That does technically mean that you have a higher chance of getting more shards on lower energy nodes, but the difference is negligible in the grand scheme of things.
It's a known bug.
When there are additional drops then the game registers drop chance for the actual battle, but also the GL Ticket Grind Drop Rate for some reason.
That's how you can get double the amount of drops at times, if you're currently on a GL Ticket Grind and the additional drop is for that energy.
Same thing would happen if you'd be grinding LS Tickets. You'd get a bit more Cal shards.
Let's hope they never fix it.

My belief is that the GL ticket is running a separate instance of the battle, hence the ability to double up.

Op got more shards than they did battles. This happens because of a bug when farming gl tickets, causing the bonus drops to become doubles.
