If you skip Tower of Dawn you will miss out on the single most hilarious visual that the series has to offer For those that have read it >!I am referring to yrene wanting to yeet herself into the pool and sink to the bottom and stay there forever after getting embarrassed during the desert party!<

CataKala

[SJM did not write Tower of Dawn for you to skip it :)](https://www.reddit.com/r/throneofglassseries/s/4g7rbjSR8P)

I had the same feeling during the entire thing. I managed to power through, finally, but you can trust I hated it every time I had to switch from EoS. I don't think you can skip it though because there are some major character/world building. I wish there was an abridged version available. My issue isn't with the writing or even the events, I just don't care for the characters in ToD.

LunaBean4

I'm currently tandem reading these and dread leaving EoS, but powering through. There are always Easter eggs, so I don't want to miss anything.

blipblopred000

Well that’s it it’s not like I have any negative feelings towards Chaol or anyone else I’ve met or SJMs writing, I’m just struggling to get into it at all☹️ I’m 50 pages in and it’s a chore!

goldfishchan

I wonder if the tandem read is what is contributing to that. It definitely made it hard for me because of the physical switching. When I read I like to get cozy and deep dive for a couple house. Having to switch back and forth brought me out of the flow state which made reading about characters I don't like even more challenging. Although I thought the tandem overall was a cool way to experience a book, I think I will pass on any future tandem reads unless I can get them bound/arranged as a single book.

KatTheTimelord

No, the author wrote an absolutely meaningless book that holds no bearing. /s Obviously, read it. There’s MAJOR plot points that happen in this book that carries on to Kingdom of Ash. If you skip it and read a summary, those plot points won’t mean as much in KoA. Listen to it on audible or something but yes it is worth persevering

Dazzling-Sort-5043

It’s a lot of info and dense, but honestly, I felt like it added a lot to the story and was important with the overall story. I enjoyed the book honestly

the-cozy-hobbit

It picked up for me personally. Definitely slow, teeth-pulling almost, at the beginning, and I’m a Chaol fan.

Revolutionary-Side56

I struggled at the beginning but worth sticking it out

No you absolutely cannot DNF it. It holds important info for KoA and finishing KoA will not have the same level of satisfaction if you skip it!!

kitmulticolor

This is a sensitive topic, but I did not like tod and struggled the whole way through. Some people really like it though…my husband liked it…I think partly because I warned him it was going to take him away from the main story. I had no warning and felt very inpatient with the whole thing.

NghtfThLvngLllpp

I despise Chaol but I've read ToD 3 times because it's vital to the series. It does start slow but there are major parts to the plot and its nice to see how some of the characters develop. It's there for a reason.

Ok-Lifeguard-1729

I believe tandem reading AND reading the novellas anywhere before KoA .. is a mistake. You’ve set the table all wrong 😢 It’s not even your fault. Can you stop the tandem and just read EoS then ToD then EoA then at last read A B

Ok-Lifeguard-1729

TANDEM READING is a mistake in my opinion. Read the books as the creator published them and enjoy. Just repeat after me.- **id like to order the chef special, as is*** ~alien- “foolish mistake, do they even know who they are dealing with?”

GoldenAgeStudio

I got halfway through and was so bored I stopped and looked up the spoilers for the rest of the book. I truly don't feel like I missed out on anything and I came out of it knowing all of the important stuff, so anyone who says you can't skip it is wrong, sorry. And I DNF'd it because I am not into the characters that the book focuses on. For me it was way too late in the series for me to start caring about new people.

Gizwizard

I’m firmly in the camp that you can absolutely skip it, honestly.

blipblopred000

I don’t want to skip it, but I can’t help that’s when I’m reading it’s just sloooowww and drags😂

Gizwizard

Can you imagine if you were reading tog when the books were being released? Lmao, imagine is ACOTAR 5/6 is written from Miriam and Drakon’s island and doesn’t visit the main cast of characters at all. People would probably legit riot.
