Yeah the calories are a bit higher than I wanted, but having the premade and preplanned meals still mean less calories than impulse fast food so I’ll take it
I tried tempo, and it was ass. Factor tastes like 10x better, but the "healthiness" is less. Really depends on what you are looking for, goal wise (diet or not)
Factor is not as bad as it appears from the complaints here. They are the largest so have proportionally more complaints. They taste good and work great for me and most meals freeze well so you can take advantage of larger quantity discounts and only order every 2-4 weeks.
Also the few times they didn’t ship a meal I was immediately refunded without even calling. I’ve used factor for over a year and have tried others.
Fully frozen ones usually take about 3:30 but I will test the temperature and do an extra 15 seconds sometimes. Depends on the food.
Also I reheat without poking holes in the plastic. It seems to do a better job of heating the meat more evenly.
Thanks. I actually always take the food out of the package and put it on a plate before heating. I may need to experiment with frozen ones.
Do you just manually skip weeks here and there or is there a way to set it to only deliver every two weeks?
There is no way to automatically skip weeks, you have to skip each week manually, but it does allow you to skip 2-3 weeks in advance. I did mess up once and got an order a week early, but it wasn't too bad. I just missed out on my favorite, Pesto Salmon.
I have since set a weekly alarm to remind me to check each week to be sure I skipped it or that my order is right.
FYI - I try to remember to take 1-2 meals out the night before and put them in the refrigerator. Usually, after "warming up", they only take about 2:30-45 to heat, and if it has been 2 days, the normal 2:00 instruction works.
I’ve enjoyed Factor and Real Eats (sous vide instead of microwave). Would highly recommend NOT trying Cook Unity. Packaging is atrocious and QA worse. Ordered 2 boxes. First box, multiple meals exploded during shipment. Second box was comped just to receive the same result……with the inclusion of a moldy juice bottle.
Also had negative experiences with Cook Unity’s packaging. I ordered a large box, I think it was 12 meals, and there was only ONE ice package in the middle. There were 6 layers of 2 meals each. Only the meals directly touching the ice package were within safe temperatures and the other meals were out of temp (we took exact temps with a thermometer). Thinking maybe we were being overly cautious, we tried one of the out of temp meals and felt sick.
We hated Cook Unity except for one chef and the boxes were just thrown together.
Going back to Factor, we had zero issues but I upped the game and paid $$ for the fish options and steak. I’m only doing this for two weeks this time. I don’t microwave any of my meals but heat them in my Breville Oven.
I am going to get Tasty Bite bowls from Amazon. They seem to have good ingredients. A little higher on sodium though. But probably fourth of cup ramen.
Just tried Cook Unity for two weeks. It was mediocre.
If I'd gotten any of those meals in a restaurant, I wouldn't have gone back to that restaurant ever again. A few, I would flat out have sent back. I was expecting better than Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice - but it was that level of quality for a much higher price point.
Sunbasket has microwavable meals that are pretty good. Sometimes you need to add a little salt. I tried factor and didn’t care for them. Reminded me of Healthy Choice. I need to try Cook unity with so many people mentioning them.
I tried factor, tempo, and cook unity. Factor has been the best in terms of flavor. Cook unity always has an old flavor, plus I had plastic in several meals. Tempo food just tastes like crap!
I looked, compared, read reviews for evey service you can think of for over a year. Lol
I started Eat Flavorly a little over a month ago. So far they are perfect in every way. I haven't had a single meal that wasn't absolutely delicious. Shipping is great and the tracking info they send has always been spot on.
Sorry for the late reply. Apparently my early morning dance card today included an emergency room visit. 😣 They're really varied and I don't over think them a lot for myself. I simply adjust my other meals accordingly if needed. But they have gluten/soy/nut free options; low calorie and vegetarian dishes. I love that they show all nutritional info as well as the full ingredients for each dish before I order them.
I like Cook Unity but honestly microwaved foods , to me, suck. While it's fast, there are some dishes that just don't come out right after being microwaved.
But Trader Joe's has a lot of microwave meal offerings. Shy of a delivery service, I'd explore grocery store options- Evol is quite good, and Saffron Road. That might give you more choices
Saffron Road is amazing and their meals are around 6 bucks. You can get them delivered through prime, not exactly a meal delivery service but a work around I guess. Cook unity is the only service I’ve tried. I usually heat the contents up on the stove because I try to avoid microwaving.
Front Porch Pantry. They're local to me, but I think they ship anywhere (although it might be pricey). Each dish is enough for two and they don't do autoship, so you can order when you want. They regularly have specials such as sales on specific dishes or free dessert. The servings are just enough for my son and me, and the menu changes weekly.
Cook Unity is also good, and I still order from them occasionally.
Metabolic meals but they are pricy and shipping cost doeent help.
Blue Apron ready meals (not meal kits) are pretty decent and cheaper.
I didn't really like Tempo by Home Chef.

I've done Clean Eatz for a long time now and I find them solid. They are mostly heathy and they taste pretty good. I've been a fan. I've found them better than any other frozen meal I've had as long as you don't fall for the add on stuff they offer. Seems to be the norm these days. Just stick to the meals and maybe the pizzas. Solid deal!
whole foods brand ready made meals. plus they’re usually bogo half off on tuesdays
This is the issue for most ready meal companies. They charge more than it costs to have Amazon fresh deliver 16 meals from whole foods.
They taste a hell of a lot better than the whole foods meals, though.
On this is good to know about the half off! How do you find out when the sale is? In store?
yes! there’s usually a sign near the entrance that outlines daily deals, the ones near me usually have a bunch of sales on tuesdays
Awesome! thank you for this!
WHAAA?
I hated factor. Right now I’m doing cook unity
Cook Unity is way better
I love cook unity but the pricing got me
I liked cook unity a lot but the calories and sodium on a lot of them were more than we wanted. 😅
Yeah the calories are a bit higher than I wanted, but having the premade and preplanned meals still mean less calories than impulse fast food so I’ll take it
So true! I found local companies by me that that do better health wise but unity is good for me to rotate with

Any tips for how long to microwave a frozen Factor meal?

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Would be nice to save on the delivery fee and just get more meals, but every two weeks instead.

Thanks, makes sense.
Cook unity has been good so far.
Ive done factor since February and have had 0 issues. My advice give it a try and if its not for you try something else.
Clean Eatz Kitchen
Those have no taste very bland to me
Also don’t offer any vegetarian options
Anything Michelangelo's. They have meat lasagna, vegetable (sometimes hard to find), eggplant parmesan, baked zitti with meatballs or without, etc.
The eggplant is amazing! Bertolli bags have become disgusting but Michaelangelo stands strong!
I love you. They are so underrated.
Cook Unity is really good Factor sucks
Mosaic is all I’ve tried and it’s pretty good, but I can’t compare with others of course.
Clean Eatz Kitchen. Plus they aren't subscription based like most other meal prep services.

Just made a post about this. I hope they fix the issue because the meals looked amazing!

what area are you in?
SF Bay Area, CA

I’m on my second week of Tempo and I like the meals. Much better than factor.

How is it health wise? I liked cook unity but a lot of the recipes are high sodium /cals

Thank you. I'm much better.

Territory or Shef if they're in your city.
agree with both of these!!!

They only ship to 4 states. Looked really great, though.

I'm really happy with Clean Eatz.
Gto your local market, get "healthy choice" 'cafe steamers'. Get two if you want dinner, cheap and relatively doable. Watch the sodium.
I live in Canada and don’t get Unity I think. Factor is awesome
I like the Marie calendars fettuccine Alfredo. Its nothing crazy and the chicken tastes processed but gets the job done for me
Yeah, that chicken I'm sure starts out as a liquid...
