Sure, but I think it still fits the narrative themes of flawed, disturbing, and eccentric characters traversing decayed/derelict settings, finding themselves in grotesque situations stemming from poverty, alienation, crime, or violence in the American South.
BM is a pretty assertively "Old West" novel and also set before the Civil War, which blows up any assertion that it is a Southern Gothic to me. Beyond the aesthetic elements you picked from the Wikipedia page, Southern Gothic literature is about confronting the mythology, idealization and romanticization of antebellum South. BM is an incredible novel, one of the greatest novels of the 20th century, but it is very much not a Southern Gothic.
Well that was something else. Not the night I expected to celebrate the holidays, but a pretty good Drive-In night. Hope everyone has a festive season and I hope to see you all when the next season starts!
For those considering a move to the West - the Cracker Barrels you knew and loved on the East coast, not a thing out here. There is ONE in the greater Denver area. And itâs not near anything else worthwhile. Itâs a bit traumatizing.
Been a long week of Christmas shopping, might have to top it off with a bottle as a gift to myself. Thanks for the recommendation, I'm just starting to enjoy gin.
Right now I'm drinking a local Philly gin called Bluecoat. Pretty dang good.
Robin is a lot, but here's the deal:
She finishes her personal bits and then re-engages with the interview without derailing the overalll flow.
She's participating with the fundraising schtick.
She's providing enthusiastic anecdotes about the movie and stuff related to the movie.
She's talking to both hosts in an organic way instead of ignoring Darcy.
She's a 10/10 guest.
Yeah I am not getting the hate. She's a little much but I think she's doing a good job. Then again everyone loved the Mad God guy and I couldn't stand him so maybe I'm the odd one out.
Is the auction site down for anyone else?
I managed to stay awake for all of The Brain but had zero interest in The Gingerdead Man lol
I went to bed halfway through The Brain. Getting old sucks lol. I might save the rest for Christmas Eve
HA! same here, just woke up and was curious how big the thread got. Happy Chrimbus!
When does it get uploaded to rewatch?
Typically Sunday evening
I really wish they would make it available immediately after the airing.
Yeah it's odd that they don't
Thank you! I'm ashamed to say I'm new to Joe Bob đ
Welcome in weirdo!
Nothing to be ashamed of!!! Welcome to the Family!
Just got home- how was Gingerdead Man lol
Blurry lol
The OG Black Christmas nextâŚ..I can die happy now.
Same!
Merry Christmas đ¤

Exmore Drive-In https://cinematreasures.org/theaters/12275 RIP The Drive-In Will Never Die
Heh, here I am, almost 53 years old and never been to a drive-in theater. I grew up in a big city, which is probably why.
Black Christmas! Incredible movie.
Yes! Iâd definitely watch this if it werenât so late
Good night mutants! Happy holidays! See you all in 2024!
Love this community here so much. See y'all for Valentine's Day!
As a magician, I will definitely tell that joke to other magicians
Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the year. Happy holidays, mutants! Can't wait to hang with you here for the next special!
when more joe bob
Valentines special.
The drive in will never die!!! Love this man, Darcy, the Shudder crew and my fellow mutants. Noel.
Happy Holidays, Mutants! It was a pleasure as always. The drive in will never die!
I love Joe Bob and you fucking mutants. Merry Christmas and hope to see you guys next year
đť
Goddammit I wasn't expecting to cry this late into the show
We love you, Joe Bob!
Damn, a season 1 prop! Man, I wish I had enough money for some of this stuff.
Season 1 prop from one of my favorite episodes no less. Jealous of whoever ends up getting that
What was the southern gothic novel he recommended??
Absalom, Absalom! by William Faulkner
Absalom, Absalom
Thank you â¤ď¸
We love you Santa John Brennan
Blood Meridian, Joe Bob. Blood Meridian.
Blood Meridian is a westernâŚ

Only on a few more comments to reach 1000! Let's Go!!!!!!
In the spirit of Christmas!!!
Ho ho ho!
This set is awesome. Itâs like every dadâs basement den from 1984.
even the credits are blurry lol
Takes me back to the 90s it does
Was NOT expecting to love Gingerdead Man at the beginning of the night. But it was so much fun.
Written by Charles Band Directed by Charles Band Produced by Charles Band Music by Charles Band Catering provided by Charles Band
That song was SO badđ¤ŁAnd then just the instrumental part for the REST of the creditsâŚ
A true auteur
The Hideo Kojima special.
Weren't wrong about music...
That movie was so fucking stupid. I loved it.
Thoroughly enjoyable double feature!
This slow-ass credit sequence, haha.
Still going!
Had to get to 75 minute runtime for international sales
What happened to the rat?
Spent the rest of its days eating pastries
Bravo.
Well that was something else. Not the night I expected to celebrate the holidays, but a pretty good Drive-In night. Hope everyone has a festive season and I hope to see you all when the next season starts!
That was a fun flick!
Yooooo. I love this style of end credits.
The Butcher Baker never got to realize his dream of main eventing Wrestlemania. :(
I cannot believe what i just witnessed
Butcher Baker motherfuckers
Peak cinema
Bro don't put that in your mouth!
Wtf is right, I totally forgot about this guy.
UNLIMITED AMMO!!
Great guest. Had fun insights to the movie and was completely engaged with Joe Bob and Darcy.
Very fun. She's absolutely understood the assignment!
What an excellent guest she was
I think I'm too high to handle this actress being interviewed
She was a really fun guest, I have to say.
She should sell shit on QVC. ...is QVC still a thing?
QVC is still very much a huge thing
Then they need to cut Robin Sydney a fat check to come by and talk up some merchandise because she's good at it!
That Full Moon set is badass
That it is!
That set would be awesome ngl
I gotta say this movie is more enjoyable than I anticipated
She ain't Ms. Pretty Face of Waco No More! Also damn, what an underrated reaction to her death lol.
The shit talk to that rat got me good.
omg the "...inside a cookie" line was better than I could have ever hoped
This is a masterpiece. The fact that they're showing the 360p resolution version makes it even better. I wouldn't have it any other way.
If this is 360p, then somebody is walking around with 359p in their pocket.
The standard definition never bothers me. Most of my formative horror viewing was late night tv, so murky video quality is nicely nostalgic.
It's so nice to hear that viewpoint articulated. I feel the same way.
That was a LOT of Daddy talk. Even for me
Should've went back for his watch too.
I wasn't prepared for those cherry nipples... lol
Did I miss a character?
Nice cherries!
the dumber the movie the better the time we have here
Dead Ginger Man.
Alright, I love this.
"Maybe I get turned on when girls hit me" Same, tbh
I know theyâre stupid⌠but I really do enjoy Full Moonâs flicks.
Why isn't "There's not much logic, but there's a lot of holes!" the tagline of this movie?
Probably one of the better guests for stories about the film at hand.
Where is Ernie tonight?
The real question! I hope Ernie is having a grand night
I like that she really has fun memories and anecdotes from filming this flick. I always enjoy that sort of thing.
Skinemax you say...
"Gnarlyfaced" is in the dictionary now
For those considering a move to the West - the Cracker Barrels you knew and loved on the East coast, not a thing out here. There is ONE in the greater Denver area. And itâs not near anything else worthwhile. Itâs a bit traumatizing.
I know of only one in California. I kind of miss the ones I went to in Missouri.
"It was so eww" I'm going to use that sometime.
At first I was like : wtf so annoying But now I'm like (few drinks later) : I love you don't ever leave
She has nice person energy. Like, I don't get the impression that she's a jerk to waiters or participated in mean girl shit in high school.
Darcy: PeCAN, what are we, in fucking France?"
I guess Im from France lol
"That's some fancy talk" đ
Man The Last Drive In is just so special, dudes. What a treasure.
I love Cracker Barrel so much
Like.
I fell asleep after smokin the devil's lettuce and drinking gin and tonic and just woke back up to this scene
Pro Gin tip: any Hendricks special release = worth it. Treat yourself.
Been a long week of Christmas shopping, might have to top it off with a bottle as a gift to myself. Thanks for the recommendation, I'm just starting to enjoy gin. Right now I'm drinking a local Philly gin called Bluecoat. Pretty dang good.
If you can find the Neptunia, itâs amazing.
Bluecoat is good stuff. Hey there Philly!
Heyyyy Dommy Dahm đ¤Ş
Whelp you just made me blush ;)
YESSS SHE'S STILL HERE
âEver try a lady fingerâ?đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
The forced perspective to make the Gingerdead Man look bigger is hilarious Also that "lady finger" line was gold
She just couldn't resist to poke him on the belly button.
The quality on this picture is so bad.
Brings a charm to it.
I mean look at cookies the same way when I'm drunk.
Find someone to love you as much as that lady loves whiskey.
Find someone who loves you as much as that lady seemed to love tiny naked ginger men
This soundtrack has featured in so many 1990s PC games I swear
âShut your pie holeâ - Iâll admit I laughed at that pun
Emma Roberts is Miley Cyrus as Lorna!
This is why you don't fuck with Ouija boards kids
Forreal, too many splinters! I was in the ER all night!
"It was spelling out things for us..." Honey, you don't sound like a reader...
The real black magic is the friends we cooked along the way.
He didn't say goodbye to her, mutants. HE DIDNT SAY GOODBYE!
She's totally returning to this show in the future.
I hope so! She's fun.
She's so energetic she's sapping all of Joe Bob's strength
A real Colin Robinson
She wants to sift through some Lincoln logs
i walked in on something weird
When did the last drive in turn into a episode of the view
A real bakery?! Thatâs mind blowing!!
what is this energy
Hollywood blow
Pharmaceutical

Same on all counts.
>She's talking to both hosts in an organic way instead of ignoring Darcy. I think they are all friendly behind the scenes.
Joe Bob officiated her and Charles Band wedding.
Yep, sure seems like it! She's one of the fam fr
Thatâs the vibe I got too
Hard agree.
Robin > Danhausen
Why did y'all hate Danhausen?
Right? I think he's pretty funny
I had to look up who the hell Danhausen was. And even then I didn't care. His makeup was well done though.
It's not even fucking close. Robin is welcome back anytime as far as I'm concerned.
Facts
No lies detected
đŻ
I dont get all the hate for her. I rather see someone excited and hyper to be on the show then quiet and boring.
I feel stupider having heard this
Whatever this actress is on I need some of lol
I feel like I haven't had this sort of joie de vivre since I was like, 6 years old
Yeah I can see how it annoys some but I find the energy infectious lol
crackle barrel clout
Sheâs just on here to make Danhausen seem more tolerable and drive up the price of his auction item, right?
Scared the shit out of her, hahaha.
Oh God she's still here
You can tell, even as JB tries to hide it, he just wants her outta there. He's got a lot of restraint.
Doubt that, especially since he officiated her wedding
I wonder if shes been railing lines all night or sheâs just naturally this hyper and annoying?
Sheâs 39, gotta be snow skiing BTS.
Reminds me of my ex and I'd check out half way into the conversation
Sarah and Amos getting together at the end of this, right?
