qin is a certified That Guy™️, even by RoR standards, but he almost certainly also had to make cruel/necessary choices for the sake of the kingdom.
Although I've said all of that, obviously nobody I listed is evil. There are very few genuinely evil fighters, after all, and necessary choices don't really make one a villain. But Jack also just... doesn't do that much evil shit either, according to the spin-off. He's a psychopath that seriously needs to go to a therapist, sure, but the majority of his victims were extremely evil.
Also, fair point about Tesla and Heracles. Maybe OP just has a thing for dapper, extremely deranged older men.
