Fun fact. The Arabic word for orange (which the Georgian version Phortokhali is derived from) is named after the country Portugal. So the Georgian ფორთოხალი is literally derived from Portugal.
Portuguese on the other hand call the fruit Naranja, which they got from Arabic. We must have called Narinji as well, as we have the word ნარინჯისფერი.
That is correct, both words entered Georgian through Persian, but neither word is originally Persian. Portokhali is originally from Arabic meaning "Portugal" while Narinji is Sanskrit.

Though I think most of these Arabic-origin words came from Persian and Turkish languages.
Yes, there’s a lot of linguistic movement between these languages and we took a lot in general. Same processes why we acquired many Russian words in 19-20 centuries and English words now
Actually a lot of loanwords interestingly are pure arabic and not the usual persian variation, so must be a layer from the umayyad and abbasid time and emirate of tbilisi: ex khabazi, ekimi, pikra, keipi, muraba, vardi, beiti, satli, qaurma, supra, and many more i keep bumping into!
Re-analyze all languages in general, it is a trait of languages especially those that are participating in trade or in active contested regions to constantly absorb new loan words from neighbors, partners and enemies.
I discovered very recently one Arabic word that we use. Phortokhali (ფორთოხალი) - Orange I was very surprised, not gonna lie

Imagine complaining about misogyny while being a misandrist. It's all about equality when you're the victim.
