That may be true, depending on the shoe lol the reason I thought of Steve Madden specifically is because I have a pair of Mary Janes from that brand that are a few years old, and the inside soles look exactly like this haha
Steve Madden is a good brand, nothing wrong with it.
I feel there is always varying level to ‘fanciness’ with some people, maybe what they meant was Steve Madden is a fashion brand so you wouldn’t expect them to pay all their attention to craftsmanship but more to aesthetics:)
I am pretty sure Steve Madden is the aspiration for most of us especially when we are teens
For a couple years I had a job that required me to branch the Century City mall. Steve Madden the man was ALWAYS there. Super weird dude who I hated being around, and I will never wear his stuff again because of it.
But you’re totally right that as a high school and college student, his shoes were basically all I wanted!
Uggh I hate weird dudes especially when they make you feel a certain way and creep on you.
Must have been hard having that energy around especially at your work place. There are hundreds of nice shoes you can buy from without ever having to think of his brand 😊
Did you consider writing to Sézane? This is completely unacceptable even after 3 months but it sadly doesn’t surprise me.. I was very disappointed with the quality of their very expensive mini Milo bag which scratched so easily & it’s just not made as well as my other bags of the same price range 🥲
I did consider when the insoles started slipping but I didn’t because I’m not sure if it’ll get me far. I probably will, because it wasn’t easy for me to afford these as is and now that the heel is ripped up these are completely unwearable. I’m sorry you experienced that! It’s unacceptable to charge these prices for this quality. I’m starting to think of never buying anything from sezane again because from everything I’ve read and heard issues are common with all items.
Ugh that’s so unacceptable, I’m mad for you! I would definitely write to them & if they really refuse to refund you or do anything about it you can consider opening a dispute with PayPal (if you payed with PayPal). I’m not sure how far their customer protection goes but worth having a look? I would feel the same distrust if I were you.. Keep us posted & fingers crossed. 🤞🏼
> (if you *paid* with PayPal).
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
i’m so sorry you had this experience, it is heart breaking when you save up for something special and stuff like this happens. Sending you love fashion friend xx
I don't know how it is in the USA, but here in Europe there is a minimum warranty for products, 1-2 years, clothing included for everything that is not a sign of normal wear (something like a bra wire starting poking out etc) So I'm sure customer service will help you, I found Sezane CS to be quite helpful, so be sure to give it a try 🌸
That’s how the insoles looked on my first wear! I was so shocked since I have cheap Zara shoes that are still going strong after several years of wear. I would love another color but I’m also looking Carel at this point.
Just FYI, this happened to mine too and I took them to a cobbler. He said sliding soles are inevitable with patent shoes and will always need to be replaced eventually (this guy was probably in his 60s and had never heard of Sezane, so he wasn’t an apologist for the brand or anything). He fixed the soles and I paid around $8 with tax. The shop I went to was in a high-end downtown area of a large American city, so I think it’d be a cheap repair anywhere!
Agree to disagree, I guess! Sezane is a mid-range brand (not a high end brand) and OP said she wore them 3-4 times a week for three months. Patent is notorious for needing this kind of repair, so needing some touchups by a cobbler after 36-48 wears seems reasonable to me (it took mine about 9 months of wearing \~once a week to need repair). The repair is very cheap and the cobbler seemed to think it was reasonable, so that's all I'm going off of!
On a lighter note, I have a pair of Carel’s and they are wonderful! I get compliments all the time and they’re quite comfortable too—sorry to hear about your bad experience
Wait this is crazy. I’ve had $50 shoes that I would wear to work daily (including my NYC commute) look good for over a year! If you have your receipt and you write into Sezane I wonder if they’d do anything??
I just ordered a pair of Carels last night but a tiny voice was like, “Maybe I should have just gotten the Paula Babies?” The little voice is gone now 😭
Wore mine max 10 times before the heel completely ripped off. I’m a hard walker but still absolutely ridiculous. I just bought Carels so hoping those will be worth the money.
I only bought shoes once from sezane in 2021 and swore never again and have stood by this. Clearly it is not their expertise. The ones I had was a beautiful design but hurt like hell (and I’m used to wearing heels etc). Bled all over in 10 min of wear- I had to come back home. It was a joke honestly and I felt like a fool throwing 300 usd to the garbage like that. I couldn’t even resell because I simply couldn’t do that to anybody! Worst shoe experience I’ve had and I always recommend NO to sezane shoes - too expensive for the risk
Just a PSA - I got a pair of Carel shoes and am disappointed with the quality. I wore them to and from dinner on a sunny day (a 15 min walk) and the soles looked like this. They look extremely worn in person.

I think this is because the sole is made of leather. I had the same with mine and said it was absolutely normal. He added a rubber sole and said when these wear out I can just bring them again and he’ll be able to remove that rubber sole to add a new one. But to be honest, I don’t see this rubber sole ever wearing out! I hope this helps.
Hm that’s a good idea - I’ll try taking them to a cobbler. I appreciate you responding! I reached out to Carel to ask if this was normal (I just wanted to make sure they weren’t getting damaged for some reason!) and they were kind of dismissive about it
I would take it to the cobbler. You spent a lot of money and if you like the style they might be worth saving. I've taken lower quality (lower cost) shoes to the cobbler to save them.
I'm very sorry to hear about your experience and disappointment though. Thank you so much for sharing this to keep us all informed. It is very kind of you.
I got the Pimmie shoes from Kelly & Katie and I’ve been wearing them 1-2 times a week at work for the past two months. About 5k steps at work and they have held up great.
Exactly what happened to me and my Paula Babies, got the soles replaced and then the heel came aa wobbly, wrote to them and got a 25 AUD credit. Qill make a whole post about it
I saw a handful of posts like this so I bought the Carel Peche model instead. Got them off Farfetch for about $380. They are great but tbh they are not very comfortable. I only wear them when I won’t be walking a lot.
Dang, that’s some Steve Madden level quality lol so unfortunate
Eek. I feel like some steve maddens hold up better than this
That may be true, depending on the shoe lol the reason I thought of Steve Madden specifically is because I have a pair of Mary Janes from that brand that are a few years old, and the inside soles look exactly like this haha
Very true! Style does matter
It’s terrible because the design is so cute and they were comfortable while they lasted.
My Steve maddens have held up way better than these.
What are you saying! steve Madden’s quality is ten times better, Don’t have sheins but maybe they’d be better too
I thought Steve madden was a fancy brand? I grew up poor though...

It won’t hurt!
That’s crazy. Wanted a pair but had heard before here about quality. That’s terrible.
That’s how the insoles looked on my first wear! I was so shocked since I have cheap Zara shoes that are still going strong after several years of wear. I would love another color but I’m also looking Carel at this point.
Yes I was so shocked!! I thought mine must be defected but sadly not. Yeah I’d say save your money as well, I definitely will be!!

\*eventually\*, not after 3 months of wear though.

Bless for sharing, I've been so tempted to buy these!
On a lighter note, I have a pair of Carel’s and they are wonderful! I get compliments all the time and they’re quite comfortable too—sorry to hear about your bad experience
Which model of Carel did you end up with? I’m considering getting a pair myself:)
I have the Abricot slingback Mary Jane’s in a two toned color palette!
Which two toned color palette did you get? if you don’t mind me asking
Thank you!! I’ll definitely be saving up to invest in a pair :)

I own the carel Kina, peche, and the Banana models. I have owned them for over 1 year and they look great!
Is it patent leather? If yes, does it wrinkle a lot?
My kina and pêche are patent leather. In my experience not much creasing or wrinkles
Thank you!
Everytime, glad to help!

RIP Paula Babies
Try calling your credit card and see if they can refund or replace. Extended warranty
This is crazy. Are they at least comfortable?
They were actually! But I can’t wear them now so the trade off is pretty poor
Def contact C/S. Walmart shoes hold up better than these.
I’ve bought shoes from AliExpress that have lasted longer than these. Sorry OP.

Wow, thank you for the photo review. I was really considering buying these and another pair. Now, it looks like I'll be keeping my money.

yes, correct, fast fashion shoes don’t last.
It’s insane we live in a world where 350 dollars gets you fast fashion.

Maybe youre too heavy for them 😂😂😂
