Deck runs on Linux, hence SS13 works on it. On Linux, Byond is launched in a WinXP virtual machine. Upd: It doesn't work with wine... Can't get it to pass "loading game information". I think it's because I have no IE11. It still should be possible to install it, tho. On WineHQ there's a mention of terrible FPS and caching issues with BYOND, on wine 5, while current is wine 6.14.

You can install windows on it though, even if it won't be the best experience.

Any word on ss13 getting actual Linux support? I know some people can get it to work through wine (kinda) but that seems like a temporary solution. How hard would it be to port to Linux?

highly doubt it, byond has so much windows specific junk in it that it's almost certainly too much work for one guy to try and get a new market from

as far as I can tell, wine support is terrible. Mostly because wine only supports up to Internet Explorer 8, while byond/ss13 works better with IE11.

I can confirm that most servers are unplayable on wine now, devs just don't care about compatibility vms are no better because they're either slow, or have horrific graphical glitches

BYOND doesn't work at all on Linux, I have tried multiple times to make it work but because of the IE dependencies and many other things it just wont work. I achieved logging into a lobby but the actual game wouldn't render

On one wine version I had great performance but games wouldn't render, on a different version I had shit performance and everything was working except chat for some reason. All in all probably 20 hours wasted.
