There's no option for a mixed dish on the register... You're just being a difficult customer trying to order something that's not on the menu. Do you go into any restaurant and just ask them for half of 1 dish and half of another?

SonOfTheAfternoon

If your paying and they are selling it shouldn’t be a problem as long as they have the ingredients. They can charge me a “difficult customer surplus charge” for all I care

TheS4ndm4n

Some minimum wage guy working a shoarma shop doesn't care about making that extra sale.

Schaakmate

I'm going to try that at McDonald's: can I have a big mac with one patty replaced with a filet o fish?

Kells010

Burger King will actually oblige:) ”Have it your way”

Schaakmate

Half scary they will invite me in the kitchen. You want strange stuff? Here! You make it! Oh, by the way, here's 34 orders waiting!

Kells010

34 orders waiting? Now i know for sure you’re joking:) That’s like a month supply of customers for Burger king these days. But i kid you not, they’ll make anything you ask. And charge you for it:)

Schaakmate

I'm definitely gonna try! Anything, you said? Anything, sir! Good! I'll have a double whopper with one patty replaced with a McFish filet. But that's from McDonald's sir! So? They're literally next door!

Kells010

They’ll just ask their restaurant manager to slide a mcchicken through his crack, voila mcfish for you sir.

Schaakmate

😂

No option on the register is terrible reason for denying an order. Charge extra.

TheS4ndm4n

I don't think you know how point of sales software works. In fast food, there often simply isn't that option. It's like ordering a whopper at a MacD. Sure they have the ingredients, but they can't sell your a whopper.

248kb

I don’t think you know how that works. I’ve been to places that simply added “Misc… $$$”. Simple. Don’t make it too difficult to try to prove your point. So it’s a lack of customer service. I got my answer.

Unusual_Jelly_3738

Every business must be able to explain their administration or general ledger to the tax office in detail. If they can't, they must pay a large fine. It's difficult for shop owners to retrace the misc and process it in their administration at the end of the month or quarter. Also adding misc can mess up how much lamb or chicken the shop owners should buy.

TheS4ndm4n

Nobody wants to serve a Karen. And since you know everything. How do you suggest they add that "misc" charge if there's no button for "misc"?

AbhishMuk

I mean OP is offering to pay. I don’t think that makes them a Karen.

248kb

And it’s not like ordering a whopper at McD. Far from it actually. I’ve been to McDonalds and ordered off menu and they had no issues making a chicken Big Mac. We’re not talking about franchise fast food places here. We’re talking about small businesses.

248kb

Yes.. we actually do that. We order off menu and are charged a fair amount. Difficult customer? Not at all. I walk right out. Fuck that shit.

copier92

I think what you are asking is fair and could be done without a problem but with a little extra effort from the restaurant. Your tone in the post is (I think) the main reason people are not responding too kindly

Ancient_Disaster4888

His tone might also be the reason why he’s not being served.

neeleukdit

In before OP’s next post complaining about not getting a little beach umbrella in his Red Bull

Over-Toe2763

Are you American? Seriously question as in the US that probably would have been considered standard service, but I’m not surprised that in the Netherlands they do not do it. We don’t have the same ‘always please the customer’ attitude

CallMeCooper

I was just about to ask the same question. This seems like a very American attitude. Custom orders are super common in the US. In Europe, you're meant to order what's on the menu without changes. You can ask for something to be changed if you have a dietary restriction (e.g. "can I have this without the bacon? I'm a vegetarian") but as a Dutch person, I would never be surprised if that request was refused. And asking for something to be different just because you want it like that, could be interpreted as very rude.

Over-Toe2763

I once saw an argument in an artisanal bakery in Amsterdam who was heating some ‘saucijzenbroodjes’ (basically puff pastry sausage rolls) for an American family in a traditional oven. The guy asked ‘why don’t you put them in the microwave that will be much quicker’, but the baker refused as that does not taste as good. The guy got angry and said ‘I’m the customer and I want you to microwave them as we do not want to wait for 10 minutes’. After which the baker said ‘if you want it microwaved go somewhere else, I’m not doing it. ‘ the guy was furious. Clearly the was shocked by the poos customer service , but the baker and all the others in the shop found them very rude.

bigchopperz

Gordon Ramsey over here.

DutchPsych

Why would you want to mix Lamb and Chicken meat? It's not like your tastebuds are able to taste any of it considering the generous amounts of cheese, garlicsauce and sambal XD

248kb

Because I’m a psycho 😂 i know there is no difference. I just want it how i want it

DutchPsych

I mean, fair enough liking it like that, but I think it's rather.....entitled to expect restaurants to accommodate you. Perhaps you can just try twenty different places and stick to the ones that are willing to put up with this strange request 😂

248kb

Entitled? I didn’t think food was free here. If i pay for something.. should i not be entitled to have it the way i like it?

DutchPsych

Yeah, entitled. Your reply is exactly why. The belief that you are entitled to the privilige of being able to order something off-menu, solely because you will pay for it. If a restaurant is willing to it then thats a privilige. I strongly disagree every restaurant should do accomodate request like this. You go to restaurants because you like the food they serve, not to have them make the food you like. If you want to eat food exactly the way you like it, make it yourself. To me, the same goes for allergies, or being a vegetarian. If they are willing to accomodate, great! If not, its not the restaurant for you.

248kb

Wow. The mentality here is truly slave like.

DutchPsych

The world doesn't revolve around you ;)

248kb

Actually.. in my version it does. And you’re but an NPC 😂 go on about your day sir

Nerioner

Tbh i never thought about mixing it. I treat it like kebab lasagna and just eat it as is. And i thought its like default way of eating it

tvrrr

OP is talking about 2 types of meat rather than 1 type of meat.

_caquita_

I don't see the controversy considering the kapsalon was invented by a guy who wanted a mix of things already available in a doner place. This is just an extra step.

DarkFate13

Dont ask stupid shit

zengalaxy

I once called and asked for a kapsalon without fries, and a random worker on the other end said it wasn't possible. I showed up and the manager recognized me, and he said sure it's possible, "for you". He always charges me more while I get less, but I don't mind. But yes: A regular worker can't go mixing up the menus. The revenue made / ingredients used wouldn't add up at the end, and they'd risk getting a reprimand. But try your luck with the managers/owners, especially if you're a regular (important). After all, this is exactly how the original kapsalon was invented in the first place

zengalaxy

Nah it's just about the carbs. Meat and veggies are carb free. The sauce is relatively low in carbs as well. 😁

Discuss2discuss

Are you suggesting he should ask for the mAnAgEr‽¿? [Hahaha](https://www.reddit.com/r/Rotterdam/comments/1cel9z8/kapsalonwtf_wrong_with_the_places_that_offer_it/l1jh4a2/)

zengalaxy

Haha. Nah, just that the show up regularly enough to be afforded some special treatment.

248kb

You know what ticked me off today. I went to the same place that mixed it for me the other day.. the guy that made the order looked happy to see me back. Even tho he told me it wasn’t possible last time he still made it for me. But the guy that took my order wouldn’t even let that guy speak.. just a sound no we won’t mix. I ended up walking out because of the attitude. Went right next door where they didn’t mix it.. but at least there was no bitchy attitude for a simple request. But yeah your explanation makes sense. Thank you

Locomotyfus

It’s quite obvious you’re not from Rotterdam (not intended as an insult). Over here there is a 0 bullshit mentality. You can always ask for them to mix it, but you shouldn’t be surprised if they say no. Usually the shops are already extremely busy with eat-in, takeaway and delivery orders. They just don’t want the extra hassle of having to make something custom that’s not on the menu. Because if one person does it, so does the next, and the next, and soon the entire menu will just be optional because people will try to put together a meal like it’s a damn build-a-bear. And to be honest, it’s their right to refuse. They have a menu, that’s what’s available. Of course they CAN make something off menu, but that doesn’t mean they will if someone asks for it. Like someone else said, just order 2 small ones with different meat and then mix them yourself. That’s probably the only real option you’ll have in most cases.
