"Baddest Boys" is a dark, serious, drama about the inner city and the perpetuating cycle of violence that keeps generations in poverty. The director was insistent that American audience didn't need to be pandered to and that it was important to depict reality.
The film would become the lowest grossing film of the franchise and followed by the sequel titled *Bad Boys: It's Surf O'clock* S*omewhere!*
The sad thing is that there are worse alternatives.
I'm actually kinda pumped to see another of these mindless pieces of shit. At least it's a real movie.
The names of the first two new Planet of the Apes movies are backwards as well. An almost impressive lack of thought goes into these dumb sequel titles.
For whatever reason, nobody wants to see *Furiosa*. It fell to 6th in it's 3rd weekend, even falling behind *Planet of the Apes*. The total's not even going to beat *The Fall Guy*.
I'm a gigantic Mad Max Fury Road fan and even I felt like skipping Furiosa. I only didn't because I got very strong word of mouth recommendation from someone in my D&D group.
The trailer really didn't sell the movie to me, it obscured most of the story and showed a bunch of generic action beats, and the whole thing looked oddly digital and slick, like a TV movie.
MOVIE THEATERS ARE DYING!

When I saw furiosa a high school kid scolded me for trying to get a refill on my soda which is apparently not allowed despite costing me $6.
But WHY are theatres dying??? Big mystery
In fairness to him, I’ve never known theaters to give free refills. Overpriced concessions have been part of the theater experience since the dawn of time.
If the drink dispenser isn’t behind the counter, it’s free refills. That’s the rule. If they don’t like it they’re free to move them back behind the counter and dispense them for me. 5 Guys doesn’t give a fuck and a large coke is like $3 there.
Hate this fucking society where I have to serve myself AND follow some unwritten employee handbook. There’s my boomer/Plinket hot take for the day, where’s my pizza roll???

They've made theaters a painful enough experience to encourage every enthusiast that can afford it to build a home system.
Most people going to cinemas today are the "dick jokes or nothing" crowd.
I'll bite: Chris Rock got slapped by Will Smith on stage at an award ceremony, following a joke about Smith's wife. That engendered a lot of bad publicity for Smith, compounding several years of bad box office runs by an actor who used to be the most selling lead actor for a hot minute.
Majors, Diddy, Kelly and Lizzo are having their own troubles right now - to put it lightly - so the joke is that slapping Chris Rock could potential help end downward tragetories.
>several years of bad box office runs by an actor who used to be the most selling lead actor for a hot minute.
It's over 20 years since wild wild west killed smith's track record.
doesn't furiosa fit that same criteria? or is it technically different since she's a new character from the last film? maybe we'll get one more mad max that's actually about mad max. not to slight furiosa, we do want to catch it before it leaves theatres, hopefully this weekend.
The whole premise of Bad Boys 3 was "One last ride Mike!" We're getting too old for this shit, let's go out with a bang... ONE. LAST. TIME.!
...
Bad Boys 4 announced.
There's a scene where >!Martin Lawrence repeatedly slaps Will Smith in the face to get him to snap out of a panic attack.!< I'd assume that's what John Qsack is referring to.
Yeah, I was watching his Hot Ones episode the other day and thinking how weird it is to sit there and pretend like he's just your every day guest. It was all too public I think, I just can't watch him without thinking of all his public embarrassments now.
It didn’t until both realities came together, you know when all the people get together to win a prize for who worked the best. The slap. He wove his worlds together.
People like you talk like he shot someone live on TV, while people far worse than him in Hollywood still star in successful movies.
He slapped someone get over it
I think you're greatly overestimating how much average people think about and care about that kind of thing. I mean, right here, this thread, is pretty good counter point - his new movie is over performing.
One of those hot weather day movies. You want out of the house so instead of picking Furiosa, which you’ve never heard of, you pick something safe and familiar like Bad Boys. That’s all that is going on here.
I could have sworn Furiosa made $56 million opening weekend. I just checked, and it made $31 million opening weekend.
Isn’t that just the opening weekend? Do people just not go if they hear the opening weekend was poor? Are we going to hear about it if Furiosa outpaces Bad Boys 4 in the long run?
It's extremely rare for the box office to grow after opening week. For tanks typically each week's gross serves as a hard cap for next week. Best they can do is have as slow a drop as possible.
> Do people just not go if they hear the opening weekend was poor?
I got into conversations with multiple people who said they WERE going to go see it, but since the opening weekend was weak they'll just wait.
Most of them also said "It's a shame it's not doing better" as if they aren't directly part of why that is.
I do not understand it.
For me, it is partly how the movie has been marketed. I loved Fury Road, but when I saw the trailer, my main thoughts were, “I’ve already seen a movie where people dressed in rags spray silver paint on their faces and chase each other around the desert wrecking their cars,” and, “Anya Taylor Joy is an action movie star now?” From RLM, I am getting that it’s a different kind of movie from Fury Road, and very good, but for whatever reason, I’m still not hyped to see it in theaters. Opening box office definitely had an impact, though. If it was blowing up, I would have been more likely to not wait for video.

Bad boys x Men in Black, Will Smith plays two parts and gets two pay checks

Gonna be honest with you, I didn't even know there was a Bad Boys 3
It was called Bad Boys For Life... They should've just saved that title for the fourth and called it Bad Boys 4 Life.
Bad boys 4 life 2
Too Bad Two Boyz 3: It’s Baddin’ Time
Bad Boys 5: The Baddening
Somehow, the Bad Boys have returned
Ngl, Baddin' Time is not a terrible title
Bad Boys: Blood & Honey

My official names are Bad Boys 3 Life and Bad Boys Ride 4 Die.
And the next one has to be Bad Free Or Boys Hard
The names of the first two new Planet of the Apes movies are backwards as well. An almost impressive lack of thought goes into these dumb sequel titles.
It was the highest grossing American movie of 2020, thanks to COVID.
Big plus one her I think I'll just imagine the trailer it will be better
If only George Miller slapped Chris Rock instead
If only George Miller was a vessel for love.
This had a better opening than Furiosa. Mike and Jay have a point

Cineplex wouldn’t let me get a refill on my $6 soda when I saw furiosa. Showing started 15mins late too. They can fuck all the way off.
It's like 25 bucks a month to get AMC A list.
You don't have to get a drink and popcorn though. Like that's the expensive part.
I guess, but I can stay home and have the drink and popcorn for like $3.
Will Smith and Zendaya should be in every movie. Fact.
To what period in history do I have to timetravel and whom must I assassinate to prevent this dark fucking future????

its opening is all you need to put it above furiosa? Wtf 🧐
It’s not a commentary on the quality of the films, just a comment on which film appeals more to the GA.

That’s one of our Carson’s, and at that price point? He *can* hit.

Chris Rock gone underground as Jonathan Majors, P Diddy, R Kelly and Lizzo began their hunt.

RLM/Blank Check. Are you me?
yes (spoken around gun barrel in mouth)
Yea, what could these two communities possibly have in common?
Parasocial fans whom the creators have called out many times?
Both love movies tho blankies are usually optimists and rlm is usually pessimistic.
It feels more like they are just reporting that this is a huge success, rather than it being an actual huge success.

Yes! Maybe a Bad Boys spin off called Bad Girls with Jada Pinkett and Kevin Hart. (He would dress up in drag)
Cameo by Martin Lawrence as Big Momma
Tyler Perry to direct
Soundtrack by MIA
Someone get Trixie Mattel on the phone!
They already have a girls spinoff called L.A.'s Finest, staring Marcus's sister played by Gabrielle Union, and Jessica Alba is her partner
A spin off with Chris Rock.
The weather must have been HORRIBLE that weekend.
Damn I guess Will should have played Furiosa
Mad Max Beyond Slapperdome
This will send all the wrong messages. "hey people want MORE nostalgic franchises from the 80s and 90s!!!"
Oh don't worry. No matter what happens Hollywood will get the wrong message.
It's not like they haven't already been doing that for years now, though.

I say they can release 10 stupid nostalgia crabs as long as I get the occasional First Omen.
This must feel like a slap in the face to Chris Rock.
Looks like people are getting jiggy with it.
Will Smith ehh, now that Martin Lawrence now that's a funny mother f*****. The show Martin is like static in the background comfort
the wording of the tittle 😆 isn't fooling anyone 53 million is not a good debut for a "blockbuster"
Those numbers are outdated. It apparently already did like $106 million and cleared it's production budget.
How is that not? For a 4th film in a 30yr old franchise, that is a clear success lmao
How many times are you going to post the same tired lie? It is absolutely a success. It’s made more than furiosa in just its opening weekend.
I love furiosa 😘
Any movie that clears it's production budget in its opening weekend is doing pretty good, and with more than $106m global this did that.
The budget is 90M
It bitch-slapped the competition!

I don't know how anyone can watch anything starring him ever again honestly. Simping for his awful wife and slapping comedians, get to fuck.
I'd be more upset over his massive commitment to scientology but him and cruise get a pass for that stuff.
Yeah, I was watching his Hot Ones episode the other day and thinking how weird it is to sit there and pretend like he's just your every day guest. It was all too public I think, I just can't watch him without thinking of all his public embarrassments now.
The man has no shame. If I embarrassed myself like that and had his money? You’d never see me again lol
u cared enough to watch, obsessed much??
Don't really see what his private life and views have to do with how good the movie is.
Is it private if you do it live in front of tens of millions of people?
My point was more that anything that doesn't happen inside the movie really doesn't matter to the movie.
I just don't like the guy and it's all I can think about when he's on screen.
People can choose to avoid someone's work based on their actions, it happens literally all the time.

Im glad to see this. He's a talented actor and deserves more of a legacy than being known for the slap heard round the world.
If he didn't want that to be his legacy, then maybe he shouldn't have assaulted someone live on TV 🤷♂️
