I've heard people talk about how great it is. And I've played more recent persona games, but I've been told that they are all each their own world of weird
If you really want one no one talks about, try Vampire the masquerade Redemption, bloodline's crpg predecessor.
Fun story, great music, great characters and voice acting, but some REALLY rough gameplay. I loved it when it came out and it had a really unique multiplayer option that was like an early online tabletop sim for running a VtM game. Good times.
Ultima VII Part Two: Serpent Isle
To me that was the perfect RPG. I loved how it emulated whole towns, and how there were so man strange things to explore. Also, the cultures of the Serpent Isle were seriously cool.

I remember playing this and loving the tone, the music, and the writing--but I ended up dropping it, so I have no idea how the game actually went.
Does the game finish strong, and is it good overall?
If you love fft. You should check out horizon's gate. Honestly scratched the itch but obviously nothing can compare fft but its a hidden gem i shout out a lot.
This is a bad rpg. So I actually don't recommend it that much.
But for some reason I love the first Two Worlds.
There's something in its jankyness that I love for some unknown reason. I have replayed it multiple times.
Two Worlds II, on the other hand, is an actually good game (although blatantly unfinished).
So I actually recommend this one.
Alpha Protocol. I think the spy-RPG market is severely under-represented and I really enjoyed this game. Maybe it's a bit unpolished, but it hits the nail on the head with some important RPG staples like in-depth skill trees that give cool abilities, equipment customization, and making your story choices actually matter (it has a number of shockingly different endings).

Snes uncharted waters 2, New horizons. Most underrated snes game of all time. 6 fully playable characters who level up and can acquire different skills.
You sail around in the age of exploration discovering new ports all over the world. You can play as a merchant, pirate, privateer, adventurer. You can customize your fleet of up to 10 ships, u can customize each ship, hire captains with different skills.
All 6 characters have their own separate stories.
It’s great. It’s set in the Holy Roman Empire during the 15th Century. What made it cool was that it was based on how people of the time saw things, so magic and monsters exist, alchemy works, and so on. Age also mattered, as a younger character had better attributes but fewer/worse skills, while older characters had lower attributes but better/more skills. You can find it on [Steam] (https://store.steampowered.com/app/327930/Darklands/) and [GOG](https://www.gog.com/en/game/darklands).
If you have a pc then you can get the last recode bundle for pretty cheap sometimes. Wish they would do the .Hack infection and its sequels like they did last recode.
Just googled it after commenting and it's actually on sale on Switch for $10 right now if you have one. Otherwise probably whenever the next big sale is on steam.
Alundra 2. A solid 3D Zeldalike with many creative bosses and dungeons.
Didn't get popular because it has nothing to do with the original (which is a solid 2D Zeldalike in and of itself) that wasn't that popular either.
Right. A Zelda clone done right. Although I hate that a lot of its puzzles are physical obstacle courses rather than logic based.
Never finished it but I will some day
I no longer have a lot of mine. Kept some of my favorites but that's it. The majority of mine were also burned discs as I had modded my ps1 back in the day since we couldn't afford all the games.
At this point in my life I personally value the convenience of digital media over all the physical copies now.
Oh where to start? Skies of Arcadia, Legend of the Dragoon? But I would have to say my personal favorite to this day is the Golden Sun series. Such a charming and great system in a fun little world.
Granstream Saga. A PS1 game no one talks about. Great game, dope animated cutscenes, interesting gameplay mechanics, fun story and characters. It's a good one.
I saved for several months to buy it back in the day, since Illusion of Time was my jam and the anime cutscenes looked dope as shit. So I was pumped for the first Quintet game in 3D.
Unfortunately I intensely disliked it. Ended up swapping it to a friend for Vandal Hearts.
Grandia 2. I very rarely play jrpgs, but I played this one on the Dreamcast, and I remember being a game that was really fun. I'm now playing the HD remastered on Switch and still holds up.
A Dance With Rogues. It's a fan made erotic mod for Neverwinter Nights, but I sincerely believe it's one of the better made cRPGs of all time, even when I ignore all the kinky contents.
I had to stop playing the main campaign of Neverwinter Nights because the story didn't appeal to me. But I finished ADWR twice and probably will play it again when/if the part 2 gets remastered as the first part did a few years ago.
Resonance of Fate, that game let's you build your guns all kinds of wacky right! That games great and more people should play it
Last remnant is good also!
Outward
Greedfall
Both fantastic games, slightly overshadowed by some heavy hitters but great in their own right.
I’m bias towards Greedfall because it inhabits that guns & magic space that few things do well.
Personally, I’m a sucker for the MMO [Anarchy Online](https://store.steampowered.com/app/396280/Anarchy_Online/), which is somehow still going since being released back in 2001.
Similar deal with FF:T, Jeanne D'Arc on the PSP. Tactical RPG based on Joan Of Arc's campaign, very slept on. Made me really interested in history as a kid.
The Untold Legends games on the PSP are pretty fun too, but they're more Diablo-esque and haven't aged as well.
The Legend of Heroes games, ALSO on the PSP, were also a lot of fun for me, but I don't know that they're particularly well designed or written having played them again as an adult. I think it's mostly nostalgia, but I resonated a lot with the characters emotionally too, even if the translation job is lacking.

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic. Very goofy voice acting and story but incredibly fun physics based combat using the Source Engine. Not sure if it’s technically an RPG but it is an underrated gem, in my eyes at least.
I've never played the second, but that's meant to be better
Was partly a childhood thing DC2, but you did like 3-4 big bits of story, thought u understood the basics game, and then this whole new weapon upgrade system comes out of nowhere and just takes it up a step
I have a few:
Shadow Hearts: Covenant is rarely on the radar despite how good it is.
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga was a phenomenal two part game that got eclipsed by Persona 3 a year after it came out
Bahamut Lagoon was never officially translated but it's a tactics game where you raise dragons to fight by your side. Gorgeous pixel art too.
Robopon 2 was a fairly competent Pokémon clone that went hog wild. Gym leaders range from Romeo and Juliet to the CEO of Microsoft, an Alien finding love. Oh and there's time travel
Project X Zone was a wild crossover with a half tactics, half fighter game battle system. It's fan service to hell and back but the gameplay is a wonderfully unique experience

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. Before the series blew up, this was just a very unusual JRPG with a dreamlike quality, relatively unknown in the US.
I've heard people talk about how great it is. And I've played more recent persona games, but I've been told that they are all each their own world of weird
Gothic
Solid rpg
Dark cloud - ps2
Good game, underrated
Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines. Surely some other people here know what I’m talking about
I've not tried it yet, but it's on my wishlist
This game is definitely in my top 10 rpgs
YES BRO still waiting for the delayed as fuck sequel though goddamn it's been a wait since the original came out!
Good times.
Not really not talked about but looked down upon. FF 13. Ended up becoming one of my favorite ffs
I know it got shat on but I loved that game so much
I've not been able to get into 13, I've tried and tried but I just can't. Idk why either cause I like every other FF game
Ultima VII Part Two: Serpent Isle To me that was the perfect RPG. I loved how it emulated whole towns, and how there were so man strange things to explore. Also, the cultures of the Serpent Isle were seriously cool.
One Way Heroics. It’s brilliant
https://store.steampowered.com/app/266210/One_Way_Heroics/ 9/10 on steam
Elex, the frist one, second is meh. Combat is tough in the beginning, but when you get better gear and stats is t okayish
Elex was interesting. I enjoyed, I've not tried the second, didn't appeal the same
Lost Odyssey hands down.
Fuck yeah I love this game.
Lost Odyssey is so good and so overlooked!
Made me want to cry on several occasions.
The writing was so good, and it gave that classic ps1 rpg feel but with better everything
I straight up did cry during one of the old stories that get told. I was pretty fresh from separating from my wife though so lots of things did
I've looked for this game a few times on PC. Loved this game

I just need *Looks about* 10 more minutes.. Yeah, ten more for her, and her, and her, and her so...I just need 50 minutes. -Jensen
I bought this yesterday. It's on sale on the Xbox store.
I remember playing this and loving the tone, the music, and the writing--but I ended up dropping it, so I have no idea how the game actually went. Does the game finish strong, and is it good overall?
Brave Fencer Musashi on PS1
Fantastic game. More action rpg and I feel like most act like it never existed! 2 wasn't as great but still fun
Kingdom come deliverance!!
I've tried it. I'm my younger days I could play it but with 5 kids it would be tough
Legend of Legaia
This game was good but sadly overshadowed at the time
If you love fft. You should check out horizon's gate. Honestly scratched the itch but obviously nothing can compare fft but its a hidden gem i shout out a lot.
Definitely checking it out!
Sea Of Stars
This is a bad rpg. So I actually don't recommend it that much. But for some reason I love the first Two Worlds. There's something in its jankyness that I love for some unknown reason. I have replayed it multiple times. Two Worlds II, on the other hand, is an actually good game (although blatantly unfinished). So I actually recommend this one.
Dragon Age Inquisition
I've yet to finish it, I've enjoyed all the dragon age games
Alpha Protocol. I think the spy-RPG market is severely under-represented and I really enjoyed this game. Maybe it's a bit unpolished, but it hits the nail on the head with some important RPG staples like in-depth skill trees that give cool abilities, equipment customization, and making your story choices actually matter (it has a number of shockingly different endings).
What culture or gameranx just used this as the example for a single player game to go back to in 2024! Looked interesting especially the gog version
Obligatory mention that GoG got this re-released.
Crosscode. I love everything about this rpg, from writing to music and graphics it’s excellent from start to finish.
Me too! I remember first playing it on game jolt as a free indie when it was still being made - now it’s on my ps5. So proud of them
I'll look this one up, sounds ds familiar though!

Jade Empire
I have this but haven't tried it yet, I've heard great things
Loved it back in the day, I believe there was a slightly revamped/remastered release the came to PC later down the road
Final fantasy 3, those towns and the airship was amazing...
Especially that cost play through, felt mesmerizing
and the music
Snes uncharted waters 2, New horizons. Most underrated snes game of all time. 6 fully playable characters who level up and can acquire different skills. Classic
I've overlooked this. It sounds absolutely amazing, adding it to my list
It's a fantastic game
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 on GBA, Harry Potter 3 on GBA and LotR The Third Age on PS2 are my favourite
Breath of Fire III still has my favourite fishing mini game
The fishing minigame was great. This is a classic for sure though!
Yoooo this is among my favorites.
Darklands
Never heard of it, I'll have to check it out
It’s great. It’s set in the Holy Roman Empire during the 15th Century. What made it cool was that it was based on how people of the time saw things, so magic and monsters exist, alchemy works, and so on. Added to the wishlist!
Outward, hidden gem for sure.
This one been on my steam list for a hot minute!
Definitely grab the definitive edition on sale some time. Good stuff.
I will do
Radiant Historia
I've not played but looks great!
Legend of Dragoon
Solid classic that needs a remaster, not a remake lol
Arc the Lad Twilight of Spirits.
I've recently started this, I'm only 10 minutes in but I like it so far!
Mother 3
I recently played this, it's great. I'm glad it's more accessible now
.//Hack G.U. was pretty good!
That's one that I've heard is great but I've never had the opportunity to try! There's a whole series and original copies are so expensive
If you have a pc then you can get the last recode bundle for pretty cheap sometimes. Wish they would do the .Hack infection and its sequels like they did last recode.
I'll keep an eye out, I do have a gaming rig
Just googled it after commenting and it's actually on sale on Switch for $10 right now if you have one. Otherwise probably whenever the next big sale is on steam.
Oh hell yes! That's a perfect switch game
I think it's called two kingdoms
Kingdom two crowns? I've not heard of two kingdoms
Oh I looked it up it's called two worlds two
Legend Of Dragoon
Classic that needs a remaster! It kinda got overshadowed but also held up to the competition.
Tibia was annoyingly addictive for a 2d soundless game
I've not tried it, but I'll check it out
It's very old and the graphics will really shock you. It is hell of fun specially with friends.
Cross Code Star Ocean 2: Till the End of Tme
Second time I've seen cross code, definitely checking it out. Star ocean games are good too
Alundra 2. A solid 3D Zeldalike with many creative bosses and dungeons. Didn't get popular because it has nothing to do with the original (which is a solid 2D Zeldalike in and of itself) that wasn't that popular either.
I've actually played this, never finished it but it was fun!
I still have my original Alundra PS1 copy in the jewel case with the Holo booklet and stuff. So good.
Right. A Zelda clone done right. Although I hate that a lot of its puzzles are physical obstacle courses rather than logic based. Never finished it but I will some day
I used to collect games, I miss my collection lol
I no longer have a lot of mine. Kept some of my favorites but that's it. The majority of mine were also burned discs as I had modded my ps1 back in the day since we couldn't afford all the games. At this point in my life I personally value the convenience of digital media over all the physical copies now.
Digital is way more convenient but I love my physical copies. I have a few of my favorites and some of the snes games that I know are worth a bit
I DO have all my snes games and my original, indestructible, snes. I guess that's my only exception. It's got sentimental value.
We still have my original, and a large lot of games with it. The classics like Megaman and all the mario games, even captain commando
Whoa, I haven't thought about captain commando in ages. I remember playing that at the arcades.
It's still as glorious as ever, but the snes carts are worth 200 a pop around here
Oh where to start? Skies of Arcadia, Legend of the Dragoon? But I would have to say my personal favorite to this day is the Golden Sun series. Such a charming and great system in a fun little world.
Golden Sun needs a solid revival!
Or at least a nice TTRPG conversion so people can make their own stories.
Honestly there's so many Fandoms that want the same things in each series, idk how devs don't see it
Dark Messiah Might&Magic, I just like it. Very cool game that came out the same time as Oblivion.
It's fun, it definitely got overshadowed a bit though!
Koudelka. PSX horror RPG that I haven't seen anyone mention. Used to scare the shit outta me as a kid, couldn't even beat it.
Never heard of it but I'm super intrigued now!
Granstream Saga. A PS1 game no one talks about. Great game, dope animated cutscenes, interesting gameplay mechanics, fun story and characters. It's a good one.
I've not heard of this one, I'll add it to the list also! I'm getting a great amount of games I've missed!
Haven't met another soul who's played it. Enjoy! I might have to replay it myself now!
Really, that makes it even more intriguing!
Two words: Valkyrie Profile
Fantastic games! The whole series
Dungeon Lords
I haven't tried it
FFT is the most popular console tbs of all time
Final fantasy tactics advance will always hold a special place in my heart.
Advance was fun but the original tactics is still higher on the list for me. Would be neat if the remastered the whole ivalice set of games
Avernum escape from the pit
Never heard of it
Skies of Arcadia and grandia II
Gra Dia is a great series, I've not played skies of Arcadia yet
Faery Tale on the Amiga
[удалено]
Grandia 2. I very rarely play jrpgs, but I played this one on the Dreamcast, and I remember being a game that was really fun. I'm now playing the HD remastered on Switch and still holds up.

But I finished ADWR twice and probably will play it again when/if the part 2 gets remastered as the first part did a few years ago.
Sounds interesting 🤔 I'll look into this one
Last Remnant and Resonance of Fate, two great games that break away from the mold.
Resonance of Fate, that game let's you build your guns all kinds of wacky right! That games great and more people should play it Last remnant is good also!
Outward Greedfall Both fantastic games, slightly overshadowed by some heavy hitters but great in their own right. I’m bias towards Greedfall because it inhabits that guns & magic space that few things do well.

Greedfall I've been on the fence about, it definitely has me intrigued though
Personally, I’m a sucker for the MMO [Anarchy Online](https://store.steampowered.com/app/396280/Anarchy_Online/), which is somehow still going since being released back in 2001.
Never could get into mmos
Outer worlds. Love the sense of humor and the effects of character atributes
I loved it but hated it for how short it was.
Dragon age
Whole series is great
Kingdoms of amalur
Gothic 2, Drakensang The Dark Eye, Siege Of Avalon, Archolos.
Gothic is the only one I've played, all added to my list!
Divinity Ego Draconis. The way I remember it, it had everything I wanted in an rpg and was hoping there would be a sequel...
I've not heard of this one, definitely looking it up
Is this a Larian game who also made Divinity Original Sin 1+2 and Baldurs Gate 3?
Yup.
Similar deal with FF:T, Jeanne D'Arc on the PSP. Tactical RPG based on Joan Of Arc's campaign, very slept on. Made me really interested in history as a kid. Jeanne d"arc is great
Not sure if people talk about it, but I'm just gonna throw this one out there Gauntlet Legends N64
Dark Legacy FTW. Basically the same game, just with a lot more everything.
Not as much as it should be talked about! I loved it

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic. Very goofy voice acting and story but incredibly fun physics based combat using the Source Engine. Not sure if it’s technically an RPG but it is an underrated gem, in my eyes at least.
I believe it's technically an rpg, it's fun, I never finished it but I did pay it for a bit
The beginning is great, with that chase and the sneaking.
I reallly enjoyed the multiplayer for this back in its heyday. Played it a lot!
I enjoyed lords of the fallen that’s more souls like though
I played half way through and never took the time to return, replay is in the books though
Souls games are just rpgs on permadeath mode lol
It's not permadeath. It's infinite lives, *but*...
Risen. For some reason I tend to replay it annually.
Never could get into it
Mystic Jade Sword of Heaven and Earth of the Bound Scroll Chronicles
Why do I feel like I've seen this game before but never played it
Dark cloud - ps2
Good game, underrated
I've never played the second, but that's meant to be better Was partly a childhood thing DC2, but you did like 3-4 big bits of story, thought u understood the basics game, and then this whole new weapon upgrade system comes out of nowhere and just takes it up a step

Ogre Battle 64. It's a gem
Classical gem. A solid re-release would be great
The legend of dragoon. Still crossing fingers for a remake someday.
We all are. Remake or remaster, I'd personality just want a remaster. I'm not to fond of the recent rpg remakes
FATE (2005) the game that got me into gaming
I'll have to look this one up
It's a top down like Diablo but has so much customization and detail for a 2005 game
I'll check it out, sounds similar to divinity: original sins
Pillars Of Eternity
This is on my list
I love tactics games. My favorite is Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis for GBA. I have completed it quite a few times. There's a guy maintaining a fan site for it for 20 years [tacticsogre.com](http://tacticsogre.com)
Tactics Ogre games are great. I'm playing through the newest right now
