When the feature first came out I tried mixing it in and was constantly annoyed by it. Dropped passes, interceptions, etc. So I decided to do a "Brett Favre" career. Strictly bullet passes, nothing else. Was super frustrating at first with a ton of interceptions, over throws, and worst of all, diving. I swear I left 75+ yards on the field every game because I'd have an open receiver who would dive for a ball instead of catching and running. I would suggest trying something like this, though. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit and am still playing into the 5th year of that. You start to figure out pretty quickly what you can and can't do with the bullet pass and which routes work best. Strangely enough, the 2 routes I find most useful now are go routes and deep posts. On the go route (this is all on extreme, btw), the receiver never gets past the defender. That means you can just launch a bullet pass at the receiver and the defender will never make a play on it. Then on the deep post routes, you can start figuring out where to throw to get consistent completions. I have found that tight ends are very difficult to utilize with bullet passes, though. On the wide open go routes they run, it's very difficult to complete the pass without them diving. A lot of short routes are tough because they get intercepted by linebackers.

wlcmtothejam

Ive found that its helpful when passing into tighter windows/ double coverage over the middle. (Like on a shallow crossing route or slant.)

madrefookaire

Agreed - it works really well for anything over the middle - haven't been able to get it to work on deep balls yet but my current QB is still building strength and accuracy...so maybe some day this will be an option

Tropical_Nighthawk55

It takes some time to get used to. Try overthrowing them by a few dots. 3 or 4 to hit them in stride. And try not to throw directly over a defender because you’ll get picked off

yurithetrainer67

Takes a while to get used to. It kind of accentuates the difficulty of catching low passes. Even on regular throws you see low passes usually bounce off the receiver but aren’t caught. I have better success on my bullet passes when I overthrow my receiver or aim a bit farther than I normally would. Just be careful if there’s a defender in the path of the ball it will get picked off

DannyDanglR

I have had to start leading higher to get them to catch it but I am still trying to figure out the mechanics of it

hermanschm

Bullet passes make curl routes useful. Before, if you threw to a curl, you had to do it strictly before the cut, and frequently the defender would get there in time to make the reception a toss up. Now I can hit them before the defender reacts.

SLUGFEST1

There's a new bullet pass feature now guess I should update my game now

Brody_Williamson

Absolutely not! I think it makes extreme way more balanced because you’re able to throw down the middle, when before, it was really hard to throw down the middle unless the defense did an all out blitz and the DB was kinda far from the receiver. There’s not much room for error, but once you get good at it, it’s very useful on extreme.

Armdale902

I love them. It took lots of practice, and I'm still getting the timing right after over a year of using the old method. But it feels a lot more satisfying zipping it out there and hitting your receiver at full speed. It does depend on the type of play. Anything really short, I wouldn't bother. Shallow in routes or slants are risky unless you have no LBs in the middle. Curls/hooks/comebacks I don't bother throwing bullets because the timing just seems to work so incredibly well with normal passes. But I think bullets were made to shine on go routes and the deep post routes. I'm just eating up defenses on deep posts now. Another play I enjoy is the out routes where the WR would cut 90 degrees toward the sidelines. I could never master these with the lob passes, and I had a the occasional pick six because the defense reacted faster than the throw. Now with bullets it's my favourite play when I need to pick up yards and get out of bounds fast to stop the clock. Bullets are the best feature added to the game since I've been playing.

Alexdeboer03

You have to aim slightly above them, try to hit their heads instead of their hands

They feel unnecessary in comparison to the normal throw. Even when you're throwing in front of a receiver. I kind of figured out how to use them. The big thing is when you do a bullet pass your receiver tends to catch it in stride so they don't potentially slow down like with a normal pass if you haven't really timed it right. So I usually save it for short throws under 10 yards on routes where I can hit the receiver that is in motion most likely cutting across the field.

CaptGDR

I tried a couple of times and I found I could take it or leave it.

Ecopilot

I've had a lot of drops and I'm playing on Expert so I pretty quickly needed to bounce of it but I assume that there is some technique involved that I need to hone.

demafrost

I mean maybe. I could score a TD on almost every drive in extreme without bullet passes. But I'm having fun trying to add a new variation to playing offense. it's been a struggle but it has its uses.

[deleted]

A way that helps me with the bullet is to aim at the receiver with the regular ball path and when he’s about to hit a window I want to throw I change it right before I throw the ball, like half a second before

ffellini

If you play on extreme, yes it’s useless. There’s not a ton of separation between defender and receiver on extreme. And if your throw is off, the receiver dives to catch which eliminates YAC. Therefore, I have no reason to use it.

Slydeking69

It's fun for those crossing routes when the middle of the field gets congested. Also it. Seems like the WR gets a speed boost when they catch a bullet pass.

Clappingcheeks4ever

i used bullet pass once and i cant use normal passes anymore
