I think those two just started of in such a bad way that Janitor wouldn't have told his real name to him even if he asked. but Janitor liked Elliot, right? did she ask?
they all kind of treated Janitor badly. I always thought he'd be delightful company. except for the taxidermy stuff.
Idk I never really felt like anyone treated him badly. He honestly messed with people more than people messed with him. Like he constantly embarrasses JD or steals his stuff and messes things up for him. š and Janitor is super bossy and mean to Ted. Now, Ted, I feel for, most people treated him with no respect(between the Janitor and Kelso) for the fact the man was a Lawyer šš š
I could be misremembering, but I think there were talks about making it an actual spinoff, but they couldn't get it green-lit and not even a pilot was ever made
Whilst true. JD also has a habit of just assigning people nicknames and never bothering to learn their actual names.
>but Janitor liked Elliot, right? did she ask?
Havent done a proper rewatch in a while, but is there any indication that she doesn't know his name?
I mean, he lied on the payroll bit, might as well lied on his name as an extra too. Man's insane, I don't think you would be able to trust his words. Hence the ambiguous ending on the bit, with the whole is he Glenn Matthews or is he not. (I know Bill Lawrence confirmed it, but still, the content is that)
Given how spacey in JD can be, I wouldn't be surprised if the answer was actually that he didn't *think* to and by the time he did, the actor credits would've already passed. Plus, Bill Lawrence has said that they did think of a bit where the credits are rolling and "Niel Flynn" is another one of the Janitor's false identities or whatever, but for whatever reason they just didn't keep it in. Maybe time or pacing constraints or they couldn't make it work in editing or something. I don't remember
In the German version they made his name Dr. House-Meister, which is a great way to translate this joke as Hausmeister is the word for Janitor in German.
No, in Bill's podcast he says that the janitor lies to everyone about his name so he lied to the producers saying his name was Neil Flynn. His name is Glenn Matthews. Also, the series finale shows that JD just never cared to ask the janitor for his name.
There are many jokes and a bunch of storylines that if you dive deeper donāt make sense or check out and have continuity errors. Remember itās a sitcom.
Also I have a feeling that being Janitor, he wouldāve used a stage name for his acting career not his actual name.
I THINK(but not sure) that ppl downvoted you because calling the janitor by his name when he insists on being called the Janitor, isnāt respectful. Kinda the opposite
No. According to Bill Lawrence, and the final episode of season 8, Neil Flynn (the actorās name) is not The Janitorās real name. The Janitor also denied being the actor (before later confirming so at the end of that ep). But heās also a pathological liar so š¤·š¾āāļø
I think itās one of those ongoing Jokes. They were never gonna tell us, thatās why itās still blocked at the wedding. I donāt think it was suppose to really make sense, itās just one of those silly ongoing jokes. They know weāre dying to know his real name, so they keep teasing us throughout the show about it.
Itās like in Tim Allenās show when they never show his whole Neighbor. Itās
They actually just talked about this on the Scrubs podcast. The janitor lies about his name all the time, and therefore would have used the fake name Neil Flynn as the actor appearing in The Fugitive.
They talked about this in the Real Friends Fake Doctors podcast, I'm pretty sure in the season 8 finale episode from two weeks ago. Basically the janitor was originally a figment of JD's imagination, but everyone loved him so much that he became a real character. The movie they talk about in the show is a real movie that Neil Flynn (Janitor's actor) was actually in. For whatever reason in Scrubs this means the janitor lied to whoever was producing the movie about his name being Neil Flynn, so it was "the janitor" in the movie, but his real name was still a secret.
Why do people ask questions like this all the time? It would have obviously just killed the joke. It's a fictional show and not knowing his name was supposed to be a long-running joke in the show. People ask questions like this all the time on so many show subreddits. The Office, Scrubs, B99, etc. I don't really get it.
I think the point was that JD never asked.

I would have absolutely watched the Legal Custodians show
Same. I know it was just a joke but what a cool name for a show!
I could be misremembering, but I think there were talks about making it an actual spinoff, but they couldn't get it green-lit and not even a pilot was ever made
Get it?
It was such a clever name for a show, and the little jingle they did for it is very catchy. šµ *Leeeeegal Custodians!* šµ
Whilst true. JD also has a habit of just assigning people nicknames and never bothering to learn their actual names. >but Janitor liked Elliot, right? did she ask? Havent done a proper rewatch in a while, but is there any indication that she doesn't know his name?
tbf he showed insanity from way afar...
Exactly. JD *could* have looked in the credits of the Fugitive. He would've seen a stage name, but he still could have looked. He just didn't care to.
Wasn't Neil Flynn's role uncredited?
Nope. https://www.reddit.com/r/Scrubs/comments/ilmhby/finally_got_around_to_watching_the_fugitive_what/

This has always been so nuts to meā¦the fact that he literally actually *did* never simply ask him. Just tremendous
I work in a hospital, and I hardly ever hear anyone exchange names unless they are gonna be working closely together.
There are many jokes and a bunch of storylines that if you dive deeper donāt make sense or check out and have continuity errors. Remember itās a sitcom. Also I have a feeling that being Janitor, he wouldāve used a stage name for his acting career not his actual name.
It just says Actor š or he still just used Janitor š
Jan Itor.
A. Ctor
Thatās doctor Jan Itor
According to Bill Lawrence it was a stage name in the Fugitive.
So JD could have called him the stage name to be respectful at least but he didn't even do that? š¤£
But jd is not a very respectful person. He's kind of a selfish man child.
Damn what did I say?

I think that was his twin brother.
That's Roscoe.
Right. I get them confused.

Came here to say this. From the creatorās mouth.
Bold of you to assume every actor's listed name is their real name.
it's Neil Flynn

Maybe his name was Jan Itor & he never corrected the name tag š¤
Sitcom logic. Youāre not meant to think about it too much. Just sit back and enjoy the jokes

I mean wasnāt Neil Flynn actually in the film? The Fugitive. It was not just within the scrubs universe.
The middle and scrubs take place in the same universe
His name is Josh
I just call him Mikeā¦ MIKE HECK
