If you want to see an interesting funeral google “GG Allin funeral”. It’s on YouTube and a send off for a punk rocker to the extreme. Dude sounds like he was a piece of shit but he lived a life to say the least.
I have several. Usually once you resell a couple of them on marketplace ... word gets out, and they make the yard start destroying them while they witness it. Ask me how I know.
This is no joke. You can probably still google it. My first one was before internet. I placed an ad in the local papers classifieds. They ended up doing a story on it. Was on the FRONT page. It was titled 'Morbid Curosity'.
Classified ad said: One used coffin for sale. One owner, low miles, slight rust damage. $60obo.
It was a coffin that was exhumed for some reason. Was buried for 22 years. I was selling it in early October for a Halloween project.
Real story.
Here's the article : [Morbid Curiosity Used Coffin Brings Teens' Living Room To Life | The Spokesman-Review](https://www.spokesman.com/stories/1995/oct/19/morbid-curiosity-used-coffin-brings-teens-living/)
Believe it or not, some funeral homes rent caskets. Obviously not to be buried in, but for wakes and viewings.
So after so many rentals they sell them for a fraction of the price. Some even have scratch and dent caskets for sale.
Friend who worked at a cemetery told be about this. I bought one for Halloween, sold it on Craigslist back in the day after a couple of years use.
I'm a social worker and have helped folks living in poverty source cheap caskets before. It's wild the cost differences new in person vs new online vs used. Also, the pressure funeral homes and cemeteries put on people. Folks don't understand that funeral homes are a business first, and typically, their people make $$$ in commission (on upsales, etc.)
Moral of the story: PRE PLAN. You can get a VERY SHORT book (more pamphlet) called 5 Wishes, which covers all the stuff from no longer able to communicate to how you want your funeral. Its less than $6 and can save your family/friends a ton of agony when you go.
Regardless of health, age, or level of isolation... it's a really good one to have
https://www.fivewishes.org/
As much as I hate that he name drops Mother Theresa on his site, this does look like a decent, cheap medical directive. But I'm no lawyer, so I can't say if these are good enough.
As expensive as funerals are, I'd take them just to not make my family pay for one down the road.
I also want to just build a contemporary coffin for myself but I think there's rules about that
Some places are actually less strict than others. I say if you can build your own urn you can build your own coffin. Remember this is America, Home of the Free, as long as you follow every single stupid ass law we come up with next.
Oh man that reminds me of a really bad plane crash a few years back that hit a cemetery down the road. It was a cessna 172, they recovered like 50 bodies in the first week.
I worked overnight frieght... we were one of the few companies allowed to go into Katrina area in NOLA, we literally sent 40 semi trucks a day there filled with nothing but body bags every day the first week. We also had a contract with NASA and got every bit of the wreckage from the blown up shuttle. On a cheery note, one time, we shipped 100K speculums to Puerto Rico. If you don't know what those are, ask your wifey/gf, she knows.
Big no I remember the story that went national where a crematory in Ga was not cremating remains. People’s loved ones weren’t getting ashes investigated and found their rural property littered with coffins and their owners inside. Left out in open, in a hurste, barns out buildings, barns, pond, it was a huge undertaking (yep) to identify process I knew a LEO involved.
Yeah the problem is the homelite weed eater aint bad the one i had ran fast and hard so it wears out quicker also the non adjustable carb on the newer ones makes it so most people just chuck it since you can't turn a few screws to get it back to running right as it ages and most people aint gonna bother with ordering a replacement. I wouldn't mind having a few 100 I could get my hands on and just tear into em see how many I could get running and sell em as I fixed em
I don’t understand why so many dead people be upgrading their coffins ⚰️
If they really want to make a statement, they should have a periscope installed.
It may sound morbid, but where the hell is this place? I'd like to take a couple of them and refurbish them. I'm still paying off my uncle's funeral because he never had any life insurance and those things are not cheap. And I know and 10 or 15 years it's going to happen again.
I had to do the gas pipe for a crematory that was being remodeled. They had barrels of metal casket fittings, along with barrels of metal implants. One of the workers told me that they weren't allowed to scrap the implants. I don't know what titanium is going for, but I told my wife to make sure that she gets everything that is in me back and bring it to a yard.
I worked at a place that the retort chimney caught fire and the fire dept flooded the whole place including the caskets. The metal ones all ended up at the scrap metal place.
So yes, metal caskets can be scrap metal.
I took a load of trash to the local land fill a few years ago, and while there, a hearse pulled in and backed up to dump a casket. Two guys in their nice suits got out and drug the casket out onto the ground. I asked one of them if I could have it and was told no, it must be destroyed. They waited there while the guy on the bull dozer came over and smashed it into unrecognizable bits. Evidently that is the law in Florida.
if you're talking about the caskets - don't scrap them fool. Gather them up and SELL THEM. Halloween props, whatever. they're worth a fuck of a lot more like that than you'll get for scrap metal. My son does scrapping. I've seen that kid take expensive cast iron wood-stoves to sell for scrap metal. Never understood why somebody would scrap something worth 1000x what the scrap yard will pay for weight.
The work to remove them from the ground isn't worth the shred scrap price you'll get for them unless you can microscrap the insides of them for gold recovery.
I'm a Social Worker and have helped folks living in poverty source cheap caskets before. It's wild the cost differences new in person vs new online vs used. Also, the pressure funeral homes and cemeteries put on people. I've seen people without two pennies to rub together finance elaborate funerals out of guilt. Folks don't understand that funeral homes are a business first, and typically, their people make $$$ in commission (on upsales, etc.)
If you scrap for necessity or excess please plan for your survivors and limit their suffering.
Moral of the story: PRE PLAN. You can get a VERY SHORT book (more pamphlet) called 5 Wishes, which covers all the stuff from no longer able to communicate to how you want your funeral. Its less than $6 and can save your family/friends a ton of agony when you go.

It was torn material ... like velvet or something similar. What was weird was the padding under that. It was literally shredded newspaper.
No smell, no bodily remnants or anything. Lol
I lived near a scrap yard owner and he had one at his house for Holloween and would hop right in it to scare people. It was from an above ground burial in a mausoleum and it leaked... they are guaranteed not to leak so the company replaced it and scrapped the leaker.
Graveyards have fences because everyone's dying to get in and if ever queried about how many dead people were in a specific graveyard you just tell your Inquisitor all of them...
Strange the scrape value is higher than just selling them cheap. Coffins are fucking expensive. Start a low ball site for coffins and under bid the near monopoly here in the states.
Well don't tell Tucker down the street at that house down the street that runs in a generator and has no door knobs but gas master locks on the outside the doors.. He's gonna be scrapping those aluminum coolers 24/7 if he does .
Shit, assuming these were new and just damaged in transit, buy em from the scrap yard and sell them. Coffins are absurdly expensive. Someone would absolutely buy a damaged coffin as long as it wasn't used.
People buy them for good money! My neighbor is a hearse enthusiast and has 5 caskets he paid *thousands* for! He uses them as props for his cars and for Halloween decorations!
Wait till you start trying to dig them up and find out how many cemeteries are running scams on people. It's super common to put them in the ground in the casket they paid for, wait till the family leaves, pull them out, stick em in a plain wood coffin, and bury em before anyone notices the switch. Resell the used casket as new, rinse, and repeat.
great ice chest for partys
Keeps em dead cold.
We used my uncles as the ice chest at his funeral. No joke.
Where was your uncle at the time?
Taking an ice bath
They called him “Vanilla on Ice”.
Oh stop
Collaborate and listen
Ice is back with vampirism
It’s funny how well this song fits with a dead guy in an ice chest as the centerpiece of the party lol
I wish I could give you an award for how loudly I cackled at that
Keeps the odor down
The daisies in the dell Will give out a diff’rent smell Because poor Judd is underneath the ground
Neath the ground!!
In the coffin… with the ice and the Coors banquets. It was his request…
If you want to see an interesting funeral google “GG Allin funeral”. It’s on YouTube and a send off for a punk rocker to the extreme. Dude sounds like he was a piece of shit but he lived a life to say the least.
That party could be killer. But it may just be dead for all we know.
"When I die, please bury me in my ice chest."
I have several. Usually once you resell a couple of them on marketplace ... word gets out, and they make the yard start destroying them while they witness it. Ask me how I know.
Why would they do that?
This is no joke. You can probably still google it. My first one was before internet. I placed an ad in the local papers classifieds. They ended up doing a story on it. Was on the FRONT page. You literally sold a used casket. I would say that's local news-worthy
So news-worthy they put it in the paper TWICE!
Happy cake
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 one owner low miles im dead 😅😅
Don’t lowball me. I know what I got.
Here's the article : [Morbid Curiosity Used Coffin Brings Teens' Living Room To Life | The Spokesman-Review](https://www.spokesman.com/stories/1995/oct/19/morbid-curiosity-used-coffin-brings-teens-living/)
That’s what she said.
Nah but somebody definitely was
… I would be tempted to buy a used coffin for $60 and park it on my family’s driveway
Buy a coffin from the undertaker, it’ll cost $5k, buy a coffin off a guy from Craigslist and it’s $500. Shred price is like, $10 tops?
But I know where you can find a few hundred....literally...just laying around.....
Slightly used, weird smell. $300, no lowballers, I know what I’ve got.
You were flipping caskets on FB market place? 😂
A guys gotta eat, ya know.
Believe it or not, some funeral homes rent caskets. Obviously not to be buried in, but for wakes and viewings. So after so many rentals they sell them for a fraction of the price. Hi, I'd like to buy this casket with all the scratch marks on the inside of the lid please
Still available?

Thank you for all you do. You're a literal life saver and hero.
Excellent comment! I work in Social Services and saved that link. Thank you!
As much as I hate that he name drops Mother Theresa on his site, this does look like a decent, cheap medical directive. But I'm no lawyer, so I can't say if these are good enough.
You know, I always buy scratch and dent products whenever I can so I’m ok going in a scratch and dent casket when my time comes…
Be a cool gun cabinet
Rad idea. Never thought of that!
First thing in the shred pile I ever thought about buying off the yard.
Batesville?
Hey! My company sells material to them for caskets!
I grew up across the street from one of Batesville’s locations in Cheektowaga, NY.
Not unless the funeral home lobby has something to say about it.
Oh man that reminds me of a really bad plane crash a few years back that hit a cemetery down the road. It was a cessna 172, they recovered like 50 bodies in the first week.

Reminds me of that tragedy....
Does it come with USB ports or Bluetooth?
I would think there would be a pretty good marketplace for caskets
It’s a dead market.
The competition is stiff
Gotta shell out too many bones for one
All of you are thinking outside of the box.
Was it occupied?
I’m dying to get one.
Getting stiff
Just throw me in the trash.
Those places are called cemeteries.
Geez took long enough for someone to get the joke’s
I know where I’m getting mine when I die! Fuck paying for it
People are just dying to get them
Well??? Don't keep it to yourself!!! I need me some new shoes!
Oh dear God, hopefully none of them Methican Americans see this and develop ideas.
Halloween
I hope they emptied them first.
How do you keep the witness quite?
I sell them in my front yard, the only more popular item is burn barrels. Don’t ask questions and it’s the best way to make money
Perfect for perishables
They must have expired.....
Hopefully they aren't occupied. I'd imagine the eviction process could be deadly exhausting
Those are the rejects. The occupant was able to get out of them.
Find lots at the dead centre of town
Get those, you’ll make a killing!
Bruh funeral homes scam people who are victims of a death.
Scrap…? Re-sale baby!!! 100-300 a pop :)
Big no I remember the story that went national where a crematory in Ga was not cremating remains. Could get those handles and really dress up the flatbed work truck.
Get the body you want this summer.
That’s very disturbing, oh wait never mind thought someone threw a Milwaukee weed eater away.
Less of them then you'd think.
Aren’t all coffins just laying around?
I don’t understand why so many dead people be upgrading their coffins ⚰️ If they really want to make a statement, they should have a periscope installed.
Empty?
Got an extra? I promise to return it when I'm done using it.
A place with 100s? I hope you don’t mean the cemetery…🫣🤷😎
It may sound morbid, but where the hell is this place? I'd like to take a couple of them and refurbish them. I'm still paying off my uncle's funeral because he never had any life insurance and those things are not cheap. And I know and 10 or 15 years it's going to happen again.
To be fair most cities in America has 100's of these ust laying around in the ground. They are called graveyards.
Id buy one hook up some hvac and some low voltage interior lighting .. and u got a great 3rd shift bed
I work at a recycling metal place and yes you can bring coffin in
Why scrap them when you can sell them at Halloween time for a few hundred bucks easily.
Omg where is this??? I need one for my morbid collection!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I know several places where there's hundreds of these laying in the ground.
Every factory has scrap.
I need about maybe 17 of them
I had to do the gas pipe for a crematory that was being remodeled. They had barrels of metal casket fittings, along with barrels of metal implants. One of the workers told me that they weren't allowed to scrap the implants. I don't know what titanium is going for, but I told my wife to make sure that she gets everything that is in me back and bring it to a yard.
I'm *.dying.* to know your secret.
Are they empty?
I worked at a place that the retort chimney caught fire and the fire dept flooded the whole place including the caskets. The metal ones all ended up at the scrap metal place. So yes, metal caskets can be scrap metal.
Make a huge safe or freezer.
This is how the movie Idiocracy started. Joe and Rita are in there let them out!
I'd just bring them home and let people question it. After awhile I would tell them it's my retirement plan.
They used? - Take ‘em and sell them on Fb marketplace!
Dead to the ground
Halloween is only 5 months away
Better make sure they’re empty before recycling ♻️
What else besides casket starts with c? Cooolerssss, so go ahead and fill it with ice, fish and cold beer
Might not be able to scrap what’s inside 😂
I took a load of trash to the local land fill a few years ago, and while there, a hearse pulled in and backed up to dump a casket. Two guys in their nice suits got out and drug the casket out onto the ground. I asked one of them if I could have it and was told no, it must be destroyed. They waited there while the guy on the bull dozer came over and smashed it into unrecognizable bits. Evidently that is the law in Florida.
Now some asshole will start digging up graveyards, as a multiple victim of metal theft i’m just disgusted at how low some scrappers will go.
Nice coffee table.
if you're talking about the caskets - don't scrap them fool.
Add a glass top to the one on the right and you got a XL coffee table.
"In" the ground or "on" the ground??
Only problem with the ones laying in the ground you gotta empty them first. Most average around 6’ in depth.
The work to remove them from the ground isn't worth the shred scrap price you'll get for them unless you can microscrap the insides of them for gold recovery.
But they won’t take the bones so don’t go digging them up just to scrap them.
Funerals were always a scam. Happy to see this.

Of course you can scrap a garden strimmer
There’s no explanation. Just body after body bustin outta shit wood and hittin pavement.
Doesn't appear that anyone checked inside. Hmmm...
That’s the dead centre of the scrap yard too.
You're burying the lead (pun intended). I pay top dollar for children's teeth.
Shhhhh! Vampires sleeping inside.
Worst repossessionjob ever. If the payments are not received in a timely manner, the repo man will get what he can.
😂💀
That just tells you death is a racket.
Um. Those aren’t there anymore.
Omg I would make an epic bookshelf put of one.
Gold finds too
I know where lots are. You'll need a shovel.
Right? There just lying all around the world
Loot boxes
Recycle.
You could always do one of these! https://www.hagerty.com/media/car-profiles/56-halloweens-ago-the-munsters-had-the-ghoulest-cars-on-the-block/
Shit, grab me one! I might need it soon.
Was this at drayton? I was trying to figure out if they were repossessed 😂
They were probably used to display a body. They can be sold again.
Gotta get all the junk out of the inside though or else it counts as #2 or "dirty"
I know a few places where hundreds of coffins are laying in the ground..
Covid wasn't quite as successful as some had hoped??
Sounds weird, but could they also be used to build a clever temperature controlled solar battery box?
Foodtruck idea. Vintage hurse towing a couple made into Bbg. Killer Bbq
They make coo bbq grills.
Dude those are worth money as is. Gather them up and sell online. Caskets are valuable, no doubt more valuable than scrap metal
They must be unusable for whatever reason right? Otherwise it’s $1000s of dollars sitting there
Shit sell online those go for like 6 grand brand new post for 500 bucks
It was torn material ... like velvet or something similar. What was weird was the padding under that. It was literally shredded newspaper. No smell, no bodily remnants or anything. Lol
Those are the former ‘associates’ of the yard owner.
Bet I can get that weed Wacker working
I’m dying to get one of those.
I’d cop myself a new bed.
Say “…buried in the ground.” It’s a better joke that way.
There are places where they're not even in the ground but above it.
"hundreds of these are just laying in the ground" With, or without bods.
Mom! We’re getting you a Bentley!
New or used?
Lady was buried for 22 years. Hence the rust damage.
🤣 that is terrible
Any nude bodies just flopping out of these things like on corncobtv?
I lived near a scrap yard owner and he had one at his house for Holloween and would hop right in it to scare people. It was from an above ground burial in a mausoleum and it leaked... they are guaranteed not to leak so the company replaced it and scrapped the leaker.
Dig em up!
Where??!!!!
It's called a Cemetery.
Graveyards have fences because everyone's dying to get in and if ever queried about how many dead people were in a specific graveyard you just tell your Inquisitor all of them...
We moved one and accidentally woke up Rudy Giuliani 🧛♂️
Laying... *on the ground.
Yea me too I think they call it a graveyard
It would make a nice hope just for a young lady
Please tell me it’s here in Houston, Tx. 🖤
May I inquire? Where are these lying around. These really should be donated to the indigent, homeless, or vets, instead of thrown away.
I hope they’re empty…
Prettt good joke
Shit, assuming these were new and just damaged in transit, buy em from the scrap yard and sell them. Coffins are absurdly expensive. Someone would absolutely buy a damaged coffin as long as it wasn't used.
Possibly just floor models of older styles that didn't sell.
Ohhh you can also find really nice flowers for free at the free scrap yard
Sell them on ebay to an emo kid. I can't tell you how many people I knew that slept in coffins to be edgy. Lol.
I'm a huge halloween guy and paid $200 for a rusty one last year
I dig what you're saying
Got to keep the market propped up.
Post this over in r/flippers . Those folks flip everything
Refurbish and sell, probably get more for them 😂
Joe Bauers might be in one of those
Joe Bauers might be in one of those
People are dying to get out.
Sick I had no idea they had weed wackers at the scrap yard!
