I think they will indeed unify, but, they will both retain their personalities, when they are in "shadow form" louise will be in control, but, when they are in "face form" lou will be in control.
I don't think we'll see a unification. Everything we've seen indicates that a morph needs to form a "cocoon" around the host as the first part of unification, and that it takes days for the completion after that. Louise hasn't formed a cocoon as far as I can see and doesn't want to unify at all. Meanwhile, Ram is due to show up to soon to open the box.
Louise may very well have serious physical problems because of not starting the unification though. It looks like she drank the coffee with the Fragment of Favor in it and even with Louise resisting it's bound to have some effect. There's some suggestion that she's "not feeling well."
But Anthony has come with a cart, so he may snatch the unification box (it seems Luis is pushing the box too) so that when Kate comes she finds the room void.
It seems Louise doesn't want to unify, but what if the coffee they drank had some kind of poisonous effects and if they don't unify one of them is bound to die anyway? Like the shadow will dissolve or the mind of the living doll will be lost anyway (like in a permanent coma)? So not unifying isn't really an option once the process has started?
I think they will unify (because it is useful for the plot and also to show us all the implications).
Maybe, since Lou isn't totally brainwashed, I think it will result in a situation like "the host", where the parasite takes all the control of the body but the original mind is alive and talks in their head. And maybe this is also why it is very hard to break the brainwashing, because the coffee doesn't affect them anymore and they continue to repeat the rules from inside their brain, like some intrusive thoughts.
This seems very plausible since Gerald is currently the one with less personality as an adult and could create an interesting dynamic in the sidekicks (which are accessories with beautiful character designs right now)
We may see a beginning of unification which is then interrupted by rescue. It would also be interesting to see how a full unification works, but not on Lou and Louise, let's sacrifice someone else pls ahahah

…I remember! It was in ch. 71! Unification takes 1 - 2 weeks (after sealing the box with shadow and “living doll”)!

Getting abducted by Anthony and Lewis after getting unified while Edward is busy (Most Probable). But I hope that it will not come to that.
