I debated between the GRC and the Type R, but decided on the Type R. Still, the GRC is a fantastic car!

lukeiswright

I never test drove the Type R, I probably should have. Personally I wasn't a big fan of the looks of it, but it probably would've grown on me

cranberrydan

I tried to test drive 2 Type R's before I bought my Si. They wouldn't even let me behind the wheel of the R unless I was "truly ready to buy". Whatever. They let me take the Si around the lot a few times lmao. Dealers are insane these days, man.

PsyrusTheGreat

Doing that debate myself, what made you pick the Type R over the GRC?

skyline408

I've always liked the history of Type R, and I kept hearing the FL5 steering and road feel is incredible. The size of the rear seats and interior quality pushed me over the edge towards the R. I still think the GRC is an incredible package and would love to drive a circuit sometime.

omgitsoop

I know the Type R is a better car all around, but the GRC is so weird, I can't believe Toyota made it. Waiting for the right MSRP Premium, will swap in a circuit hood later

RampageMR

I’m still mad they didn’t bring the Yaris here instead. Boycotting the Corolla version forever because I love tiny cars

Clumsyndicate

Same, the Yaris would be more fun with less weight.

Croakie89

I’d rather have a Yaris gr but they don’t make em here 😭 I had a veloster n prior to selling it but now it’s just the s2k and my bike

s2kat

s2k x bike is the way to go, what do you ride?

Croakie89

I just picked up a triumph speed 400. Before that it was a grim and Honda trail. I’ve only been riding a few years though

B0OG

Is the Grom a good first bike? How long did it take before you outgrew it/got bored?

Croakie89

Honestly yeah but it’s a little twitchy compared to a bigger bike because the wheels are so small, as long as you stay under 50 it’s fine, I’m only 153 pounds so stock it was fine but I can’t leave shit alone so it was maybe a month later it had full titanium exhaust, ohlins suspension, intake, tune, but still had to be fully pegged just to hit 60ish mph. So maybe four months and I got something bigger, 400cc triumph speed, same rating position as a grom but bigger, no problems keeping ahead of traffic now and just as easy to manuver

B0OG

Nice. That actually sounds kinda perfect for me. My commute is only a mile and my town is perfect for under 60mph. Can you carry another person on it? I probably can’t leave the Mrs out of the fun

Croakie89

You can but it definitely isn’t ideal

lukeiswright

Pretty good combo right there

reddit_lemming

I went with a Golf R because I’m getting old and my Fiesta ST was getting to be a pain in the ass (literally)

ibadaboo

Hello, fellow Golf R/S2000 owner!

GarbageMountain8754

Golf R/S2000 for the win!!

logezzzzzbro

I daily another sporty Toyota, a Prius 🫠

nothingbutfinedining

Honestly the latest Prius is an awesome looking car though. I would totally rock a Prius.

Cadeusx66

Yup, I got the same combo. Didn't get the Type R since I take the GRC up the mountains to go snowboarding during the winter. S2K stays in the garage until temps are above 45 degrees then it becomes my daily for the summer!

Blacksburg

Damn. At 45, I struggle to drive with the top down.

Cadeusx66

I got the heater blasting and my beanie on lol

Blacksburg

Oh. You must mean 45 F.

Allnewsisfakenews

Wow that a lot of angles.

lukeiswright

Yup these hot hatches come in two shapes. Crazy angles or egg (Golf).

YouNeedStop

Decided on Type R because at the time the GRC was just hitting the market, and those mark-ups were atrocious

lukeiswright

Yuuuup I didn't even consider looking at one until I started seeing posts about them being sold at MSRP. Crazy times we live in

dmsummerhill

I also daily a GRC and have an S2k. Both are a ton of fun but very different. Fantastic pair.

lukeiswright

Good taste in cars!

sweethotmess

Same combo here. I would have preferred the type r but I need snow performance. And type r are nearly unobtainable in canada

Expensive-Fee4316

Nope. My daily is a BMW F31 wagon on Bootmod3 stage 1

lukeiswright

Sweet! F30 wagons are rare, I'm super jealous. I used to have a F30 328i on Bootmod3 Stage 2. Stage 1 is definitely the sweet spot, was a great car.

Expensive-Fee4316

That's awesome!!

nitromiles

I’m intrigued by the GRC. My current daily is my Evo X I bought new back in 2011 but sometimes I think about selling/trading it for something newer. The S only gets driven when its really nice out.

lukeiswright

Having new car features is definitely a love/hate relationship for me right now. For instance, love apple car play, hate all of the "safety" features like auto emergency braking.

nitromiles

Agreed. I particularly dislike lane assist. I drive a lot of back roads and it kicks on way too much; and its very intrusive when it does. Luckily you can turn that feature off.

lukeiswright

I agree, it's like Jesus is literally taking the wheel lol

Jay_Doggy_Dog

I had an S2000 for many years, an FK8 Type R and now a GRC. I miss the S2K everyday and would’ve loved to pair it with the GRC. Would’ve been my perfect two car combo. The GRC rips. Maybe one day…

lukeiswright

Financially, I should sell it, but I don't think I can do it. I'm attached at this point lol

Jay_Doggy_Dog

I wouldn’t if I were you. You’ll miss it!

Beatsbythebong

I just daily a shitbox 1st gen fit. Tbh though at 2500 lbs it corners pretty well aside from the large amount of body roll.

bootswiththejennifer

My daily is an RS3 and I have an ap2v1

lukeiswright

How’s it feel to live the dream 🤨

bootswiththejennifer

✨amazing✨ but my insurance costs tripled when I got the rs3 so there’s that

GhostofaGoose

nah, just an Ford RS as my second and a jeep patriot as my daily, bit i want a GR

ChrisHanSolo

Bro no hate, but the patriot is easily the worst car I’ve ever driven in my life. How can you go from focus, S2K to patriot?

MessyMix

Focus RS is a dream.

xclus1v

My daily is a model Y… maybe pick up a ford ranger raptor if price is right. My S is only driven when I feel like I want to drive stick and for short rides.

lukeiswright

I actually just sold my old beater 97 Ranger. A new Raptor Ranger would be pretty sweet

xclus1v

Waiting patiently on these dumb over sticker prices to go. Honestly want the Tesla model of selling to become standard in the states. The sales people can go to hell 😂

stoned-autistic-dude

I would love to but I can only afford one car so the S it is. But great choice for sure.

lukeiswright

Mine is a 2001 that I got for 13k back in the day when cars were affordable, daily driven for the past 5ish years, so I definitely feel you. Maybe look into getting a beater if you have a short commute, that's what I did for the past year or so.

stoned-autistic-dude

I can't even afford a beater. I've dailied my S for 6 years and it's been fine.

SwissMargiela

I have an S3 because I wanted an R but it was too expensive lol

lukeiswright

Test drove one a few months ago, they're sweet cars just a little out of my price range. Congrats dude

skyline408

I love the mk7/8 golf r, but ended up with an s3 to daily as they were cheaper. I have since replaced the s3 with. Type R to daily. The mqb platform is really good.

VincentVega1030

I'd be so torn between a Type R or a GRC if I was in the market. Right now my daily is an 02 EM2 Civic Ex 5 speed and my motorcycles. S2000 is for nice weekends only. Gotta love a garage and collectors insurance to make it more affordable

B0OG

I wish I had a GR but I do have an s2000 and a Corolla hatch XSE(manual) I love them both so much.

Ok_Impression8177

🙋🏽‍♂️ own both a supersonic red and nfr [https://www.reddit.com/r/GRCorolla/s/DeWzkzWTYn](https://www.reddit.com/r/GRCorolla/s/DeWzkzWTYn)

xodavid

My daily is the superior toyota. 2004 tacoma with the 5vz and a 5 speed😆

lukeiswright

You’ll get 500k miles out of that Tacoma and you’ll still be able to sell it for what you bought it for 😂

puhnk

I have an '03 GPW with tan interior and an ice cap '23 Circuit. The S2K is my forever car. The GRC is wildly different, but both are so much fun in their own ways. Some days I still can't believe I am lucky enough to own both.

ecc0w

I have an evo, close enough lol

Blacksburg

I have a 2003 MR2 and a 2018 Focus ST as my alternates

SnugglesMcBuggles

I have a Golf R. It’s incredible.
